guitar amps, for underground gigs (small venues only)
« on: July 06, 2014, 12:55:50 AM »
hi sir/maam.

not a guitarist, but throwing underground shows on our scene, batangas city.

another thing is, ok lang po ba yung assemble or custom made na amp, na ginamitan ng mga speakers like crown or targa,
if ok saan po kaya posibleng magpagawa or umorder nun.

salamat po.  :)

Pero you can check out their small amps.

+1

my band's vocalist plays guitar occasionally and uses this amp. reliable and cheap. it's around 6k.

you can get it from The Music Source. (Ali Mall cubao, Festival mall alabang or Marquee Mall, Pampanga)

Stagg is a decent amp for the price.

Though if it's me, I'll increase my budget a bit and get myself a used Peavey Bandit 112 instead.

Inuupuan ko yung iba dun (100kg guy) and oks pa naman, he he he. Kaya gusto yung Cort amps ay parang neutral sounding pag clean (both the bass and guitar amps). I tested them na 0 lahat ang equalization.

Good choice yung stagg.

For your budget, I'll go for the STAGG GAR60. really impressed with this amp for the price. takes in pedals very well, nice cleans and EQ +  Reverb are not bad. plus its built like it will last for a long time.

pero tama sila. kung kaya, peavey bandit 112. yan lang yung mga solidstates na feel ko gig worthy. hahahaha most of the SS marshalls i've tried are just... meh. tapos mahap pa :|

30 Watt Tube, Yes pwede.

30 Watt Solid State, mahirap pag maingay ang tugtugan. madaling mabasag ang tunog.

ang ayoko lang sa bandit is that it could be too trebly at times.
nevertheless, gig worthy parin tong amp na to.

and yes, mahal ang marshall lelz

kaya ng 30W tube amp yun given that it's a combo amp with a 12 inch speaker.

I've played at a venue that's 3 or 4 saguijos (ginawang unit of measurement. haha) with a 15W tube amp head with a 1 x 12 cab with no problems cutting through the mix and and kept up with the full band setup alongside another guitarist with a 4 x 12 solidstate amp and still had a lot of headroom. So yeah, a 30W amp with a 1 x 12 cab shouldn't have problems with the venue sizes you mentioned.

4-6k budget for an amp is a joke. you won't get an amp, you'd get a toy amp, just like 500 pesos will get you a toy acoustic guitar in the malls.

having said that, i would suggest a zt lunchbox (elevated) for your guitar amp, and for your bass set-up... peavey 12 inch MONITOR speakers and a sansamp bass driver for that amp sound. a real bass amp is gonna cost you 30K minimum

+1 hahahaha oo nga eh ginawang unit of measurement. 3 or 4 saguijos for me is 70's bistro. and yes, kaya ng 30W tube amp tong venue na to.

True. especially if you beyond the 12 oclock mark.

trudat. and the SS Marshalls have this transformer issue na humihina yung volume bigla while playing. especially sa MG series. :|
