Dents in splash, how do I fix it?
« on: May 12, 2007, 08:33:01 PM »
I got a good deal on a splash, but I guess I got what I paid for. The cymbal is dented to kingdom come. No cracks, and no keyholes whatsoever, and IT STILL SOUNDS GREAT. However, it looks really out of shape, and maybe if I hit the badly dented edges, then maybe i'll worsen its life.

The question is, can I re-hammer it close to its original form? Has anyone in the forum tried this on his/her cymbals? And how the hell do I hammer it?

So Be It.

Ayun, kaninang umaga, may onting improvement! But the dents are still there. Nakakatakot nga i-rehammer. Baka magtunog trashformer 'to pagtapos hehe. Oh well.. pero keep 'em coming! Maybe I'll need third and fourth opinions.

It's a ZXTi splash.

Here are a few shots.

As you can see, it still doesn't lay flat on the majorly dented area, and there are a few smaller dents around the cymbal.

I'm not really ready to lay down the hammer on this yet.

Hehe, I guess yun na nga. Actually, I want to straighten it for aesthetic purposes lang. Sonically, it's ok for my tastes already. Thanks!

Bakit ganyan yung dents niya? was it mounted inverted? or ginawang stack?

Yun nga eh. ALL the warps are dented upward from the splash. Not one looks like a dent from a downward stroke. So either pataas ang palo ng dating owner nito, or inverted ciang ginamit. Hehe. Pinabenta lang kasi ng drummer so I wasn't able to talk to the former owner himself.
