it's more than a popularity contest... heroes are supposed to inspire u to pick up the guitar... did kotzen or friedman did that to you? also, a guitar hero goes beyond guitar playing...

exactly my point. sometimes magazines or other articles use popularity as a basis for content. or sometimes they post articles as a marketing ploy.

Siguro by "hero," parang He-man or Conan ang ibig sabihin, more on comics.

Pag sila Friedman kasi, parang "sublime paralytic" type of hero eh hehe, or "pen mightier than sword" type of hero ehehe

billie joe armstrong and john lennon inspired me to pick up a guitar. Are they considered guitar heroes?

up to you bro. :) if you consider them your heroes, then so be it. it's all subjective.

i would definitely agree! Joe of greenday is very influential...he is one of those guitarist that inspired and improved my rhythm playing. His tone and rhythm is one of a kind.
Their first underground label album '1039/smoothed out slappy hours' is the best album. Di nakakasawa pakinggan.  :-)

There maybe many other relevant guitarists but Zakk is a personality.. You can relate to Zakk. Well at least I can, We both like beer, lifting weights and we both have a daughter.

did they inspire you to "pick up" the guitar? or did they - kotzen and friedman - to be better at the guitar? two different things.

well, if you picked up a guitar for the 1st time because of them, they probably are your heroes.

kotzen and friedman are top notch guitarists, but they won't measure up to zakk wylde if we had a "guitar hero" contest. slash and zakk wylde are guitar heroes.

slash lng dapat! wahahahah!  :-D

i definitely agree about 1039, paborito ko yung going to pasalacqua, simple lang pero cool, lao na pag live.
In fact, their influence extends not just to guitar playing style, but also to my gear choices.
I love the strat due to billie joe's heavy use of the guitar model during his early years.
I also love and own the Les Paul Junior for the same reason.
Lennon's geetars have eluded me though, ang mahal ng Rickenbacker! kaya I just set my eyes on a nice Epiphone Casino. :-D

Buhayin natin si zakk.  Berserkers!!  I like zakk wylde.  If you read his interviews, he's very true to himself, no nonsense talker, no candy-coated fake remarks, and I don't think he's afraid to be labelled close-minded to other genres.  Pinakagusto ko, "if ever I see Dave Grohl again, I'm gonna kick his ass.  He put some p.ussy songs in Ozzy's record, and I have to play on it!!  So what if he's the drummer for Sh.itvana?!"

I'm sure napanood nyo na to..  But hell, what emotion in just a minute and a half huh?  It just gets me everytime I hear it.  Listen to the farewell in the notes!
