PROJECT: Super Bass
22 X 36 inch long bass drums
NEED: 2 bass drums
How i did it:
-removed all shell hardware and suka cleaned it to shiny new
-removed vinyl cover of both drum bass shells
-Took it to a wood shop
They connected both shells using small strips of woods glued and nailed. the edge of each shell was cut off before being connected to have a space-less connecting fit.
they charged Php 300
PROBLEM:
tho both are both 22" bass drums shells, they are still not identical because they are 2 different brands.
one shell is slightly protruding out on some area. Stripping off the covering reveals how lousy a generic shell's workmanship has. the bass is not perfectly circular at it seems.
SOLUTION:
bought this wood repair pudding and sand paper (yung magaspang) from a hardware
Sand paper - Php 60 (3pcs sand papers)
Pudding - Php 160 (1 can)
DIY shell repair
pudding for the wood. apply generously
let the pudding sip through spaces
use a hard straight material like a credit card to flatten the pudding and to push it well into spaces. this allows it to hold on firmly on the wood and to help you not to accumulate ore debt
what it will normally look like
-Let the pudding dry for 1 hour
after an hour of drying, sand paper it using the rough grade to make faster result.
sand it down until you get a straight plane. apply more pudding on uneven areas and sand paper it until its uniformed.
patching unneeded holes. i put a tape underneath the holes and applied pudding to hold the material temporarily and letting the pudding dry before sanding it down to
after sanding. no more holes!
-After pudding and sanding treatment
put more pudding then sand it down until you get a uniformed plane
