SSD anyone?
« on: January 04, 2012, 03:33:46 PM »
I bought an OCZ Vertex 3 today. It's a solid-state drive that features flash memory and boasts of up to 550MB/s read/write speeds.

I'm curious on how it will improve my Windows 7 Ultimate 64 system. Anybody here who has prior experience with SSDs?

Me sir.

Purely for PC GAS. Haha. Most people use it as their primary boot drive. Tapos yung storage nila is an HDD na.

One thing I can say: this sh*t is fast! The one i have is an OCZ Vertex 3 120GB.

I installed my OS in it. It boots around 23-25 seconds, it opens up my Photoshop CS3 (with a few plugins) in 3 seconds (WOW!), my 2010 Autocad in 16 seconds, and my 2010 3dsmax (with a lot of plugins) around 25 seconds.

In retrospect, the price is probably not worth the use of the item. It's a luxury (for now), but the SSDs will probably replace the use of harddisks in the near future.
