Title: Wampler Pedals

They've been circulating our shores on a regular basis since 2011 thanks to Nelldenmusic. I kinda noticed that there isn't a dedicated thread. :eek:
I don't own one (yet) but I have extensively tested a Paisley Drive. (Thanks Nickson) Loved the low gain grainy overdrive. Wonderfully shapes your tone by making it a bit dirty but still transparent.

nice! finally a thread dedicated to wampler! :) i really liked my WAMPLER PINNACLE (PINAKOL) pedal! Currently my favorite distortion pedal!! also its RED!! :cool: since i like mamids sounding and that snarly(ewan ko kung tama ba term ko o well papel) sound! kaya ko kinuha and i can roll the volume knob down without sacrificing tone loss..:p basta yun yun

Owner of a Triple Wreck for 2 years now and I'm totally happy with it! (I don't use the boost function though). I was also an Ecstasy owner before I sold it to cayle 2 weeks ago (I was downsizing and the TW stays with me.. The Ecstasy is an awesome pedal though) :-D

I'm more of an overdrive guy. Which among the wampler overdrive sounds fat pero not necessarily bassy? Yung open and transparent yung tunog (neither warm nor bright). :)

Hey lover and addict! :wave: Di mo na ginagamit yung Triple Wreck mo sa Vypyr no?
Sa Vypyr hindi! It hates pedals! Ginagamit ko si TW for either solid state or tube amp! Modeller - big no! It won't bring out the Triple Wreck's full potential. Despite my Vypyr-convenience love, the Wampler Triple Wreck is a wicked beast! Iba talaga "feel" niya. My opinion! Actually, I'm checking out the Randall half-stacks at Lazer Music recently. Good prices and I'm thinking of using the Triple Wreck through it.
Those who want to try Wamplers, make sure to use them with a good non-modeling amp. Kahit nga Marshall MG100 - which I've done several times - panalo ung Triple Wreck.
The Super Plex has that addicting factor pala. I don't know why pero if someone were to put a gun on my head and ask me to choose which pedal I can survive more for a lifetime, I will probably choose the Super Plex. It can do anything in my opinion. The Triple Wreck is just more aggressive in a good way but the Super Plex is a pedal that can take you to different places with great satisfaction. It just feels right!
Hoping a new high gain "metal" pedal gets released from the brand again!

Owned a tw, plextortion, ecstacy and leviathan , tried superplex, plexidrive, pinnacle, slo. All were nice but i kept ecstacy for tele and for wall of doom fuzz yun leviathan. Nasty but not your typical fuzz

I liked the Pinnacle, Plextortion, Paisley Drive and Triple Wreck. The Euphoria isn't my favorite tone, but I'm sure the jazz guys will love it. It's practically a Zendrive with more mods.
The SLOstortion was underwhelming.
The Ego Compressor is one of the better compressors in the market.
I haven't tried the Nirvana Chorus, Faux Delay and Faux Reverb and the new TQ Dual Fusion OD.

I swear by my Plextortion. It's truly a hot rodded Marshall JCM in a box. Went through tons of Marshall JCM voiced pedals but this one truly ended it for me. What really amazes me about this pedal is how each knob is really responsive. The modern/vintage switch is also great since it enables me to have access to a more "hairy" tone at the flick of a switch. This one is definitely a keeper and I really hope that I can get the opportunity to try out the other pedals offered by Brian Wampler. As of now, I'm currently aiming for the chorus pedal. Cheers!

being a noob guitar player, medyo nalilito ako sa dami ng drives ng wampler but my fave drive pedal is the Pinnacle. Sa non-drives naman yung Nirvana Chorus.
sa mga interested sa Dual Fusion, we have a few unit coming in about four weeks. wampler tone party ulit :-D if you wan't to read more on the switching/stacking options ng DF, check this link (medyo nosebleed pa ko ngayon, di ko pa din masyado gets)

Wampler (Brian/indyguitarist) is one of the few builders that I admire & respect. No b.s., no snake oil marketing, no pretentiousness, just truly good sounding circuits.

Euphoria: Warm and transparent saturation. Most affordable "Dumble" style pedal
Pinakol: Best open sounding distortion. Mas "Mama" pa tunog nito kesa sa Slostortion.

I LOVED the Tweed 57 pedal. Tinest ko yun kina Mike using his #4 telecaster, classic 30 and yamaha jx30. Swabe talaga. I have the Ecstasy right now. Robben Ford in a box. Mas prefer ko thru single coils yung Ecstasy.

My favorite wampler pedals are the Tweed '57, Black '65, and the Faux Tape Echo. Very natural ng feel nung mga amp simulators na yun. The Tape Echo blends with the fundamental notes nicely.
The Pinnnacle, which I had twice, is very frustrating to dial as every knob is interactive. Mahirap siya pag paiba-iba ng amp or pag nagalaw sa loob ng softcase yung knobs. Konting galaw lang nila iba na ulit sound.

the sovereign is an awesome pedal! both pinakol and sovereign ang gustu ko sa wampler! stand alone pedals yung dalawang yun..really liked it,,yung sovereign natry ko kay markcasq,,you can easily dial the knobs to ur liking... :) pang solo talaga yung pedal nayun,,also good sa volume knob roll off for clean gritty sound :) sayang lang kasi exclusive to guitar center sa states lang yun eh :( i really want one pa naman :eek:

yun nga rin pagkaintindi ko eh. sana ginawa na lang nilang distortion yung 1 tapos overdrive yung 1 para mas versatile. so kailangan pa pala i-engage yung 2 channels para maging high gain yung sound. parang di ko na ata gusto? sana gawa rin sila ng new version ng pinnacle deluxe na ang boost channel meron separate knobs for the volume & gain.

kaya ba ng triple wreck ung ganto kabigat na tunog? di ko kasi marinig sa mga demo ung sound na gusto ko eh. lage kasi mga super fast solos, power chords or nakakasawang mga blues licks ginagawa sa demo. hehe

SLO, liked it but couldn't dial it in for what i wanted. traded for a plextortion v1. crunchy pero parang sobrang dry traded for a TW. nagenjoy nako sa kanya. problem ko lang eh masyado malaki casing nya. maliit naman ung bago di ba... kaso ayoko bumili bnew hehe :oops:

yun nga rin pagkaintindi ko eh. sana ginawa na lang nilang distortion yung 1 tapos overdrive yung 1 para mas versatile. so kailangan pa pala i-engage yung 2 channels para maging high gain yung sound. parang di ko na ata gusto? sana gawa rin sila ng new version ng pinnacle deluxe na ang boost channel meron separate knobs for the volume & gain.
Pulidong distortion lang talaga yung hinahanap ni Tom Quayle, eh. Tsaka amp-like response. Mas bagay sa lead playing at medium-gain na rhythm siguro yung Dual Fusion imbis na full-on Mesa-style high gain. Buti na lang may Triple Wreck para diyan hehe. :)

I had the SLOstortion. It sounded good thru my Fender. But after sometime, I grew tired with the sound. Too modern sounding and loose. Not something I'd listen to for a long time.
I had the Plextortion, too. For the longest time, this was the only boutique Marshall-sounding peadal I was aiming for. I bought a Fulltone OCD v4 before but asked myself why I bought that when this pedal wa the one I'm really aiming for. Then I finally owned it.
Tested this pedal at micsis's shop before buying it. Man it sounded good thru his Classic30. Really really good sounding pedal. So I took it home, only to find out that it doesn't bond with my Fender too well. Sucks to be me. It does sound killer thru Cayle's Blackstar, though... Unfortunately, it's not my amp. Sorry Jef but I had to let this one go soon. Sayang.. :-( I had high hopes that it would sound good thru the Fender coz I thought Mr.Wampler designs his pedals with a Fender Twin as his platform. Might shoot for a Triple Wreck within the year... I think it's the only high gain dirt pedal that sounds good with my Fender..

Negative talaga bro.. May fizz na hindi ko matanggal.. halos all the way down na treble ko tapos yung mids ko sagad, pero andun pa rin eh.. Samantalang sa Blackstar ni cayle, kahit 12 o'clock lahat ng knobs, maganda tunog.. :-(
Honestly, medyo sinipa lang siya nung BB Preamp ko..

try mo pinnacle, bro! very versatile ang tone & contour knobs! sulit pagkabili namin ni ael kay jeff nito. gassing for the hot wired naman ngayon for my board that might replace my fulltone fd2 & the providence heat blaster para may additional space pa sa board ko. though i have to try it muna kung may stock si jeff sa susunod na tone party kina mark. la kasi ako tiwala sa demos sa net eh.

When you play a Blackstar HT-20's drive (guitarist 1) along with a Fender being driven by a Plextortion (guitarist 2), you'll know what I'm talking about.. On the other hand, there are other vintage-sounding pedals which work better with the Fender given the same scenario. Like I said, mukhang hindi lang talaga sila nagkasundo ng Fender ko dito.. :-(

afaik, exclusive talaga sa GC/MF yung sovereign, bale paraan nila yun para malaman ng mas nakakadami yung brand ng wampler. Pag ginawa kasing available yung buong pedal line sa GC/MF kawawa yung maliliit na retailers na since day 1 e sumuporta na sa wampler.

I'm having "seller's remorse" with regards to the Plextortion.. :-( :-(
The other night, I tried to install my DIY beam blocker on my 2x12 cab..then I tried the Plextortion one last time. Pak na pak! Ganda tumunog. Seems like the shrill fizziness I encountered was due to the speakers of my cab. Hindi siya ganun kaganda para sa mga "gainy" na pedal.. However, nung nilagyan ko ng beam blocker, parang nafilter or mas nadisperse ng maganda yung highs..
Sayang kasi sold na yung pedal.. shipped it kanina..
But I do think pwede ko siya balikan sometime..

DIY lang ito bro. No need to gastos so much for the Weber stuff. Does the same thing din naman. I'll message you on FB. Pero nakatulong ito para maging balanced yung tunog. Whether nasa harap mo yung amp or nasa side ka, halos pareho lang tunog. Unlike sa normal amp na pag nasa harap mo ay mas peaky tpaos pag nasa gilid ay mas warm.

happy for you man! :-) in my case, amp picky sya.. muddy most of the time. may sweet spot, pero yun na yun. sobra bass. hindi ko din nagustuhan ang mid range nya, pag lumagpas ka ng 9 o'clock sabog na. hindi din ganun kaganda ang cleanup nya sa vol.knob. siguro hindi lang sya para sakin.. pinnacle naman gusto ko masubukan. :-)

yup bro, ni-retract ko din sya once sa classifieds, kasi nagustuhan ko din difference nya sa shredhead. pero talagang napagod ako sa sobrang kapal nya. i gig 5x a week, 5 different venues with different amps( may 1 na direct sa mixer :eek:) sa vox ac30 sya swabe. for the boost, ok din sana kaso may boost 'n buff ako. pero kung may pera ako, hindi talaga ako magbebenta. heheh!

About the shredhead, maybe its a wampler thing. I also find my sovereign has more dynamics than the shredhead.

yup bro. may amp na napapayatan ako sa shredhead, napansin ko din na mejo natatabunan sya. pero ok na pag may OD ka pang boost (mid hump). ang SLO naman sobrang kapal.. hindi ko lang din nagustuhan ang response nya sa guitar's vol.knob. isa sa target ko yang sovereign. :-) ganda ng mga demos.

Same here.
We cascaded the ecstasy into the sovereign. I think our heads spun!
That's also why I've held back on the dual fusion. I know its not enough to base your opinion on clips, but throughout everyone I hear a consistent nice clean and fat tone, which is a good thing too.
I personally like the extra hair and midrange punch of the sovereign.
Some folks like it bare, i like it with just a little hair :-)

Agreed. And for that reason, I think the Dual Fusion works best with single coils, exactly the way Tom Quayle himself does it. It is, after all, tailored to his specifications. :)

I'm still gushing over the Ecstacy / Euphoria.
My goodness, it's amazing how Wampcat can design a pedla that sounds good at extremely low volumes, and rips in high volumes.
due to my horrid shift i end up playing at home late nights. have to shut the windows (its the condo curse!) and play at low volume. the ecstasy still sounded pleasing!
i crank it in the morning and smile like an idiot :) it's got such a nice tactile compression and transparency. most pedals have an imbalance of this. It's either they are over compressed and result in a small sounding tone, or too transparent (some folks like this, not a bad thing IMHO) and have a bit to be desired in character and color.
I wish i bought one when it first came out!
Now, Sovereign... Come to daddy...

First time Wampler owner here and I'm really very excited to bring it home to play. I had my mind set on a Bogner Ecstacy Red or a Suhr Riot only. Being familiar with the Riot already, I decided to try out the Ecstasy Red first before acquiring any. While trying out the Red, I remembered the comments on the Sovereign vs. Riot thread and decided to A/B the Red with a Sovereign after about an hour. The Red made me smile the entire time I was checking it out but it only took less than 10 minutes for the Sovereign to make me say "this is it". Good thing I read that thread and am now a Sovereign owner as a result. :)

Was not able to try stacking them together. Just did a side by side comparison of each. While both pedals do sound good, I found that the Red could only match the Sovereign's saturation level (which I really like) when the boost channel was also turned on. With both channels on, the Red did not react to dynamics as well as the Sovereign. Having said that and based on your findings, I could just imagine how well both would go stack together and wish I had both just like you. :)

Yup and with other high gain pedals that i tried. In the first place wag mo sagarin gain. Sama rin ng tunog pagtodo gain. 2 to 3 o clock could be enough.:)

Sa Triple Wreck, hindi kailangan isagad ang gain knob para makakuha ng galit na galit na distortion. Before 3 o'clock pa lang umuusok na sa galit yan. :)

Normal lang naman yun kapag nagtataas ka ng gain, tumataas din yung noise. :)

Could work. Check with a tech first as it may need biasing if originally it didn't have a rectifier. Don't know much about Goldea amps but EL84 based tube amps go well with the Wampler Triple Wreck and SuperPlex.
For what it's worth, the Triple Wreck worked really well with the Marshall MG100 on two different occasions I tried mine.

very happy sa bagong pinnacle deluxe namin. expensive pero sulit.:) very creamy & very articulate. klaro tunog kahit nka chords ka sa gitara. ung ibang dirt pedal na nasubukan ko, natatabunan ng growl pag nka chord ka, itong pinaccle... ewan ko ba.:) :idea: dinig bawat string khit mataas gain setting.

i think what you'd want is a fuzz ... i tried a leviathan, and yes, it can nail the stoner, bass-sagged, almost no presence fuzz of both black sabbath and pumpkins.
i dont think a triple wreck was made for those, since it has a lot of presence on tap

Medyo disagree ako dito sir. Sobrang versatile din siya, well for me :)
+1 i owned one and it is not really high gain, but still chunky and crunchy in low settings. The only down sides of it is, you can't crank the gain too much because the strong noise will come past 2. Nagsawa lang ako kaya ko dinispose.
@juwanfidel, i saw you last week at last home resto, sayang hindi mo dinala yung triple wrecking pedal mo lol.

Could be a tube issue if it is a tube amp. Try it on a Bandit. Works well with it.
But kuha na. Brand new syempre para sure. Based from experience very consistent Triple Wreck basta wag lang masagwa talaga amp or digital/modeling.
peavey bandit ba yung sinasabi mo sir? kamusta pag hi gain settings ng tw at ng bandit? convincing ba siya for metal tone? nagustuhan ko kase yung tunog ng distortion ng bandit kapag walang pedal. eh nagustuhan ko din yung tw kaya iniisip ko kung okay silang dalawa. naghahanap kase ako ng ss amp na maganda na pwede akong mag experiment ng kung ano anong pedal bago pumasok sa pag gamit ng tube amps. thanks!

I've had my fair share of Wampler pedals in the past; Ecstacy, Plextortion, SLOstortion, Triple Wreck...and they have all been delightful pedals in their own fields.
Just a few days ago, I managed to snag a Wampler Pinnacle. I'm not too crazy about the whole "brown sound" thing and I may well be the least EVH fan out there (sorry). However, of the numerous British-style pedals I've tried, I must admit, the brown sound territory is one where I'm most hesitant to try out.... because EVH. Hehehe.
Anyway, so I recorded a short clip. I used the Pinnacle thru a Vox AC15HW w/ an alnico blue speaker. Not the best combination out there but I'm really liking what I'm hearing. :wave:

I have never been a Klon fan. Despite having tried playing a Gold and Silver Klon (not mine of course), its clones and various incarnations, it just wasn't the tone I wanted in a boost or overdrive pedal. Maybe I'm tone deaf... :-D
My perception of the Klon was changed when a friend asked me to view a Klon and its clones comparison video on YouTube. I was very impressed with the Tumnus that I went to watch more vids about it. After seeing almost all demo vids, I decided to acquire one from Guitar Center without trying it out.
The pedal arrived last Sunday and I was only able to try it out last night. My findings? I was not impressed. It didn't sound as good as I was expecting it to be based on .the videos that I've seen. It did not give me the spatial, 3D and vibrant effect as a clean boost and the drive (for me) was nothing special. It also looked ugly to me as if Brian Wampler was not taking the Tumnus seriously when he was trying to recreate the Klon.
In all fairness to Wampler, the Tumnus is probably the only Klon clone that was able to recreate the low-mids of the original. It made my guitars thicker sounding. It did, however, slightly lack the high-mids of the Klon which a lot of itsclones have.
Having said all that, I am not yet completely giving up on the pedal. Maybe I have yet to find the sweet spots for the pedal, guitar and amp combination to bring out the sounds I was expecting to hear. It will be great when I do but would it be worth it to keep those settings for just this one pedal? Let's see and with all candor, I hope so. I did not buy a good pair of rubber shoes just to get this pedal. :-P

That's great! That would only mean that the ped really has potential and has the tonal characteristics I heard in vids that I have not tapped into yet. Yeah, I do think the low-mids will compliment a Strat. Will try it with my Strat this weekend.
