Bass will be an issue with those. Save up for monitors with larger sized woofers or get one with an integrated subwoofer system.

Yung MS-20 ba? Parang kapareha ng Roland DM-20 ah. I have the Roland MA-20 which is practically the same except for the lack of digital inputs. Don't expect a lot of bass with these monitors.

Those Samsons are nice. How about the 65a and 80a? Does Samson offer a subwoofer addition? I'm concerned about the bass extension on those small woofers.

Kit, I tried the Samsons... they're ok...  There is a sub option.  I think all Audiophile outlets have them in stock.  Audiophile also carries Tapco

Which model, John? My spidey sense tells me to go for the Resolv 80a... but I just came from the Roland clinic and I heard the Juno G and VP-550 in action. =P~   Looks like my priorities are shifting again.... damn GAS.

Set A – KRK RP5
Set B – Rubicon R5A
Set C – Behringer Truth 2031A
Set D – Roland DS5

Quote
Tim Oliver hears a problem: “Set D seems to have a problem on the right side.” Sure enough, his golden ears have spotted a problem. On investigation, it seems that the Rolands have blown a woofer, so they’re now out of the running. With three other sets still remaining, the test continues.

On switching between sets, it seems clear that Set A is causing a few frowns while Set C has a massive sound that produces many grins among the panel. The tracks come to an end and everyone seems most impressed with B and C. Tim likes the sound of Set C: “They sound quite vibey and exciting, but I don’t think I would trust mixing on them.” Everyone agrees that Set C would be fine for recording but could prove to be untrustworthy for mixing. Set A raises words such as “honkey”, “boxy” and “scooped”. It seems that Set B would get most studio use, and Real World’s head engineer Marco has an inkling as to what they are: “They had a top-end sound that’s akin to a ribbon tweeter.”

The panel agrees that only one set could be trusted, and that’s Set B. Nick Batt adds: “Although it lacked a lot of bottom-end, the overall spectrum felt a lot more balanced.” So the Samson Rubicon R5A takes first place and prove Marco’s ears correct in spotting the ribbon tweeter sound early on.

Tarkuz, ikaw din pala yung nasa PhilMug :)

Anyway, do they sell these monitors locally? Ang sabi sa Audiophile daw. How much for the 4a? And can I still use these monitors kahit sa everyday use (mp3 / movies / videos etc)? Will it not affect to the sound at all?

I'm a PhilMUG member since 2004. I own an iBook.

Yes, these monitors are available locally at Audiophile stores <click>. Price of the 4a is below PhP 8,000. Yes, these monitors are not only reference speakers but also multimedia (mp3/movies/videos/etc.) speakers. Sound is reproduced equally well at home or studio.

for those who are asking for the samson resolv 40. its ok in terms of price and stereo imaging. i own one. its P 8k now. quite good specially when compared head to head to even more expensive monitors.  bass for me is 'adequate'. almost good. walang headphones jock ang mga resolv series. volume/level lang. for those who want a little more features on the speakers, samson media one are now available. with headphones and auxillary input. same price.

It's all very subjective. What sounds good to one may sound like crap to another. I guess the best answer to your question is that what's nicest is what sounds best to you according to the budget you have set for yourself.
