As much as we want to join this event, we decided not to for two reasons:
1. Most of the leads that we get from events such as this does not really translate to sales. Most of what we got from other shows like BA, PLASA, etc. ended up to be just plain interest in the product. I believe that shows like this is something that should help manufacturers, but in the end, its only the organizers who truly benefit from these type of shows. It's also the same reason we had for not joining broadcast asia this year.
2. Manpower is another reason why we are not joining. Digidesign staff for Southeast Asia is scattered all over the region. Joining an event like this, which is truly of a smaller scale even for Broadcast India, would require everyone in our staff to travel to the Philippines. Leads Plus Overhead Expense is not even equal to break even. I believe that Challenge already knows that what I have stated here is true.
As for promoting the VENUE, we are planning to do a demo soon for the Philippines. What we really plan to do is maybe tie up with a local concert promoter and use the VENUE for a local event.
