« on: November 08, 2010, 03:00:16 AM »
hi im a newbie here in phil music and im just wondering why does zoom g1 sucks the quality of the pedal that im using?
i use g1 for eq reverb chorus delay and flanger kaso nga lang humihina ung quality ng sounds pag punta sa amp can a true bypass pedal help me from that? kadalasan kasi pag verse chorus flanger lang gamit ko or chorus lang tapos pag refrain and chorus tapak na sa dirt pedal tapos aun tone suck na can anyone help me with this problem?

You can try to put the G1 in a true bypass looper. That way, when it's bypassed, parang guitar>dirt pedal>amp lang ang nasa chain mo. Hindi na dadaan pa sa circuit ng G1.

When i bought my first dirt ped several years ago (mga 19 b.c.  Hehe..) just kidding, i bought another stomp, a flanger. Sound was good both of them. Pero when i bought a G1X for modulation parehas tayo ng naranasan TS, i know mapapamahal ako sa analog and im not in a band naman so i disposed both my stomps :(

one of the most neglected part when using your multi with analog pedals is the patch level

• turn off all other pedals
• check the level(volume) of bypass signal of your multi (in zoom multi, go to bypass/tune mode)
• then create your patch; in your case, modulation (chorus and other churva)
• if you will be using your multi as your modulation effects, TURN OFF Compressor and ZNR and also turn off all other module that you wont need (eq, boost etc.)
• then match your patch level(volume) with the bypass volume

additional tip:
• want a sparklier chorus?, add a bit of treble in your chorus patch

Yes, I suggest na off mo....... unless you need that eq settings for your flanger.

kaya nman makagawa ng almost transparent tone sa pedal+multi na combo

Bigyan kita example:
A0 = all modules off, set patch level to be as loud as bypass signal. (sa Zoom kung di ako nagkakamali, 80 yata ang value ng patch level to have unity gain) (see your manual kung saan ang patch level)
A1 = all modules off, except Chorus. set patch level to be as loud as bypass signal.
A2 = same as A0
A3 = all modules off, except Flanger and Delay. set patch level to be as loud as bypass signal.
A4 = same as A0
A5 = (your LEAD boost patch) all modules off, Except Delay, reverb and EQ with a boosted mids. set patch level a bit higher than bypass signal.

yes bro.  :-D itaas mo ng konti volume ng patch mo sa zoom para magmatch lang. ayun tama si ghost. usually tonesuck kasi halata ang pagkawala ng high frequencies... so adjust mo eq sa treble or kung ano mang frequency kinain.  :evil:

I like the "chugchug" that the noise gate of g1 gives, especially when paired with my dr. boogey. Downside is that you'll really lose your sustain BIGTIME!

why the need to add a clean patch on every other patch? @TS sustain means yung haba nung tunog while after mo magpluck or strum. so he's probably saying na pag ginamit yung noise gate hindi na ganun ka haba yung tunog. naturally yun yung cost-benefit ng chugchug ng noise gate.

Akala ko ako lang gumagawa ng ganito na cleanpatch on every other patch.  :lol:

Problem with g1 is that I can't mix well the modulations with my analog disto, hindi talaga maganda ang labas.  :-(

I also suggests that the TS should have a bypass switch for his multi if he plans to have a hybrid setup..

ganito po set up ni Bimbo.

natutunan ko rin to sa kanya and it's very effective. :D

Usually, you put the wah at the beginning of your chain. I am also using a hybrid setup for my pedal board:
guitar -->wd7 (wah)--> ds-1 (analog dirt) -->g1x (zoom multi) -->amp

It took me some time to tweak the pedals, both analog and multi, to achieve the tone that I want.

So far, so good!

pinagsasabay mo po ba ung chorus flanger and reverb sa g1 mo habang naka on ung dirt pedal mo?
di po ba nalulunod ung tunog?

A practical reason to have a clean patch on every other patch is to save "foot clicks". For example, if A0 is my only clean and I had jumped to A5 as I progressed, I would have to stomp four times to go to clean. But if every even patch is clean, A6 will save me

I tried chaining my tube screamer to my G1N. Ayaw magbago ng tunog, say drive on drive. Parang yung precompressor ng G1N won't allow the unit to be driven from the front.

IMO, hindi advisable gamitin ang wah ng zoom with modulation in a hybrid setting kasi yung wah suppose to be nasa unahan ng signal chain (analog dirt pedal next) tapos ang modulation sa bandang huli, kapag nakaengage ang wah useless na yung modulation and vice versa.

I think most people only uses zoom for modulation in a hybrid setting.
