balik idlewood!!  tara na hahaha

i'm hoping to get the initial part of the lacote guitars started, the jointing and the preparation of the necks.  the planks are big enough for head and back plates and rosette rings.  fine tune the bending form and the solera template, and top preparation..  then we'll thickness hehehe

but i need to finish that 7 string   good thing i'm not a professional luthier.  yari ako sa pace at sa ADD work habits hahaha

enjoy ako sa fieled trip. next time we'll look for matching sides for the kamagong back plates hehehehe

It's close to hypermart in libis.  Rosario side.

We'll see how this wood will hold up.  I'm more concerned with it's workability than it's tone, since I believe that the top dictates the sound and the back and sides just reflect it.  We'll see.

It's not a true rosewood, unfortunately.

Marikina side.  I forget the street name (the address and map is somewhere back in this thread) but the place is located just before that street turns into two way traffic.  It's on the one way traffic side with a huge baige gate.  You might want to get in touch with Eric (redballs17) because he's the one that knows the contact person there.

Hi joseph.

When is this concert?  If I work on these regularly I may finish it early June or even earlier :-D  It may be too late.

I may do 2 lacote guitars.  Or maybe 1 panormo.  The shape is basically the same, the only difference is the bracing under the hood and the bridge shape, which will be a test of my craving skills  The scale will be 630mm and with slotted headstock.  I really don't like friction tuners unless I use pegheads tuners, which will be very costly.

We'll see.  If I like it I'll concentrate on this kind of guitar.  I tend to jump from model to model. :-D

me and leo can schedule a recital/concert anytime at edsa shrine

we also target to have a concert at paco park within the year

also, the ust guitar dept will also hold a guitar festival sometime august

basta available na yung guitars, gawa tayo ng event to showcase them :)

ok na magka niche ka on 19th century guitars. Bibihira ang luthiers who exclusively build these kind of guitars :)

i would love to play a period correct copy of lacote and panormo to play the classical period pieces on my repertiore :)

best regards :)

sounds good.  i'll make these prototypes and see where it will go :-)

i'm picking the brain of one american luthier who specializes in early guitars in terms of dimensions and bracing.  he said that some guitars were not as ornate as what we usually see, so that's a big relief for me  also, though the tonewoods are traditionally maple and spruce, he said they used wood that was available to them at that time (supports my theory about how we see tonewood today).  so in a way i get his blessing to make one out of philippine hardwoods.
  i'm bad at details.  in fact he wants to see my work when they're done :-o

time draw up the plans...

Mikko are those the planks we dug up at the warehouse? Looking good.

Btw, I got a fly cutter from han's and I'm going to try it out in making wood rossete  rings today.  A tool review maybe?  :-D

probably not.  personally i'm not a fan of fancy inlay.  they're the first to break/fall off over time.  plus i'm not good at it
