Push Pull Potentiometer for volume or tone knob
« on: June 26, 2013, 09:48:57 AM »
Anyone who tried DIY installation of the push and pull pot?

I wanted to explore the split and parallel sounds from a 2 humbucker setup

Where can I buy this?

TIA

May push/pull pots sa Audiophile. Meron din sa www.epektos.com.

Natry ko na siya pang coil split. Medyo kakaiba ang wiring pag parallel tapos naka push/pull. Baka hindi mo sila mapagsabay sa isa or dalawang push pull pots.

Make sure na yung humbuckers ay 4-conductor.

price range of push-pull per piece: 350-750

price of humbucker pick-ups with 4 conductors: 7,500 (seymour duncan), 11,500 (gibson)

I would recommend ARCEES hand wound pickups for 2500 PHP, tried them yesterday and I can say...they sound a lot better than my PAF PRO and FRED DiMarzio's... plz guys   check out ARCEES custom pickups instead of SD and DM I promise..they are much better , Raph has a policy...if u don't like..no need to buy.... I even gonna rip out my BURSTBUCKERS from my 57 VOS Goldtop..   his PAF's sound better...I was totally amazed  :)

I have 2 bourns push\pull pot (from spanky) installed in my custom guitar.

That, at kelangan medyo mataas yung knob from the body to allow for the push slack activation.

wag mag alala,, natural yan...

and afaik, were just making things much harder,,,

push/pull = normal/bright sound of your guitar,, or,,, fat/mid sound of your guitar..(controlling the tone)

wag natin piliting gawin syang 'switch',,, potentiometer po yan... ang work nya is to minimize/maximize the sound... bat natin gawing switch? eh di nagka buhol buhol wirings natin, ngangabels ka pa kasi yung ibang pick-up combinations mo,,, goodbye na... .. tama ba?

ganito yan,,, splitting coils?  bili ka toggle switch,,, sacrifice your your guitar,,, bubutasan talaga yan.. switch nag kelangan mo hindi pots...

I agree with r_chino, a push/pull pot and toggle switch can do the same thing.

BTT:

This maybe the wiring the TS wanted:

http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wiring-diagrams/schematics.php?schematic=2h2v2t3w2sp

Edit:  Only diff between a push/pull pot and a toggle switch is that the toggle switch would not be able to let you control tone or volume levels.  That, plus the less destructive installation (no drilling required), makes the push/pull pot a better option for me.

I did this (coil splitting using push and pull pot) to my Les paul and also to an Aria Pro guitar na nagpaayos sa akin. And yes, push and pull potentiometer is definitely a potentiometer with DPDT switch below it. And you can use it to split coils sa mga humbucker equipped guitars and other mods.

And about the normal/bright and fat/mid thing, doesn't have an effect (even if you push and pull down the pot).

I think you better research what a push and pull pot is all about.

Baka dahil naccoil split yung humbucker (fat sounding) at nagiging single coil (trebly and bright).  :-)

Yun mismo ang balak gawin nung thread starter. Doesn't matter kung naka wire as volume or tone yung push/pull pot since built-in DPDT switch lang naman ang naka incorporate sa pot.
