i find the grains a bit weird..maybe just not my taste, especially with those circular things (don't know what they're called but i see them in furniture).  looks like a 4-piece body at the least.  i prefer either 1 or 2-piece bodies.

They're called knots.  :-D

You'll find those on Swamp Ash as well. You just put filler on it. :-)

Knots--like weird grains--add character IMO. :-P

yeah but they are just too defined on that photo.  i don't like it aesthetically.  ok sa akin kahit grain pattern lang.  kahit nga hindi straight and tight when it comes to solidbody wood.  :-)

Knots are ok with solid bodies -- up to a point.  They're a no no on acoustics,  and never use them with necks.

But the best flamenco guitars I've heard had small knots on them.  My flamenco has two, but I flooded it wit superglue.

Some say 200 degrees farenheit over night in an oven should do the trick.
But To me air dried is best.  Just leave it in a garage or your room stickered.  They say 1year per inch of thickness.  Haste makes waste, so take your time.

Any pics? :-D

Ay sorry bro!

Stickering is just putting two 1/4 x1/4 inch sticks on the base of the wood.  That way air can travel under the wood, kasi kung walang sticks at sahig o shelf Lang naka rest yung wood, mabagal ang seasoning.  Parang tuntungan.

Good luck!

Pics? :-D :-D

Nice! Sticker it and forget about it for now.  You don't want to rush and make a guitar out of it, then to find out it will move or crack.

oh yeah, btw.

they've been with me for quite some time now. and PLANK 1 has a huge crack in the middle all the way down covering about 3/4 the length of the plank.

while plank 2 doesnt have any huge cracks, just really small short ones.

Is the crack on the big one seen on the other side?  How wide is the crack? Or is it hairline? Cracks appear when the wood gets dry.  I'd put it outdoors (under a shade or a shed, away from sun and elements).  The humidity should close it up over time, just keep it away from the  sun.  If after a few months the crack is still there you'll have to work around it.  Thin it, turn it into a drop top over a mahogany body.  Yum!  Just pour superglue on the cracks, clamp and there!

Or you can just donate it to my stash

If you have 2 heavy duty clamps and some elmer's wood glue you can close that clamp.  If done right the crack will be invisible.  How wide is it?

You can brush on wood glue diluted with water then clamp it shut for security... Give it a few days.
