then SETUP Number 1 is gonna be your best bet to that situation...
though dapat ground up eh pulido ang gears mo from the pedals
to amp, i mean bad in bad out...yup u could adjust the controls to
eliminate what your saying na crackle and stuff..(see the youtube clip
that is the setup#1, no crackle stuff as seen on the last parts
with the sustain legato lead lines and the notes even sustains...
pero now setup 2 nako  :-D some trade offs but worth it sa tugtugan ko, depende din sa trip/style mo...)

though majority ng  NG-100 users here not really concerned or too finicky
about the hum or ground noise (the subtle ones) but more on the unwanted
feedback that is produced when feeding a guitar (with a hot pickup to begin with) though a high gain pedal or amp. kaya we use the SETUP Number 2, which is to apply Gating and Comp and attack function of NG-100, more like to give more punch sa chord works and start and stop type riffs gating...

(i read that LOG guitarists use Compressor/Gates as a their Noise Gate
to their hot Mesa Amps! (much like a NG-100 with Comp/Gating capabilities
as said in post#1 and so...)

im not sure if i anwered ur querry or so...

rock  on!!!

Now i see how you guys applies noisegate..... I better check it myself on JB.  Is there someone here who has or experienced using ISP Decimator noisegate? I read many reviews with rating this one is superb noisegate. Unfortunatey wala atang distributor or dealer dito sa pinas para ma test.

Thanks,

i read some asking for reviews ng pedal nato pero wala pa ko nakita,
i got one and have some time so here it is:

Review: Boston NG-100

ive recently bought a 2nd hand but mint condish Boston NG-100
(steal price if you ask me)...for the reasons:

1. never pako naka-try ng stomp na noise gate/noise supressor
2. mint condish at super low price...
3. check boston effects in general...

Construction:

first ko na-try and mahawakan ng close encounter hehehe...
the casing's good, metal talaga (compared to behringers)
even the thumb screw is metal (compared to the real deal Boss)
i think Boston's can withstand gig abuse (imho), parang Boss tank...
the Led's dual type, when no signal passing its orange and when the
gate opens it will be red...pretty cool!

Sound/Contols

at first akala ko its a direct copy of the Boss NS-2 pero hindi eh...
4 Knobs to tweak and at first nung i plugged it to my board na-
weirduhan ako kasi when i test a new pedal i put all the knobs on
12'oclock, so i turned my distortion pedal on then the Boston,
holy shi*t mas umingay ung noise ko! akala ko sira ung pedal kaya
mura but then...

i tried to zero all the knobs...but then my sound became muffled...
i was gettin nervous by this time na...sus...and then...

i turned the Level control on 9/oclock...then played some riffs, whoa
noise/hum reduced talaga, with added boost pa...by this time im
beginning to like this pedal, so to set the unity gain meaning na hindi
halata ung pag On ung Boston i set it at siguro 8'oclock and all the other
knobs on ZERO yes as in zero! and it will cut off all excess notes/hum
na ayaw ko (playing style/setup ko that is)

By the way im using a semihollow body guitar (prone to feedbacks and all)
and a fender 112 amp (set clean & freakin loud!)

i mean sakto sakin ung controls na, eto na permanent settings ko:

Level: 8-9 oclock
Attack: Zero as in Off
Decay: Zero as in Off
Sens: Zero as in Off

I can play fast metal stop and start riffs with no hum/feedback even with
my distortion pedal's gain turned all the way up...cool!

Bonus?

one thing pa na oks is nung nagexperiment pako sa settings is pwede mo
rin syang gawing booster! as i mentioned kanina having the level control
set to 9o'clock or higher will boost ur overall signal (that is if you set the Attack,
Decay,Sens at unity setting in conjuction with your other effects) so i can say
this booster capability is a bonus...

and pwede  rin syang maging almost like Volume Swell Simulator, like set the
controls like the Attack on FULL and the Decay knob like 9'oclock or sumthing
Sens on ZERO/Off and u could mimic a Volume Swell like parts..cool!!!

lastlly, im not a fan of Limiters pero i think this pedal can also mimic a limiter
(i guess because limiters and noise reduction are like in the same family  :-D)
playing with the settings can give you Limiter Pedal like sounds...

Overall

i am really liking this pedal, and i think it will stay on the board...plus points
din ung mas maliit sya sa standard compact pedals...medyo di ko pa masyadong
maintindihan ung SENS control pero soon siguro (when i set it to zero its ok but
when i set it higher its like i turned the pedal off no effect whatsoever...) and of course medyo naudlot ung GAS ko to buy/try one of those NS-2 hehehe yeah i know its not the real deal but hey it gets the job done!

good pedal overall, does the Noise Gating thing for me plus more...
and for the price i got it was a steal!!!

Rock On!!!

nice review sir! gives justice to boston pedals, though i've never owned one!

___

some updates!

this is for the gating function of the Boss NG-100
(obviously with your gain/drive stomps) and the
significance of its placement in your chain...

(though i think  this has been mentioned before pero repeat lang para astig!)

_______________

Setup # 1 "for the purist..."

(for recording sessions na ur in the control room,
or some gigs na low voume levelslang sa gains...)

if you have noise-free guitar, good electronics, no scratchy pots, great cable,
great gain pedals then this will suit you:

Guitar ---> distortion pedals---> Boston NG-100---> Mod or Delays...

basically the NG-100 in this setup works JUST LIKE a Volume pedal AFTER your distortion units (as opposed to Volume pedal INTO a Distortion which controls the GAIN not the VOLUME) so snap tlaga sound/noise as in, no bleed in high gain settings...

note: this is really i think how a sound engineer would put a Noise Gate in the signal chain...

__________________

Setup # 2 "Alternative Noise Gating for the extremez!"

(this is actually how i use mine now...not like before nung sa
video, yep works for low levels pero pag live situation na this
is the setup to go...boston ng-100 right after ur guitar...)

again i repeat right after ur guitar... then follow these settings:

level: 9oclock or so...
atak at zero as in off
decay at zero as in off
sens at (depends, mines usually on 12noon, setting it lower
will make the gate more sensitive...)

for players who are in to the extreme drive settings, and guitars with
noisy pickups and whatnots...try this setup...

Guitar---> Boston NG-100---> your distortion pedals---> Mod/Delays...

yup first in! mismo! just after ur guitar!

in this setup the NG-100 works as if it's your VOLUME Control ON YOUR Guitar. (though more faster than your pinky hehehe...automatic that is!)

note: notice when a Guitar into a HIGH GAIN Cranked AMP  and turning your Volume pot to ZERO eh there would still be what i call a "BLEED", it sounds like a pink noise or something, not noticeable naman for live playing which is yun ang panalo! same with the NG-100 ung setup na to...

i reccomend this SETUP#2 for most players, ung catch lang is ung slight bleed pero i guarantee you guys, it won't be noticeable! great for start and stop riffs!
and eliminating extreme feedback sh*t!

__________

thanks guys sa mga comments sa review!!!

rock on!!!

i had been using a couple of boston noise gates for a number of years na, my setup is guitar - noisegate - other fx.

i also used the swell feature to produce the synth / pan flute sounds.

I had to let go all noise gates when I got a korg ax1000g, ayos na din kc noise gate nun.

the boston noisegate has been indispensible for all my pedalboard setup, and was one of the last pedals that took me a hard time to let go. :-(

bro i dont use na the setup number 1 kasi i find it not too okay lalo na pag live and
loud stage volumes eh...
___

sa setup ko ngaun is number 2 here are how my controls are set:

LEVEL: madalas just above 9oclock (just to give a slight boost)
ATTACK : OFF
DECAY: OFF
SENS: madalas it is on 12noon (half), setting it lower like 10,9,8,7 oclock results in a faster type gating...
