Mmm...why ?
Then what's keeping you from going to the BAMFX Tone Tambayan? If you want to know what it does, listen to it. If you base your purchase decisions solely on recommendations, I don't think you're behaving like an intelligent consumer. Plus, language can be incomplete and inefficient when describing some things so I really recommend that you skip listening to people's adjectives and just bring your guitar to the shop. If it works for you, it works. If it doesn't, at least you know it doesn't.
I agree with Titser_Marco, don't base your purchases not because someone says it good. Try it our for yourself. He did, and he was happy with. I suggest you do the same. If your friends with Greg/Carabao and Balta and live near the Commonwealth area, I can demo my strat, I'm at your disposal, you can drop by my house anytime to try it. For a much convincing feel, you can drop by anytime at our main laboratory where we simulate other uses of the scalarizer on almost all instruments.
Titser_Marco is a formidable player and his tastes for music is somewhat very eclectic. Pihikan sya in terms of tone. For him, if it sounds good, he'd definitely try it out. He was amazed at the results and I was amazed at his ways of playing the instrument. Somehow I get the feeling that he was responsible for making me listen to Neil Young.
You can PM me anytime if you wish to try it out. I'm residing in Commonwealth Hobart Homes.
I'm not "pihikan". I just live by a single sentence: "Whatever works, works."
To everyone who's wondering about the device, I say this again: TRY IT OUT so you can make a decision for yourself. When the Diezel issue was hot, I decided to drop by at Arie's place to test drive the amp. Liked some parts of it, didn't like some - at least after a few minutes of playing around with it. Alex knows this and I'm sure all of us will agree in saying that I can say that the DH works for me in some aspects and my statements stand on fairly good ground because of first-hand experience. Did the same for BAMF's modded Boston HM100 and Big Muff Clone and made judgments for myself. (Although I still have to try out the Big Muff Clone in a relatively open space - that one is a loud son of a bitch.)
Same logic for the scalarizer. I tried it with a solid-state amp, and it was ok. the changes were subtle but you know something happened. I can't really lay my finger on what changed, but something did change.
When I got home, I tried the sucker with an SF Bassman Ten. The difference between pre- and post-scalarizer installation was more pronounced, although I still can't identify what changed. It sounds more pleasing, it's more responsive and it's not as ear fatiguing at high volumes (10 on the channel volume and 5 on the master).
So let's all go to the Tone Tambayan on Saturday and we can all be friends.
