meron nga pala ako nabasa (hindi ko lang ma-alala yung link) na MGC don't use distortion. he said daw na he only use OD's.
Sa church, we play a wide variety of songs from those really old ones, to hillsong, tomlin, brewster, moen, kenoly, vineyard etc. But lately we've been doing a lot of compositions.
On my opinion and experience, you won't really need a distortion pedal. OD is the most "appropriate" since what most of us would want are clear tones - not fuzzy ones.
I've been through different setups as well - from a chain of stomps, to one multifx, to stomps + multi etc. Now, my setup is "lineup" dependent. I arrange everything depending on the need. My most common and simpler setup goes like this:
Guitar --> OD --> Multifx (amp sim, wah, modulations, tuner) --> Delay --> Amp
My Od is a Badmonkey. I love it paired with my Strat cause it gives that somewhat compressed tube tone. The Multifx is a KorgAX5G. It's set to Amp/Cab Sim most of the time.
Just get an overdrive pedal and you're done. Add reverb/delay nalang siguro para hindi dry yung tunog mo.
