Kahit ako, noong una 'di ko rin masakyan ang tugtugan nila.  First time ko silang nakitang ka-headline nila ang Porcupine Tree para sa Damnation album tour, nag-walk out pa nga ako kasi na-weirdohan ako sa music.  Two years later, bumalik silang tumugtog, sila ang headliner.  Tsaka na lang sila nag-click sa akin noong nakita ko live kung paano nila pinapatugtog yung mga kantang napili mula sa plakang Still Life, Deliverance, Damnation, tsaka lalo na yung mga kantang galing sa Blackwater Park.

Noong isang Lunes, pangatlong beses ko silang makitang tumugtog...grabe ang response noong mga nasa audience...this was just right before Dream Theater was going to hit the stage.  I'm looking forward to seeing them for a fourth time when they properly release the Watershed album this June and tour for it this fall/winter.

Ako nung una kong napakinggan, di ko gusto. pero I continously listened and pumasok sa isip ko yung lalim ng music nila. Good thing nalito ako sa Otep at Opeth, nakilala ko tuply ang Opeth.

@deadwing....ei boss...you based at?lupit...lam ko tong gig na to...just heard of it..if im not mistaken prog tour to diba? kasma nila ung between the buried and me tama ba?..haha..kanya kanyang perception lang naman yan about what you like most on how your music would be played.if with such strong angst or majestic sanctuary circling the atmosphere...hehe...

future of metal??? hmmm...  para sa akin.. metal reigns the rock genre...  it outlived all genre's.. parang walang time frame.. metal is everywhere.. it just lurks like a ticking bomb waiting to explode.. metal is individual.. blacksmiths that mold a personality that would make someone have their own individuality and a sense of belonging.. hail metal!

Siguro back to basics ang next phase ng modern metal. Over saturated na kasi technically ang metal IMO. Lahat naka trigger, Pro tools, pitch shifter at kung anu ano ginagawa na sobrang teknikal pero wala ang concept ng songwriting (ahem ahem...Beneath the Massacre anyone?) Sweep dito sweep doon, shred wala namang phrasing, may vocals, walang lyrics. Extremity game e.

Ang future siguro balik sa Obituray, Bolt Thrower, Sodom style. Less technical pero in your face. Gusto ko madinig ulit yung style ng Sacred Reich na ganda ng songwriting pero in your face at hindi masyadong ma-palabok.

haha..ang tawag jan eh nintendo metal!..too much sweep can cause my ear lobes to produce pus..ahaha..it really comes to a point with too much skills and too much notes being played, the real essence of a song construction fades away. What we need is a music that is simple, not too techy but the essence of a song with a 'catchy' part in it. I always liked cynic, pestilence and the bands alike that mixed distorted notes, blasting drum patterns with jazz styles. Music will not die.It all needs time to progress and branch out....we need to bring in the jazz mixed with metal again!

Sa Seattle tayo naka-base, man.

Parating din dito ang Iron Maiden.  Puro yung mga lumang kanta lang ang tugtugan nila ngayon.  Pagkatapos nila, Judas Priest sabay opener nila yung Testament mga few days later.  Astig ulit ang Testament, lalo na ngayong bumalik si Skolnick sa lead guitar.  Sa mga mahilig sa old-school thrash metal, kunin niyo na yung bago nilang plaka...yung Formation of Damnation.  Yan na ata ang magiging metal album of the year para sa akin...until pagdating ng bagong plaka ng Mastodon later this year.

Mga few weeks ago lang siya lumabas.  Nalaman ko lang na matindi ang hatawan dito noong kausap ko yung isang tropa kong nakikita ko lang tuwing tumutugtog ang Dream Theater dito.  Sabi niya sa akin, bumalik si Skolnick sa Testament, kaya sabay subok naman ako kung nandiyan pa rin ang bangis nila.  Not disappointed, man!

dud meron na sa recto (nocturnal shop) 35pesos lang ang isang copy :-D :-D kakabili ko lang un bago un soilwork at testament :-D
