That bro is a Stew Mac Strat.  Stewart McDonald makes authorized Fender bodies and replacement necks for strats and teles.  So in a sense it's a fender, but it came via Stewart McDonald.  I ordered the body and the licensed strat neck from Stew Mac as well as the pickguard which was pre wired with three ceramic single coils.  BAMF was good enough to grab me three alnico single coils and BAMF treat and pot them.  All the other electrics came from extra fender parts I had.  It's got grover 18:1 tuning machines.  I've got a Fender headstock decal on the way.

These projects are great and it's a lot of fun to build your own guitar.  I'm going to start building them to sell, but they will be a little lower quality than this one - reason being is that I doubt that I would be able to sell this strat for what I have spent on it - which basically is more than most of the strats on here are selling for.

Phil, I would say that it would rival those of the American made fenders, even the custom shop pieces if you got the really fancy wood choices. I have made 2 jazz basses and an explorer from Warmoth and StewMac parts with great satisfaction in the quality. The thing with assembling your own guitars is that you get to pick the stuff that goes into it from the ground up. I am in the process of making a Jazzmaster from StewMac parts. The only problem I can see with making a guitar of your own is if you plan on selling it, sometimes they dont sell for as much as the orig guitars (understandably) unless there is really something special about your piece that people want.
