Who did you listen to for blues playing in your development years (pre stardom)?  I know your other influences (eg, PG) pero sino pinakinggan or influences mo sa blues genre mismo?  Among the technically-advanced local guitarists from the 90s, isa ka sa pinaka ma-blues eh.

Kumbaga sa Friendster, by how many degrees are you connected to Robert Johnson?

Hmmmm... Guns N' Roses siguro. Kasama na rin siguro yung mga bluesy na glam bands: Cinderella, LA Guns, etc.... Come to think of it, kahit yung mga glam bands nung araw (Poison, Warrant, Skid Row) pentatonic-based din kaya mala-Blues na rin ang tunog.

Actually, hindi Blues ang tingin ko sa ginagawa ko at the time, basta alam ko lang pentaonic yun. Hindi ko na-realize yung pagka-bluesy until i-point out sakin ng teacher ko na BLues-based na pala ginagawa ko hehehe

May nabasa akong Vai interview na sabi nya nagustuhan nya yung ginagawa ni Clapton na maraming space in between phrases so nag-investigate ako, bili ako ng Clapton tapes.   Nabanggit din ni Vai si SRV kaya bili din ako ng Texas Flood hehehe Then nagkaroon ng Blues Revival at the time: Jeff Healey Band, comeback si BB King, comeback si Buddy Guy, 24 Nights ni Clapton, Gary Moore Still got da Blues, etc, etc

Nalulong ako sa Blues nung sinimulan ko i-trace ang roots nung mga sikat. Na-diskubre ko sina Gatemouth Brown, Freddie & Albert King, Robert Cray, etc. May nag-regalo sakin ng CD box set ng mga obscure Blues recordings...sayang di ko na mahanap ngayon.

Siguro yung chain parang ganito:

GnR/Cinderella/Poison--->Vai/PG/Satch/Gambale/Vinnie Moore--->Clapton/SRV/Gary Moore/Hendrix--->BB King/Buddy Guy/Albert King--->Gatemouth Brown/T-Bone Walker/Robert Johnson---> Jonny Lang/Richie Kotzen/Keb' Mo'

sir perf, during the 'rivermaya' era, what's the dirt pedal you mostly use and bring with you?

Wala akong dirt pedal nun. May bitbit akong Fender Bronco na amp (15w), sinasaksak ko sa isang 2x12 na cab tapos mic-in. Yung roadie ko tiga-switch ng distortion channel para wala akong tinatapakan hehehe Ginamit ko yun sa isang concert sa Folk Arts Theater...cute tignan amidst the Marshall half stack, Mesa Boogie and Marshall combo amps hehehe

sir perf, how often do you practice your guitar? do you have the 30hr practice like s.vai? and lastly, ano pong dirt/disto pedal madalas nyong ginagamit ngayon? actual pics po sana ng pedal... salamat po

I play guitar everyday, sometimes up to 12hrs. Ito trabaho ko dito. My personal practice routine lasts for 2 hours, sometimes 3.

Nowadays bihira ako gumamit ng dirt pedal: either rekta sa amp ko or rekta sa POD XT. Pero may pedals akong nakatago: Boss SD-2, Boston HM-100 (stock), SOldano GTO Supercharger. Google mo na lang pics.

May nagyayaya, but nothing worthwhile.

No serious invites to gig again in Pinas.

PG meets a LOT of people... over 50% are probably guitarists. I doubt he remembers me
