drum track recording
« on: November 28, 2007, 08:36:05 AM »

I've tried recording with a metro, tsaka walang metro. So far, mas nailalabas ko yung fills ko kapag wala metro kasi wala kang inaalala at tunog mo lang naririnig mo. Pero that's just me, kasi I play pop. I think kelangan talaga sa Prog ang metro. If you can do notes, i-notate mo na lang fills mo. If not, subukan mo i-pitik left foot mo, gawin mo metro without affecting the hats. ganyan ginawa ko sa isang song namin. I hope that helped.

- wag kana! pweh!

if you are having difficulties recording with a metronome, i suggest you ask your bandmates to record scratch tracks and then use that as your guide, at least it give you that live band feel, another thing is record the song by parts, lets say chorus muna then verse and last but definitely not the least PRACTICE. Im a guitar player pero everytime meron ako free time i go to a studio with my ipod and play. before you now it youll be really comfortable playing with click tracks.

ganito ginawa namin nung unang single namin. hirap pa kasi ako noon kasi inconsistent pa palo ko. di pa ako nag-aral ke JP nun eh. nyahaha.

pero yung latest recording namin for a morning show dito sa province namin, di na ako gumamit ng metronome. mabilisan na recording kasi....

i think kung gagamit ka ng scratch, saka by part ang rec nyo. the more kelangan ng click track. hirap at sumabay sa tracks na bumiilis o bumabagal. imo mas importante sa pop and click o steady time, kaysa jazz o fusion etc. isipin mo lang kabanda mo ung click na sobrang ganda ang time,at kung magre2kord kayo na naka click dapat lahat nakaka rinig ng click. otherwise kung may kabanda ka na medyo bumabagal o bumibilis mahihirapan ka o kaya patayin mo sa monitor un

You can try Blackbox studios MAKATI.

http://www.blackboxmusicstudio.com/

You can talk to the guy and explain that you will be recording drum tracks only para lower rates.

awesome sir! thank you!

you can also search for POINTBEE MULTIMEDIA (QC) and SOUNDKITCHEN(QC) as well.

my advise is to negotiate with the studio owners on the rates since you'll only be doing drum tracks.your budget is low btw bro so you might want to level your expectations. :)

ano bang tugtugan niyo bro?

800 php for everything? ... hmmm, medyo kulang. even in davao standards, mahirap yan.

try recording live with a zoom q3 na lang muna.

ahh pwedeng pwede yun. depending on the song, and how good you are playing with a metronome, baka nga may sukli ka pa dyan. yun nga lang, you have to be bestfriends with a metronome

yun din yung pineprepare ko as a drummer. sticking with the metronome.  :-D pero we'll try a solution by using a full band live recording as a backing track while recording drums. effective ba yun? given na yung song was played perfectly live.  :)

my advice, pre-record a rhythm guitar and bass track with click track.
then ibigay mo yun sa recording guy mo, sabihin mo you'll play along with that one.

the only way you can say the song was played perfectly live is if you all played along to a metronome.

actually, kahit nga may metronome, most of the time, di pa rin talaga perfect, hehe.

as to answer your question: nope, you cant use the live playing as your backing track. sakit sa ulo sa mixing nyan. although technically, pwede naman ... pero yun nga, sobrang sakit lang sa ulo sa mixing
