Good day! I'm new to all these home recording stuff. I just wanna ask something about direct recording.
Any way I can make my guitar sound, uh, not bad? I know it's still better to record an amp through a mic but for now hindi pa po kaya.
I have here an m-audio m-track as my interface. Ano pong recommend nyo na gamitin kong cab simulator or would you mind sharing eq settings. :s Also do I need a DI box or I'm just completely stupid in what I'm doing
So ayun, hope someone will respond.
If you're recording your pedalboard's signal straight to the DAW with no sign of an amp and cab sim (say from a Sansamp or a Zoom G3), then it will definitely sound really bad (especially when distortion comes into play).
Amplitube for Fender amps, I prefer Guitar Rig for Marshall amps. Both have cab sims with mic and room parameters.
You don't really need a DI box. A DI box will help, if you were plugging into a top notch interface with a nice preamp. But in this case, there won't be much difference. Just plug your guitar into the guitar input, flip the switch to "guitar" and fire away
As for EQ, it really depends on the kind of sound you want with your guitar and how you want to make it sit in the mix. But generally, if you find it muddy, slap a parametric EQ (yung may graph) on, select a narrow Q (how many frequencies are affected when you boost or cut), then boost it to hell. play with the frequency and the Q until you find one that makes it sound really muddy, then cut that frequency. Not completely, maybe 1-2 dB if it's real bad.
Or idaan mo sa Sonic Maximizer na plugin.
