Does anyone have $1,500 to spare?  There's a 1958 Duo Sonic that would perhaps be fun to play with.

interesting Bridge design "poptune ptb500r" from japan (sadly not in production right now) , simple design but can work, hehe, if someone would machine a tune o matic style adapter like this, para drop in nalang for a cheap bridge fix haha. also I'm pretty sure they also modded the roller bridge to compensate the difference in radius.

I'm thinking of replacing my stock Jazzmaster bridge on my Squire VM JM, with a Mustang bridge. Is it worth it? I'm experiencing a slight rattling and buzzing on the bridge saddles of high E strings 19th to 21st fret.

Thank you. Or if you have any suggestion on bridge replacement.  :)

My views regarding your concern.
1. The mustang bridge is made for 7.25 radius fretboard while your squier jm has the modern 9.50 radius. I do not know if it will drastically change the playability and sound coz I personally have not tried that mod on my guitars.
Other options are staytrem and mastery but they are expensive.

2. About the rattle and buzzing sound...have you tried installing 11s or 12s string on it? Also, some folks suggested in applying nail polish on the screws after finishing the intonation of the guitar. You might try it out first before pulling the trigger on a new bridge.

I had my VM Jag replaced with a Mustang bridge based on my guitar tech's recommendation.  He had to change the thimbles out to make the 7.25 profile fit to a 9.5.  It fans out a bit on the string spread as a result.  I love that it now has this bell tone that resonates at the end when I strum.  Great addition to the natural acoustic tone.

i have no problems in mine. they came in stock in the classic player series. no more string skippage but sometimes holds off the string slide if you constantly use the floating tremolo. if i have extra money...i will change them to mastery.

if its good enough for thurston and lee...then it is good enough for me.  :-D

Here's the scoop. Japanese and Squier VM offset hardware is usable but you have no guarantee that the bridges and trems they use are manufactured with low tolerances or margins for error. They’re pretty bad.

An AVRI/AV bridge is considerably heavier and with a little nail polish to the screws before setup should be a dream to play. Vintage American hardware doesn’t even need nail polish a lot of the time and I suspect that earlier AVRI models don’t either. You know, when the tooling is still fresh, etc.

Also take into account that Jazzmasters and Jaguars don’t give a crap about what strings you like. They were designed for 11s or HEAVIER for standard tuning. You can make it work for lighter gauges, but that’s not what they were designed for. Remember, initially they were sold to jazzers and then to surf musicians. That's usually flatwound 12s or 13s.

Just follow how they were supposed to be set up in the 60s. The design is good but the circumstances around the construction will lead to your typical problems. You get what you pay for but there are workarounds.

Oh, and I still absolutely hate the TOM bridge on Jazzmasters and Jaguars that weren’t designed for it. If you have a CP or a Mascis, fine and dandy so long as you don’t abuse the trem but I’ll never understand the point of a TOM on a 7.25”.

we have the same jm. i'm using 11s on mine. but you can just use 10s if you want considering the alterations that fender made on the classic players.
