It was still uber white when the stain was rubbed of The color was not permanent that's why it needed to be sealed. For me it looked better than buying cream knobs because the discoloration did justice to make it look old.

What coffee did you use? Serious question :-)

I used brewed coffee. What I did was brewed some coffee then soaked in in th coffee for about an hour. After that I placed some chunks of the mixture over the knobs and let it dry under the sun. Sayang I don't have pictures anymore but the end result should look something like this...

It looked more authentic than creamed knobs because it developed the "libag" look he he...

Where to buy this kind of soldering iron? Ace and Alexan have big ones. I only need a small one like on the photo.

I already posted this on another thread, but I might get different answers from the DIY guys here. :-)

Donat, it depends on the wattage you want. If yo plan to use it to solder effect boards 30 watts is enough. But if you plan to solder guitar pots 40 watts would be better.

I was told 30 watts would be enough. Guess I need 40 watts. With that said.. Where can I purchase a 40 watts small soldering iron?

I'm confused. 30 or 40? Hehe. Are there any other Deeco stores other than in Cubao and Raon? Preferably around north.

30 watts is ok, but I use 40 watts in soldering pots. It does the job more easily specially if you will be soldering ground wires to the pots surface. If you are using new pots 30 watts may be enough to solder on the surface, but if the pots are old, sometimes old lead is stubborn to remove.

things i do when soldering to a pot (ground)

- sand the surface of the (new) pot para mas kumapit yung solder
- melt some new lead onto the old lead then remove it using a pump
doh!!!

Yup I do this too, but still there are some leads that are hard to remove. Lalo na very old guitars circa 70's and 60's.

May ganyan ako amfoots ninakaw sa Bulacan. Some of my tools were lying around the garage when my Mother-in-Law hired a gardener to mow the lawn. I only found out after a week na nawawala na.

I have an old Weller similar to this pero mine is older circa 70's pa and hand me over from my Dad. I also have the cheap standar one which I always use.

Actually kasi depende sa klase ng plastic yung effectiveness ng coffee technique, gumagana siya sa U.S. grade plastic parts. Gaya nung sa strat ko before, left it in a cup for 4 hours then permanently stained na.

Anyone have a lead on an appropriate tap-and-die set?
Can't seem to find any for sale in Metro Manila (except for humongous sets that cost a ton, lol).

I need to add end-threads to roundbar stock, to make some truss rods.

Thanks
 :)
