for me... pag tamang metal ang tugtugan nyo choose bright cymbals! A Custom, Avedis, Z custom, AA, AAX xe fast response tsaka explosive yung tunog nya.... pwede din yan pang alternative, reggae, rock..
pag mejo jazzy namn yung tugtugan you might choose the dark and warm sides of a cymbals... k custom, K, paragon, handhammered things like that pero still.. wala sa cymbals or sa drumset yan.... nasa drummer din yan kung pano nya mapapalabas yung magandang tunog ng drums...

how do you distinguish your own sound po? ako kasi adapt sakin..
i not happy with my cymbals.. pero kasi commuter ako.. i go for
i'm a fan of darker sounds yet i love deathmetal.. hehe..
gusto ko malaman mga insights niyo kung pano kayo
nabili ng cymbals niyo na fil niyo na para senyo talaga... =)

is it because you use smaller cymbals thats why you can feel your cymbals while you are playing?..just a thought...the cymbals i currently own right now are big size cymbals like crashes that are size 18 and 19 and china that is 20, the reason why i went to this kind of cymbal set up because i want cymbals that cuts thru loud distorted guitars and explodes even on big venues..

give us a list of your current cymbal set that you play and an idea of your genre or drumming style...cheers

I like big sounds, so I like big cymbals.

How do I know if a certain cymbal is the right one?  When I hit it, I feel like I couldn't be happier with a different one. A "mismo" moment.

Or, when I hit it, I think of a dozen other cymbals to match it. Then GAS comes. (hahaha)

I thnk the sound of cymbals is a matter of taste.
When you hear that special crash or ride, u just know that thats the sound you want.

Like when I was looking for a crash. When I first heard the 17" HHX evolution crash I just knew I had to have it in my kit.  It was nice and dark and complex.
u'll know when you hear your dream cymbal.

Just try all the cymbals you can. ask other people to play the cymbal so you can hear it from a listeners point.

JP is a great help when looking for good cymbals. :-D

i should first know what are the genres you play as a drummer. it's important kasi kung hindi tugma yung cymbals mo sa style of playing, hindi masyadong maganda yung labas. for example, i play punk rock, rock, pati kaunting funk. so i'd pick the K Customs, A's, and A Customs in the Zildjian entries.

don't let prices fool you! tingnan mo yung quality ng sound niya. if you think it doesn't fit you, then don't buy it. cheaper cymbals=less sound quality. you should have a trained ear when it comes to getting the cymbals that fit you. and even if napakamahal yan, kung di ka marunong mag alaga at gumamit, hindi lalabas yung buong sound niya.

cymbals are like singing. may voice, may certain pitch, may tone. ganun lang yun. you wouldn't pick a vocalist that sounds like a wolf howling, right? parehas din yun sa cymbals.. :-)

Tulad ng sabi sa akin ni Sensei Jp, kunwari ikaw mismo nakapunit ng cymbals mo, ibig sabihin, it's not the right size for you, go for a much bigger cymbal.
