Any suggestions on how i can adjust my pickup height without its wings? My guitar's routed for active/emg707 sized pups and i converted it to passive by cutting my passive's wings off. I can adjust it by loosening all the strings, taking my pups off and putting  longer springs on the cavity but i want to avoid the hassle and it is too time-consuming. Any suggestions? Thanks.  :)

^nice is an understatement.  That mod is BALLSY!  I'm curious as well to tonal changes, as far as popular opinion on differences is concerned.

thanks. the rosewood board definitely made the tone warmer and rounder.  i don't know why some people say the fretboard wood doesn't matter and they can't hear a difference. in my case the difference is huge.

if you saw my earlier post in this thread, you can see i already have mods on the guitar. but then i saw a 60s Road Worn neck on ebay with a good dark rosewood which are harder to find. with the neck change, of course i also have to get a mint green pickguard for it which is also hard to find as mine requires a 8-hole PG and most have the 11-hole. i only found 2 that sells 8-hole mint green PGs, Callaham and a seller from Australia. the Callaham was a bit too green but the one from Australia is closer to the originals. the pups are the same(Fender Fat 50s) and i also put some real mid-60s Kluson tuners with plastic buttons which i'm not sure if it will stay there as i'm also planning to change it  to gold hardware pero saka na...

Thanks for the info, so neck change pala sya.  I thought you removed the fretboard since worn na yung maple fretboard and changed it to rosewood.  I also have a maple strat, and you gave me an idea.

@siore - medyo limited yung alam ko na adjectives to nice, great, excellent.  Medyo formal na yung last two so I stuck to nice. hehe.

No offense meant bro. ^-^ I also thought it was a fretboard change. I didn't read the earlier post also lol.  But even then, it's nice to hear from personal experience that the fretboard really does make a difference.

Hi guys, sorry I'm new here and I have a couple of guitars with FR tremolos, so please bear with me.

I don't know if these issues were already tackled here or in another thread, but I'd just like to ask these questions:

First of all, this concerns the tension springs: so the question is, which is positioned the right way?

2 springs are angled diagonally positioned to the center while 1 spring is in the middle...

versus all 3 the springs positioned parallel to each other?

Lastly, adding another spring (a fourth one), is that good for the guitar?

I hope you have time to answer this 'tho... I'm an aspiring mod and luthier too  :-D

Thanks!

-string tension must be equal to spring tension, making the faceplate parallel
-putting an angle to the springs changes the tension, more tension is needed on the low E A D strings, lesser on the G B high E
-setup differs depending on what you want to achieve in your guitar, it'll vary depending on your action, string gauge, etc...
-you might wanna ask a luthier to set up your guitar or watch some video tutorials in youtube

i may not have answered your question but i hope you got the idea

Thanks for the tips, sir.

I think this article from ultimateguitar would also help answer the questions. just don't mind some of the silly arguments.  :-D

2 springs are angled diagonally positioned to the center while 1 spring is in the middle...

versus all 3 the springs positioned parallel to each other?

in my opinion.. there is no wrong or right way...

theoretically:
all 3 springs parallel - less spring tension ~ lesser string resistance
2 angled springs - greater spring tension ~ greater string resistance

it's basic physics. placing the spring in an angle further stretches the spring so the resistance will be greater.
doh!!!

+1 more spring tension on the lower E A D strings.

Nice upgrade.  Kamusta yung twang king?  How different is it with fenders (Standard or texas special)?
