i'm not sure if it's just me, but i find the story of light tracks more grounded and less abstract than vai's previous releases. sounds more like satch than steve to me.

May tremolo, masyado madaming pickups, may pickguard, tree of life inlays (yuck talaga), monkey grip on the JEM models tyaka parang yung overrall design nya parang ang metrosexual ng dating. Di ko talaga trip.

That was also one of my impressions about Vai's guitar. As if there were so many things.

Later on, I understood one thing : your guitar is your instrument. It represents/reflects who you are : your imaginations, your artistry, your feelings, emotions etc.

Perhaps, Vai's guitar is an extension of himself, a mirror of his personality and musicianship, and his preferences.

Artists are free to use everything in their power to express themselves. And of course, it is his signature guitar, so he might as well put his "signature" on it.
"Musicians are, in a sense, able to manipulate energy in the form of sound. We are able to understand the nature of sound and mold it to our liking. Among other kinds of professions, we are the ones who can wield energy in one of its purest forms."

On the contrary, i like it. Vai designed it that way. Eye catching. On the trem part, how will he do divebombs and trem flutters without it? And besides, the rg was designed as the simpler version of the jem.

The only thing that i don't like about it is the steep price tag. I still love my jem though..

I love my Jem! It's THE design that caught my eye. Kakaiba from the rest. Maraming pick ups?

Now I'm loving it more.
