medyo dikit lang ang mars volta, fall of troy, coheed, and at the drive in.

+1000.  agree w/ that.  to-mera's my current favorite prog band.  definitely prog w/ taste!

if you're into 'more than you can handle' music, try out Unexpect. crazy stuff.  not for the faint of heart and the narrow-minded.  avante garde.

for the poll, the mighty Rush gets my vote...

fuseboxx - 1st pinoyprog to be listed at www.progarchives.com
Eternal Now - One of the pioneering acts sa pinas, about to release (hopefully) their debut album this year.

I would also say that Dragonforce is more power metal in pretty much the same vein that Gamma Ray, Helloween, and Iced Earth are.

Also check out this youtube video of Porcupine Tree's Steven Wilson duking it out with Opeth's Mikael Akerfeldt in a classic prog rock trivia quiz.  It's highly recommended to also check out all the bands mentioned in the questions to absolutely get what prog is.  It's more than just instrumental virtuosity and time changes, mind you.

Claudio is a musical genius.

3
Liquid Tension Experiment
Kansas
Genesis
Yes
King Crimson
Dream Theater
Ayreon
Symphony X
Rush
The Fall of Troy
Tool

i agree, i dont think coheed is pure prog, more on emo, maybe because of the melodies and some songs na may emo feel. Pero they have songs na malapit na sa prog and the themes din sa kanta (adam and eve figures in a sci fi setting ata?) pero di lang nman yun ang components of prog eh. we have different opinions about coheed. Anyway enough of the coheed talk, lets talk about REAL PROG BANDS!how about kraut rock? :-D
