mga sir ask ko lang, gonna paint kasi old guitar ko (found on our basement :P )

I sanded thru its coating, hanggang wood. so bare wood nlng siya.. I applied wood filler sa mga scratches and dings.. then applied primer then sanded again with 600 grit..

aaplyan ko siya ng acrylic solid color coat (color yellow as background color, and another color for details' design  )

kelangan ko ba siya lihain ng pino (i got 1500grit sanding paper) before applying ung coat ng yellow?

and I assume more than one coat of yellow ang gagawin ko, so after i apply ung unang coat, lilihain ko ba muna siya ng pino 1500 grit (and ofcourse after an hour or two), before applying another coat ng yellow? or kahit d ko na siya lihain? at apply nlng ng second coat?

and I plan din pala na patuyuin muna ng 1 day ung yellow color, before patungan ng another color for the design (which is somekind of metallic color, may parang glitters ba, so i'm not going to sand it every after coat, baka mababoy).. do I need to sand first the yellow coat kung san ko papatungan ng another color? or pwede ipatong ko nalang dun without sanding..

salamat :)

1. sanded down to 1500 grit
2. apply one coat yellow then let it dry for 1 day
3. sanded down to 1500 grit (lightly just to make it even)
4. apply second coat yellow then let it dry (depends on how many coat you want imo 3 max) for 1 day
5. sanded down to 1500 grit (lightly just to make it even)
6. apply 3rd coat yellow then let it dry for 1 day
7. sanded down to 1500 grit (lightly just to make it even)
8. apply the final coat...
9. optional you may apply clear coat no sanding needed. 8-)

Actually masyado pino ang 1500 grit baka di kumapit ang 1st coat mo dun. Base coat is always crucial. 600 grit will do on bare wood then apply 1st yellow coat. After 1st coat check for any imperfections and sand it off. Apply the 2nd coat then sand off again 600-800 para kumapit ang 3rd coat. Apply 3rd coat. then apply clear coat to protect the paint, kung walang clear coat madaling mabakbak ang paint. Youc can apply 3-5 coatings. After the last coat ng clear coat makikita mng parang balat sibuyas siya, sand it off using 1000 grit up until mag pantay siya, better off you wet sand. Then you can move to 1,200 grit to 1,500 grit hangang maging makinis yung surface. After that you can polish using polishing compound.

currently nka primer na siya and sanded to 600, i think ok na to for the first coat. then 800 (or 1000 maybe?) after every coat? just to remove any dust or etc.

before applying clear coat, what grit ang gagamitin for sanding? 1500? wetsand or dry?

I'm planning a high-contrast, or matingkad na yellow..

**** additional
before clear coat, AND AFTER last coat ng yellow, lalagyan ko ibang parts ng body ng metallic color, do i need to sand ung mga part na un before applying first coat ng second color? or pwede rekta nalang patungan?

After each coating ng paint lightly sand off with 600-800 grit tapos mag coat ka ulit ng paint. Sa top coat mo, mag coat ka as much as you want kasi this will seal the paint and protect your paint. Kaya you can do upto 7 coatings sa top coat. Just use enough paint to cover and give an even color sa body mo, ang importante yung top coat.

before clear coat, AND AFTER last coat ng yellow, lalagyan ko ibang parts ng body ng metallic color, do i need to sand ung mga part na un before applying first coat ng second color? or pwede rekta nalang patungan?

What do you mean? Are you planning on a 2nd metallic color?

plan ko is, after perfect na ung base color (yellow), saka ko patungan ng metallic color (for details/design) then after that, clear coat na..

Ah ok, sand mo muna yung yellow then patong ka ng metallic color. kadalasan pag sinabi mong metallic color mga mica siya. sa mga paint center alam nila mag timpla niyan and kung ganong karaming metallic specs ang gusto mo. My advise is kung going metallic ka pala don't use acrylic pain in cans kasi limited lang ang choices mo. Pa timpla ka na lang sa knowledgable.

Pag nag sand ka ng final color grit 1000 gamitin mo and just lightly sand it para kumapit clear coat.

May nabibiling masilya pang wood.

It would really depend kung anong paint gamitin mo. Better ask the local paint store they would know best. AKo kasi pag bumibili pa tingitingi miinsan. Ang important is the putty you use would be applicable for the paint you will use.
