In regards to how that genre surfaced, If you'd go back through modern music history, rock was streamed out from blues, and from there metal, punk, thrash and so on branched from that genre. How "Christian" was added IMO seems to have been purportedly placed to distinguished from the common themes of rock, metal, hardcore, etc.. of which during its infancy moral society dubbed it as rebel, satanic, anarchaic or what have you. I remember back then the back masking and the devil music expose during the 80's. Certain religious groups burned Hotel California records in a rally deeming them as Satanically inspired as they point out a personality in the album pictures of Anton Lavey founder of the First Church of Satan. Inspite of the protest rock continued to flourish and patronized by the youth. Religious protest seems to have backfired so instead a counter culture seems to had been the likely more an alternative in the cliche thought "if you can't win 'em join 'em"....If they can't stop it might as well sound like them but with a different theme...thus the birth of the Christian on the genre playing a different theme but sound otherwise....

Technically, sound-wise there seems to be no distinction, its only on the theme. Its like a donut having holes,  flavor wise makes the difference to make a twist out of it for whatever taste that suits the listener.

Hello po mga fellow musicians. First of all, gusto ko lang sabihin na lahat ng mga ideas na pinost dito ay may sense at maganda ang insight. Sabi nga nila "Any intellectual discourse is good because it stimulates the mind by posing valid questions and proposes some answers"

In regards dun sa thread title na "What do you think of Christian Rock and etc?" my response is this: Okay lang kung ganun mo I profess yung faith mo. And if for some, mas na bbless sila kapag sa ganitong form or genre nila nakukuha yung word ni God, then thats okay. Pero ang concern lang siguro is in the larger circle of christianity. Kasi ang christianity and christians has been stereo typed or type classed as clean, malinis, maganda, maayos, decente, proper, walang tattoo, di umiinom, dapat may standards ka na sinusundan and to some extent conservative. Lalo na dito sa pilipinas na hindi pa ganun ka liberated christians ang mga tao. Siguro in the larger circle of christianity hindi pa ganun ka open ang tao to that certain type of rock. Yung metal or hardcore or punk. Mayroon sigurong iba na nakikinig ng ganun, pero generally (stereo type na of christians to, and in regards to my experience with my churchmates), mas mellow or mas magaan sa tenga pakinggan.

Ang iniisip ko naman ay kung mas makakalapit sila na mga tao na nakikinig na sa ganun type ng music by incorporating christian messages to their somewhat metal or hardcore music, then thats good. Kasi Music is an avenue for change. Sa buong history ng mundo, andaming kanta na nakapag bago ng utak ng mga tao.

actually kaya naman ngkaroon ng Christian rock or ccm is because some music lovers na mananampalataya they love rock music and they want to glorify God at the same time pero syempre in this world we have people who are so legalistic, legalistic christians na nagumpisa pagtawag o to judge a song as a devil music...There is no such things as devil music.....

may mga ngsasabi hardcore music makes a person to violent to kill, rnb makes a person horny

Actually sa internet marami mga Christians or "legalistic small minded christians" and naninira ng kapwa Christians..
na cnasabi nila sa CCM artist not of God, illuminati, or satanic roots of Christian rock, etc...
actually this is one of the attitudes our Lord Jesus opposed in His time are the legalistic attitude...ung mga pharisees those times...
pero sad to say a lot of Christians are like that these days

Solve yung point ninyong dalawa. Solve ako dun sa Christian = church dahil church = community. As Christians we grow in faith sa community kasi.  And Solve din ako na hindi ibig sabihin na Christian music ay pangchurch na. Marami kasing secular Christian music sa ngayon.

-Way back in college days early 90's siguro there was an album called "the rock stomps here" i forgot the artist na, we covered some of their songs which were hymns turned to rock genre. Back then mejo conservative pa yung church namin, ayun we were really despised and questioned on our morality , but it opened the door for the younger generations to express themselves more freely, so I guess isa kami sa catalyst ng Rock sa church.

      parang contradiction ung term kasi christian music must be used inside the
        body of Christ.

Example bro is yung With Arms Wide Open by Creed. Sobrang secular (meaning pinapatugtog sa radio, alam ng mga tao Christian man o hindi) ng song na yan pero hindi naman siya ginagamit sa church. Pero pwede naman siya gamitin sa church hindi nga lang siya ginagamit talaga sa church.
