I invented the word "Noypi" in '97 in New York. Ely asked me to write the acceptance speech for MTV Asian Video Choice for "Ang Huling El Bimbo". Years later it was a title for a Bamboo song which was a huge hit. All of a sudden everyone was proud of being Pinoy. The airwaves is swarmed with positive pro-Pinoy songs which is a good sign. It's also the start of controversies with bands lifting songs or song structures from other artists and claiming them as their own. I was driving one day and I heard a commercial on the radio, everybody is heading for the beach this summer and I thought I should do an "obvious" beach song, since I live on the beach. I made it as an exercise to make a nonsense song in 20 mins so here's my version. Everybody seems to be a surfer nowaday's to quote a friend. Question is can they really surf? Surfers to the right, posers to the left, stuck in the middle with you. Enjoy the waves!!!Peace. Okay lang yan he-he. Just setting the record straight.
