The characteristics of New Wave drumming

Sinasabi ng iba boring ang tumugtog ng ganitong genre, pero ngayong napakinggan ko uli ang "Flowerfish" ng Sheila and the Insects, lumabas na hindi naman talaga paulit-ulit ang palo ng ganitong genre, o yung sub-genres nito.

Ano ba ang characteristics ng New Wave drummers?

Ang iniisip ko e ito:
1. No excessive riding.
2. Use of repetitive bass patterns.
3. Use of 16 beat hihat playing.
4. No excessive fills.

the cure, is the best new wave band afaic once they started
using a real drummer.

Just like heaven......super sarap ng 8th note hi-hats at bd pattern nya. if you can't make your beat hit the pocket when playing this song forget drumming all in all hehe.

In Beween Days.......yung drum fill intro nya sakto tlga sa kanta as well those
unique patterns employing splash cymbals and open close hi-hat barks hehe.

Hot Hot Hot.........waaaaahhh hirap ako dito nung una tlga dahil dun sa two 16th notes
pattern nya sa 2nd bar ng drum phrase nya. sabi ko....pag may double peds na ko madali na lang to hehe until i learned to do fast double stroke on the bass drum pedal, tnk god!

Close TO me.....hehe again lots of snakey hi-hat grooves here.

Boys Don't Cry........again and again fast 8th notes on the hihat is enough here.

Characteristics of a good new wave drum part...put some soul to it but not too much
