Blue_buddha, anong model ng Parker yung sayo?

are they really that expensive? i'm assuming that must be the top-of-the-line model!

but seriously they are great guitars, probably underappreciated.

back to the PRS SE topic.

If i was to buy one, i'd go for the SE EG (3 SC pups) or the SE Soapbar.

One thing i noticed was they all seem to have the same neck profile, i could be wrong.

They've released the SE Custom, with the veneer (is it?) top. looks good, but looks really fake on a flat top. :? YMMV. i wanted one as a backup, but when it comes out in Soapbar maybe i'll buy one.

So another vote for the PRS SE Soapbar.

Although i agree, mejo overpriced pa din.. but hey, you want a PRS.. nobody said it will be cheap!

Just compare it to a Epip LP Custom, i'm assuming its at around 30K din, same as a Fender MIM/MIJ.

It's an early-mid 90's Fly Deluxe. They were fairly new then -- really very versatile guitar, but you have to live with that neck. Many more choices now.

The PRS SE's do all share pretty much the same medium chunky profile. Feels good in hand -- easy chording and good meat for grabbing and bending notes.

Di naman ako "true buddha".... just another geek like everyone else here.

The SE's with humbuckers are pretty good too. They are pretty bright for HB's -- a good thing since the neck pickup retains relatively good clarity without getting muddy. For the all-mahogany models, I liked the SE Standard best, better than the Santana purely really for cosmetic reasons -- never really got into the the funky striped inlays and the oddball pickguard -- the simpler the better in my book. For the maple topped ones, I'd go for the SE Singlecut first and the Custom second -- both also over the Santana for the same reasons. The Singlecut is even brighter (but a bit heavier) because it has a true maple cap underneath the flamed veneer top.

Since you are there, I'd advise you to go try a few of them in-store instead of buying online. While neck shapes are extremely consistent in the SE line, weights of individual models vary a great deal from guitar to guitar, as does overall tone. Whenever you have the chance, "Play before you Buy" for true satisfaction.

I hope you do not mind my chiming in.  I cannot help it.  I own two PRS SEs, a Santana II and a Soapbar II SE.  Never really like them at first, but one time, I passed by JB Makati from Dusit Hotel, and out of kicks, I tried the Santana II and I got sold after playing it.  Very good playability.  The neck is very nice.  I bought one that same afternoon from Dennis and Byke of JB Mega.  A week later, I tried the Soapbar II and I just had to get one as well.  Although they are great guitars, the pups are not to my liking.  I changed the Santana Humbuckers with SD JB and Jazz and the Soapbar with SD P90-1s.  Now both guitars sound excellent, used them on some recordings and on some of our gigs.  They have become my favorites.  I was GASing for a PRS US but with the prices (even if I get my guitars from Bangkok, Singapore, Hongkong or US where prices are a little better - Bangkok has the best buys), I had second thoughts.  Right now, I am contended with the SEs.  The Singlecut seems to be very nice as well.  I might get one also, but time will tell.  The way to go is to change the pups, the switches and the pots with more durable and reliable ones.  That's what I do with most of my guitars.

The SEs are very good buys.

Noticed it's a first post. Welcome.

The SE's are very nice. I have to say that I actually prefer them over the US made ones -- I had never bought a PRS before because the many I've laid my hands on always looked/felt too slick and too "fine" to me -- almost "too perfect" and a bit like playing a slab of sculpted marble.

These SE's seem to have a bit more grit and resonance -- lighter, thinner finishes, simplified, and having more of a workmanlike vibe.... in the spirit of those old LP specials and a good tele.

I know what you mean re: the pickups and electronics. Swapped out the pu's in one Soapy II (with a pair of Lollars) and a Singlecut (2xHarmonic Design Z90's). But I got another Soapy II that is bone stock and simply sounds outstanding! Just won't quit -- it sounds great as is so I won't dare monkey with it. I guess the lesson here is that one should try try try....  :)

They've become favorite gigging axes for me too -- simple, hassle free, and sounding righteously toneful clean or dirty.

Thanks, I just lurk by the side.  Indeed it is my first post, but I just noticed, I joined this forum in Sept., 2000?  Gosh, that was a long time ago.

If you ask me, for the SEs, my vote goes to the Soapbar II (the Maple seems interesting), the SingleCut, Santana II and Custom.

Back to being by the side.

I think the one payment cash prize of the singlecut has always been Php34k+. The soapbar II has always been Php27k+.

Most of or all the SE's are available in two configurations (options): Wraparound Bridge Tailpiece or Tremolo.
