you'll be disappointed because what you'll hear is far from what you expect, remember this is Abercrombie, the closest he got to bop was in the album Solar with Scofield but aside from that he was never close to the styles of Martino, Bruno and most specially George Benson, 60's or in any other stages of his playing.....considering the personnel he'll be bringing over to Manila, we're in for a ride..... the nearest lineage to Abercrombie's playing is Tal Farlow

Excellent observation gwt. Yup Abercrombie cannot strictly be classified as a bebop guitarist.  Since his ECM years John tends to get into jazz that borders on new age (hehe).  But if his nearest lineage is Tal Farlow, that is great since Farlow is one heck of a bebop player.  Jimmy Bruno considers Tal as one of his greatest influences.
