Come to think of it... the Eraserheads weren't really known for their live act more than being known for the songs. So, kinda not exciting for me yung concert. The only exciting thing is that the mere fact that they're playing together. Pero, sabi nga ni skunk,

Tsaka hindi pa sila nagpra-practice. Iba ang magagawa nun.
And maybe i'm just a romantic, pero tingin ko, kakaiba talaga yung energy na makukuha nila sa tao sa gabi ng Aug.30. Pag-salang nila, at makita nila yung pagmamahal ng tao sa kanila, magiging maganda yung tugtog. Music transcends petty stuff. Kung hindi man sila mag-yakapan after, sigurado ako, it will be one hell of a show.   


ALSO, many people don't know this, but they almost played in last year's NU Rock Awards. (Markus Highway, Pupil, Sandwich and The Dawn all played that night).
Kung natuloy yun, would they still be an eraserheads "cover band"?

unahan ko lang ang mga die hard fans ha... di naman sa negative vibes to... pero i really gotta agree with skunk on this one.

we're not really wishing that they still have their youthful vibe and that they should wear chucks to the reunion gig.

i personally would love to watch a reunion where it's all about the music.

kahit ano pang sabihin ng iba... this particular gig would never happen kung wala ang milyones ng Marlboro.

im still waiting for that one gig where everything is genuine.  it's not just about the songs for me... it's how those songs were made and played by 4 good friends...

...but who knows... hopefully the turnout nung crowd and the love they give to the band will strike a chord in each of the 4 guys hearts.  emo-mode! oyeah!

    I think that the fees that will be paid to the Eraserheads for the reunion concert is very justifiable from the point of view of Marlboro as athe major sponsor. It was a very smart move on their part to do this major coup de grace....and I salute the guys behind this  event. I will guess  some readons/rationale for Marlboro to mount this major concert and spend a fortune :

a) We already know that the law prohibiting cigarettes from advertisimg their products in radio TV and newspapers is already effective. Hence, they have excess budget in their corpororate funds that is dedicated to advertisements. So how will they spend it ?

b) Remember the law prohibits advertisements iin TV, radio and newspapares? However it doesnt prohibit Text messages and internet?

c) So, I guess, Marlboro will capitalize on Eraserheads to do the advertisement for them, in the following way :

      1) No ticket selling : Marlboro wants you to register online (provided you are not a minor) so that they will be able to have access to your email address or cellphone..viola they have access to a new advertsing outlet....

          2) Open field venue..... they can establish booths selling/giving away marlboro products....so just imagine the advertising mileage again

          3) Sub sponsorship :  Since malaki na itong event na ito at pinaguusapan na... Marlboro can easily ask other corporate sponsors to pay if they want to be a major or minor sponsors... of course Marlboro gets all of this sub advertisemenst......

        So does it make sense fro Marlboro to spend a "fortune (cigarettes hahahahaha)  for this concert?

^tama! mahal na ang gasolina't bigas ngayon. uso na nga magbenta ng kidney eh, para lang magkapera. and besides, tugtugan lang naman ah. halos araw-araw nilang ginagawa to. wala namang sorihan at iyakang magaganap. for 2.5M? di na tinatanong pa kung kwarta o kahon (with tito pepe).

In fairness, I've seen people who've turned down huge sums because of self-respect for their music.

Blur refused to have "Song 2" used by the US Air Force (or Navy) to be the theme song to unveil their newest fighter jet, despite being offered huge sums of money.

Greg Rollie said that he would not go back to Journey (with the new 'corporate rock' style) even if offered a million dollars.  They used to play fusion, and he couldn't take the "sell-out" type Journey.

Frank Zappa told Rolling Stone "Why do you want my face on the cover to sell your magazine?"

I am not a hypocrite to say I won't accept those huge amounts to 'reunite' with my former bandmates, it's just that I think it'll be a big stretch for me to rehearse, interact, and perform with my bandmates when there is tension going around.  And the audience can perceive that...
