Let me add one more:  Jeff Tweedy

His talent really shines playing the acoustic guitar, but he's great with those orchestrated guitar parts for Wilco too.

I would have to say George Harrison, Tom Petty, Brian May of Queen, Keith Richard and Ronnie Wood of the Stones.
Be well,

i like this thread!
i finally have the chance to shout out my guitar heroes!

MIKE EINZIGER of INCUBUS / time lapse consortium! :-o
-i've covered most of the songs from their albums such as Make yourself, & S.C.I.E.N.C.E. as well as some from the alternative sounding  morning view, a crow left of the murder & the latest light grenades.
-his chordings/voicings aren't ordinary! songs like PARDON ME has weird looking chords on the verses.
-his way  of using & combining his pedals are really outwordly! makes u think, how d f** did he do that? considering that he doesn't use loopers! 'THE WARMTH' & SICK SAD LITTLE WORLD are good examples!
-when he shifts to playing jazz, crystal clear!  SUMMER ROMANCE(anti-gravity) & DEEP INSIDE explains that clearly!
shredding? u will tell Joe Satriani & Steve Vai to allow Mike to join the next G3! listen to  trouble in 421!

ADAM JONES of TOOL!  :-o
-his riffs really kicks ass! now who says progressive metal always has to be about shredding for the guitar parts & solos?
adam will get u from one place to another & from here to there & will bring u back from where u came from w/ his riffs!
-the way he use the wah pedal is superb! LATERALUS has a weird wah solo!
-he's capable of playing AGAINST his band members! he's very good on playing odd-time signatures!actually, all of the members from TOOL!

I think Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead and Graham Coxon of Blur are two excellent guitarists that are rarely given their due. Their guitar playing really changes the complexion of their bands' songs. Listen to "Just" by Radiohead - wow

ok yun. it's spelled kyrie, by the way. lupit rin solo nya sa black/white from the welcome to the real world album. that's the same album na pinanggalingan ng kyrie saka broken wings.

I love the dude..."Everything I Do..", "Please Forgive Me", etc...

He has a sig Gretsch guitar though...but I believe he's still underrated.

Steve Farris (ulet)...

Keith Howland (Chicago - now)

Dawayne Bailey (Chicago - before - the bandana-on-head-with-koala-on-guitar guy)

the late Terry Kath (Chicago Transit Authority then)

Sheldon Reynolds (then EWF, married Hendrix's sis, formed Devoted Spirits)

Dominic Miller (Sting)

and yes, the guitar player from The Survivors - wrings the tele into a aural juggernaut live..Anybody knows his name?
