haha.  pero it's kinda nice to look at though.  at least pogi yun home theater mo with all those tubes lit up, even if you don't actually patch it up - eye candy lang just like those tubes in cheap rack stuff.  placebo effect na lang!  cause i can't imagine the 60 USD tube sound.

do let us know when you get it skunky.  mukhang may A/B test na naman tayo sa tube vs SS power amps!  yahoo!

How do these things look for $60?

instead of asking how it looks, the question should be: what is in it? and how does it sound?. if you are electronically savvy, you can tell where they may have cut corners to get the price that low. although many people can't justify spending money on a tube amp with a name and a history behind it, it would be good to know how much your 60 bucks is getting you, right? the way i see it, 60 dollars is still 60 bucks and nothing to sneeze at so it would make sense to pay close attention to what kind of quality you are getting or the lack thereof..

hi-fi systems.. yes, I love hi-fi systems. This is what got me into amps.

ang dami kong schematics ng speakers/amps/receivers (pati power conditioners), pics ng hi profile systems, at member ng kung ano anong forums dati.. GAS lang ang ibinigay sa akin.  :-D

I agree on an earlier post, speakers provide a bigger impact on the sound rather than the receiver or amp (assuming everything else is decent).

Pioneer is a good starting point. My cousin works for Bose, so minsan tambay ako sa listening room. Paguwi mo, parang ayaw mo na gamitin yung tv at component sa bahay. hahaha

Dito masarap tignan ang tube amps, sobrang classy.  :-D

The output transformer more than any other component in a valved power amp which dictates performance quality. And a good quality output transformer are very expensive!
