Your ideal recorded Marshall/Mesa boogie HEAVY Rhythm tone
« on: June 14, 2008, 11:36:02 AM »
hey guys. it seems ive been starting a lot of discussions lately. haha.

anyway, what is your favorite HEAVY MUSIC rhythm tone. i didnt want to use any one genre as an anchor point for this discussion because marami pang genres na mabigat

i have two ideal tones for two different amps:

Marshall: CONVERGE

i love this band. i could care less about the vocals. but this is one of the only hardcore/metal bands out there that have a pretty standout tone. lots of snarly mids, biting treble and minimal LOWS. i hate lows in guitar rhythm. natatakpan ang bahista. his lead fills are also amazingly crisp and twangy. halata mo talagang marshall ang ginagamit nya. production is top notch too.

Converge - The Broken Vow

Mesa Boogie: BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME

man, this band kicks so much behind. their latest release is a 66 minute song divided between mood shifts. and they play those 66 mins LIVE. their tone on the albums "Alaska" and "Colors" were recorded with a mesa boogie dual rectifier. and they dont really dime the gain too. just right for chug rhythm and smooth leads.

these are bands/guitarists i want to sound like RHYTHM wise. how bout you guys. share rin ng bands because im sure everyone here likes discovering new bands everyday. :D

Mesa Boogie: Saosin

I really liked the sound of the guitars in this band so I researched about the amps they used. Before, they used Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifiers. Ngayon naka Hughes and Kettner Triamp MKII Tube amps na sila.

Marshall + Big Muff = Smashing Pumpkin's Siamese Dream, best ever.
Marshall (JMP-1 - correct me if I'm wrong) = Deftones, one of my favorite heavy rhythm tones.

Marshall: AC/DC, Van Halen !!!

sakto! hahaha! kung Marshall riff tone sa AC/DC ako... Specifically ung You shook me all night long... isa to sa mga dahilan kung bakit nagustuhan ko ang marshall tone

kung mesa boogie naman, ung streams of consciousness ng Dream Theater... IMO.
