Share your discoveries (and drum related realizations) =)
« on: April 23, 2011, 08:58:24 PM »

So ayun matagal rin akong naka-loang board. :-)

Then later on I found out na mas ok saken ang 2B. Masarap, lapat na lapat sa kamay ko! :-D

Kayo, anong nadiscover niyo? Baka magkatulungan tayo :-)

Pano pala "shinishift" (what a word) yung mga board sa pedal? Separately sold ba yun? O DIY?

hindi ba delikado mag hand hammer? meron kasi akong stagg 16" regular thin crash... Gusto ko gawing thrashy pa yung tunog eh, shorty decay and all.

Yung set up ko kasi 12", 16", 22", snare, ride at 2 crash eh.

sir, this thread is interesting :-)
para sa akin naman, i discovered that i thought my taste for cymbals has been zildjian.. but just days ago, i'v been highly intrigued with the 18" sabian hhx o-zone and the chopper. i now have plans to buy one soon..
bottom line is, i think i'm just used to the zildjian "sound".. pero i don't really mind if my cymbal set is a mixture of other brands.  :-D

For me "fingers" are more efficient to use than the "wrists" in making a stroke (less power nga lang)
Got a DVD of Jojo Mayers "Secrets of the Modern Drummer" and it's all about complete details... :-D
From "shoulders" down to "fingers" is a step by step body part drumming advantage for drummers...
So far stuck ako practicing my right hand till today, di pa siya as precise as my left hand strikes...
And yes, I am left handed & I want my hands working at the same pace, especially both my feet...
God is the mighty "RAK" of my salvation "EN" he want's me to "ROL" forward & follow him...

As a drummer, advantage pong di lang tayo flexible sa genre or playing style...
Dapat pati sa gears ng ibang tao, I just came back from a diffrent church...
And they have a younger (meaning mas bago) drumset than our church has...
First time ko makagamit ng "all-stock" na drumkit pati cymbals, a learning experience...

i once regarded zildjian to be the ultimate cymbal pero after hearing the various cymbals out there napansin ko na marami palang maganda that can even outweigh zildjian if it wasnt for the years that zildjian has established within the market. for example, sa ride dati idol ko talaga ang k custom and i would see and recommend to people that it is the best, pero nung lumabas ung HHX ng sabian i was like oh my god... tapos dumating pa ung sand ride ni benny under meinl, na parang lahat ng magandang aspect ng ride pinagsama sama. its just a matter of opening up your mind sa ibat ibang bagay and not judging by what you see and what you hear.  :-D

Same here tol, well 3 & a half years to be exact, but that didn't stop me from playing & learning...
I have 6 pairs of sticks (hassle to hand-carry) & I don't know how to tune a drum... :-D
So I made a decision, and then I bought a stick bag and a cheap drum key... :-D

OT:

I just discovered I lost  my Metronome...

And whats worse is I lost the passion to play...

DAMN THAT PSP!!! DAMN YOU!!! :-D

1. In music, sound alone matters not brand names.

2. In developing one's skill, your passion is more important than the instrument.

3. On becoming an artist, developing one's personal language is more important than copying other musician's technical skills.

4.  Fulfillment - Following God's purpose for the talent He has given you will give you the most profound happiness you can ever imagine.

5. It takes effort [not time] to discover things that will define us as a drummer, and a person.

To God be the Glory!  :-)
So Be It.
