It is better if the page is much longer to accommodate more items like in the rakista.com classifieds section.

... or at least, do a bit of re-classifying.

Sige, will bring this up.

No promises muna, okay? I think its best if we let the mods vote on this.

By the way, I temporarily doubled the number of threads posted per page. Tell me if this improved things.

Sige, ito currently under development ... track sharing for artists. Pero hindi sa loob ng forum. Masyado na kasing malaki ang database nito, mahirap i-maintain. We will make it a subsite, okay?

first and foremost thank to everyone behind philmusic, not only did i found a place to hang-out and meet fellow musicians, i was able to join a band through this forum. this place have been such a blessing.....

to the mods - can i suggest a church/house of worship forum. medyo malawak kase scope ng music-related ministry pagdating sa churches e. usually pag musician ka, may pagka jack-of-all trades ka. minsan mapupunta ka sa sound reinforcement, sa lights, setup ng mga instruments, power point projection (unless you're a member of one of those mega-churches). sa ngayon kase pag may tanong ka tungkol sa sounds punta ka sa MTPA, pag sa instruments, bass place, pinoydrums, guitar central, pag sa stage lighting - (di ko alam kung saan). so kung pwede i-integrate yun, as long as related sya sa church, dun na lang i-post. suggestion lang po. thanks a lot.

Pwede po ba magkaroon tayo nito para sa mga banda na naghahanap ng prod or manager and vice versa?

That's a good idea - an artist management or concert producer forum. More on the business (ka-ching!) side of music. I'll consider it... if you have any ideas about what type of topics should be in it, by all means, post it here.  :-)

What about a

Thread Hall of Fame forum?

A place for legendary threads that are no longer active.  :-)

This could potentially shed some light to the relatively new members (like me) regarding old issues, the people here, etc.

Hi Jim.

Here are a few ideas for the producers and managers forum:

- well they probably could share tips for others who want to get into the business of producing, managing(ins and outs; dos and don'ts, how to earn money)

- share their experiences (these could be funny experiences, bad
experiences, stuff that would-be producers/managers could either learn from or just get a good laugh out of)

- maybe post events or seminars

- post when they are looking for talent (good for all of us here since we have so many members, so many talent just waiting to be discovered... by the way our band site is ... just kidding :))

- post criteria for new talents (i mean a lot of us here are musicians who really don't know what to do next after they make a demo(yes i have a motive for this forum) so I guess it could help if they could share tips on what musicians should have before approaching producer's or managers)

- interact with other like minded individuals (this is more of a goal than a topic)

- self promotion type of posts(i guess this is also a goal)

That's pretty much it I guess.

Turntableist / Electronica
« Reply #164 on: December 05, 2007, 03:23:40 AM »
i have a few friends who i invited here in Philmusic then tinanong ko kung bakit di man lang sila nag papaka active. Sabi nila "wala naman place para sa mga electronic musicians dyan eh"

Turntablism or turntables are cosidered din kasing musical instrument and wala ito under musicians forums.

Maybe electronic musicians should be given a place here din dito.

Just my 2 cents.

i also have an electronica background pero I don't know kung malaki ba ang electronica scene dyan sa Pinas. I would love to talk shop with fellow people who gig, have gigged and produce specifically for the different electronica genres.

may "electronica" (dont like that word) forum naman dito, wala lang masyadong action

theres the electronicamanila yahoogroups where a lot of the pinoy electronic musicians hang out. in fact lahat ng kakilala ko sa local "scene" dun ko nakilala: silverfilter, the late wolfmann, madz/neon8 of nyko maka(sp?), rubber inc etc etc. i also see some of them here from time to time...and there's me, defected from the 90s/00s manila rock scene, making electronic music since 97 or so as chroma (music here and here). played out a handful of times also in manila and here in davao

hmm havent fired up the beats recently though, im falling in love with my guitars again :)

so lets discuss!

just post something and it might be moved to the Classical Forum, since musicals, light opera and Jazz are a gateway into classical music.

just post and the mods will take care of it... gotta start the traffic 'ya know...

I do love> Webber-Rice, Stephen Sondheim, Lerner-Loewe, Rodgers-Hammerstein,  etc. surely we can talk about "Hey Mr. Producer, Tribute to Andrew Lloyd Webber... Miss Saigon uuuhhh let me think about it.....

Pippin, Godspell, JC superstar, The Wiz...

guitar/bass/keyboards/drums etc repair forum
« Reply #169 on: December 18, 2007, 12:36:53 AM »
i realized that people can repair their instruments themselves without having to wait in line with our local luthiers/repairmen and paying money otherwise spent on other things.mga simple set up lang, diy repairs, ung mga kayang gawin without special tools or training.
this is not to compete sa mga luthiers natin, but to take care of our instruments.thanks!

I don't think this requires a separate forum as the topic of care and maintenance of your gear has been discussed in several threads already... and I don't frequent the GC forums that much! Maybe Poundcake/markflo or some other members can compile the various tips and create a sticky in the GC forum.

I've had the privilege of watching "CATS" and "Miss Saigon" in NYC, and "Les Miserables" and "Phantom of the Opera". this was in 1998. and I must say mismo talaga. i always listen to the orchestra and close my eyes sometimes so that i can appreciate the music.

CATS.  I insisted to see this first because it offers a wide musical spectrum and the choreography. from the dark opening till the ending, was quite an experience for me. if ever you want a quick glimpse into what a musical is, then this is the one you should see. it was also made into video, so there is no excuse for you not to see it. it is also because i love cats.

Favorite songs. "Old Deuteronomy" - melody and great lyrics (syempre TS Ellliot diba), "Jellicle Ball" - the overture.

OK ba yung "Hairspray"?  92% sa rotten tomatoes e.  Medyo hindi ko gusto yung trailer kasi di ko masyadong type yung mga sobrang happy.  Tsaka pakiramdam ko masyado siyang PC.

Yeah, why don't we have one?  I like the idea.  No dissing the metalheads on this forum on points of musicality or feel or phrasing... coz seriously, why should we care?  It's either you're into metal or heavy rock, or you just don't get it altogether.  Sana nga may metal forums din.    :-)
