di ko maisip kung ano kaya buhay natin ngyon kung hindi nabuo ang eraserheads.

i can not even think the right/exact word to describe the eheads.

i remember while watching their concert at the folk arts way back 95 (i think), i noticed that the audience are from different types of people. matanda, bata, mayaman, mahirap, buong barkada, buong pamilya...

adidas t-shirt with the three stripes on the shoulders, chuck taylor, pepsi, burger machine

for me, theyre the best thing that happened EVER in the pinoy music scene, with apo hiking society a far second

Kahit anong sabihin nila Eraserheads pa rin ang the best na banda sa Pinoy Rock Scene. 90's or 2k's.
Hindi na sila makakalimutan. :)
Iyung mga kanta nila laging dalawa ang ibig-sabihin.
Isa yun sa mga advantages nila.
Tulad na lang ng Alapaap.

Hi guys and gals - I got saddled with this magazine assignment for People Asia - a "where are they now?" piece on the Eraserheads. I've talked to them, but now I need some opinions and quotable quotes from "music experts" - and where else do all the experts hang out but on this board?  8)

If you can, please try to answer this question: What do you think is the most important legacy that the Eraserheads has left behind in the Philippine music scene? Answer as long as you want...

Thanks!

well, what i think is, the influence of PINOY ROCK ALTERNATIVE WILL NEVER DIE

peace man !

I think if they never broke, the record industry would still be depending on the tried-and-true songwriting of Vehnee Saturno or Jose Mari Chan.  We'd only still have very bland ballads with boilerplate-style songwriting and arrangement.  We'd have production that's a little too studio-slick (I prefer some of my rock songs super lo-fi and gritty).

We wouldn't also be enjoying all these nifty and creative songwriting arrangements, abstract lyrics, and songwriters like Rico Blanco and Dong Abay.

These guys, at the outset, were not that great as musicians - but as songwriters and as voices of their generation, they definitely scored multiple bull's eyes with their songcraft.

Though I did like the first album for the sheer attitude and earthiness of their music, it was Circus that got me thinking - they had the rebel attitude, and at the same time openly embraced their influences. Cutterpillow was a great album, too, but in my mind it was Circus that defined them. I wouldn't say that they made me pick up my bass and play, but definitely they got me thinking about how music is - not what it should be, but simply how it is.

And as a bassist, Buddy is among those I hold a very high regard for, both as player and as a person. I remember when I subbed for him when he was still in Twisted Halo, and I couldn't get over the fact that I was playing Buddy's lines. But of course, he had to be there, too, since the lagare he had ended early, and since I was onstage in the middle of the set already, he said ako na tumuloy. hahahahahha! NERBYOS.

share ko lang  :-D

The Eraserheads was the most popular Pinoy rock band in the Philippines during the alternative rock explosion of the early 1990s. The Eraserheads is also regarded as the band that opened the commercial doors for other aspiring Filipino rock bands like Rivermaya, Parokya ni Edgar, and Yano. Their fans affectionately call them "E-heads."

The band's debut album, Ultraelectromagneticpop, released in 1993 by BMG Records, was a commercial success. The album also brought the underground "college rock" scene into public awareness.

Their influence and contribution to Philippine music today is so great that they have often been called the "The Beatles of the Philippines."

In 1997, they won an award in the 1997 MTV Video Music Awards in New York, USA and the song "Ang Huling El Bimbo" won the Asian Viewer's Choice Award the previous year.

Original members (1989-2002)
Ely Buendia - lead vocals, rhythm guitars
Raimund Marasigan - drums, samples, percussions, back-up vocals
Marcus Adoro - lead guitar, back-up vocals
Buddy Zabala - bass guitar, back-up vocals

Sessionist

Noel Garcia - keyboards, drums

Last lineup (2002-2003)
Kris Dancel - lead vocals, rhythm guitars (from Fatal Posporos, joined after Buendia left the band)
Raimund Marasigan - drums, samples, percussions, back-up vocals(from SandWich)
Marcus Adoro - lead guitar, back-up vocals
Buddy Zabala - bass guitar, back-up vocals

Biography
The Eraserheads was formed in 1989 by four University of the Philippines students namely Ely Buendia, Raimund Marasigan, Marcus Adoro and Buddy Zabala, taking its name after the David Lynch movie Eraserhead. The group performed regularly at campus gigs in their alma mater. They had also performed at Club Dredd along EDSA, Quezon City, Metro Manila, a now-defunct club popular in the 1990s which served as a breeding ground for many Filipino Alternative Rock acts. The group submitted a demo to RJFM but were immediately turned down as their music did not fit the classic pop-rock format of the station. Fortunately, BMG Records-Pilipinas snatched them up and released their debut effort UltraElectroMagneticPop! under BMG's newly formed "Musiko" label. Their debut album comprised mainly of ska-tinged pop hooks laid down on a traditional guitar-bass-drums foundation. Buendia's catchy melodies and witty caustic lyrics helped fuel the album's success.

Split-up
In 2002, while driving in his car, bassist Buddy Zabala received a text message from their vocalist. According to some fans, Ely said (through the text message) that he wanted to quit the band (the exact reason/s behind this remains unknown except to those directly involved). Ely was quoted as saying "graduation time."

After leaving the band, Buendia was later replaced by Kris Gorra-Dancel (of the Fatal Posporos). The "new" Eraserheads shocked fans in a Hard Rock Cafe gig when the new vocalist showed up instead of Buendia.

November 2002, Marcus Adoro quit and the band was later renamed to “Cambio” as they added Diego Mapa (of Monsterbot), and Ebe Dancel (of Sugarfree).

After the Eraserheads disbanded, the band members formed other bands, such as Pedicab, Surfernando, Sandwich, The Mongols, and Pupil. The remaining 3 members (Dancel, Marasigan & Zabala) formed a new band Cambio(meaning "Change") with Ebe Dancel and Diego Mapa.

Life After Eheads
In late 2005, Sony-BMG & radio station Jam 88.3 released the compilation album Ultraelectromagneticjam: Music of the Eraserheads. The album features current top Filipino artists doing Eheads originals. This helped the band to gain younger fans, some of which were not present during their time. Now, the Eraserheads is even bigger. Tons of Bootleg CD's are being distributed FOR FREE in the internet through the bands' original mailing list, Circus
