i am christian since birth!
ask ko lang bro if you're referring to being baptized when you were a baby by RC ceremony? We become Christians kc the moment we accept JC as our Lord & Saviour. Not through works or any sacrament or religious ceremony. Free will dapat yun.

mga sirs pano niyo nagagawang mabigat yung mga chords niyo without using the x5th chords??
baka 5th note ang ibig mong sabihin bro. walang mabigat dun. yung 1st, 3rd at 5th notes that makes up a Major chord. kung "C" yung chord mo' do, mi @ sol (5th note) ang mga notes, very basic yan.  ngayon kung dadagdagan mo ng b7; b9; b11 at b13, dun naiiba yung tunog. Kaya siguro tinatawag nilang "heavy".

forbidden kasi yun db???
wala namang sinabing forbiden note or chord yung professor ko sa Abelardo Hall. meron forbidden fruit;   (Apple Ipod?) o kaya yung "forbidden games" w/c is the "pop" title ng "Romance" ang unang recital piece ng mga students ng classical guitar sa peyups.

devil's note daw yun eh...
yung  devil's note or scales mga folk tale nalang yun. Gaya ng mga storya kay Paganini... hinuhukay daw ang mga cadavers sa sementeryo para gawing strings sa violin niya yung intestines ng patay... sick isn't it?  ang diminished scale kc associated sa horror/eerie ang tunog niya lalo na't arpeggio... yung harmonic minor naman, parang eastern or Arabic yung tunog & that doesn't mean it's demonic.

Devil's note??? Baka nagre-refer ka sa diabolus in musica (the devil in music) which is the 1st and the diminished 5th na interval (kung tama pagkaka-alala ko). Di naman bro. It appears a lot in praise and worship songs na maraming mga weird-sounding na passing chords (parang Holy Spirit Rain Down ng Hillsong) at yung mga may chromatic parts na songs. They just termed it that kasi it makes a darker-sound (kaso sa tugutgan ngayon, jazzier na ang tawag sa kanya). Which to me is not a bad thing. I throw in diminished chords sa keyboard every now and then. Sa guitar nga lang, aralin ko muna. :-D

As for kung pano papa-bigatin ang chord, you can remove the 3rd. Makes it a power chord. Also, itaas mo yung bass sa amp mo. Pwede rin mag-play ng 5th or root na one octave lower to make a heavier-sounding chord. Or, get a 7 or 8-string. Or better yet, just let your bassist handle the thundering low/low-mids :-D.

Hope this helps.

_______________________________________________________________

The first set was kinda "hilaw" ( fm a music critic's point of view ), the sound system was disappointing, the house speakers was muffled, if you’re not familiar w/ the lyrics of the song, then you won't understand what they're singing...

I guess that the first two songs was an adjustment period for the sound engineer... it was only on the 3rd song "King of Majesty" that you can hear the drums & the bass guitar clearly, there was a guitar solo... he was playing a Strat,( thus the "thin/glassy" single coil tone)... as for the other guitar player, I couldn't really hear him. ( baka hindi naka house yung Amp niya )

the lead vocalist was really energetic, but sometimes was grasping for breath & was kinda off key... so was w/ the back up singers... I guess this team was not the "main" Sonicflood band, parang understudy lang sila or something like that... again, I might be wrong, but what's important is that they are doing this for the glory of God & that's what really matters...

there was this Fil/Am dude who testified during the break... mga 20m din yun... the crowd was getting bored bcoz  the audio really sucks at that point... you really need to listen closely to understand what he's saying... 90% of the crowd are youth, I guess all they really came for is to hear "open the eyes"...

Ganun kalayo!

the crowd went wild w/ "I want to know you"... galing ng bahista, parang si Billy Sheehan sa showmanship. I lost count of how many songs they did… what was really striking for me was Rick Heil’s testimony. It was so touching how he found the Lord…

He was diagnosed w/ colon cancer when he was still young, he had a series of operations & the doctors took out something like 8 feet of his intestines t& he had to be fed on tube w/c was really painful that he was thinking of committing suicide…

His life changed when he hanged out w/ some “Jesus Freaks”, went to church w/ them, and made a prayer of acceptance that changed the direction of his life. He sang “Above All” & it was so emotional that crowd was in tears praying and lifting their arms… Rick made an altar call, he and the bass player went down the stage to pray for the people who responded to the altar call… the keyboardist segued “heart of worship” w/ “above all”… when Rick got back on the stage he read some phrases fm the book of Psalms it was so awesome how they improvise fm whatever leading they have… ( I think they don’t follow any line up coz Rick just tells the keyboardist what’s the next tune is…)

The guitar player did some solos, nothing amazing… ( no sweep arpeggios, no harmonic minors, tappings, dive bombs or any flashy tricks ), & that’s really great coz I’m sick & tired of Yngwie/Pettrucci & Vai wanna be's[/i]…he played his heart out, got a great tone fm. his Black Beauty Les Paul. ( iba talaga tunog nung Humbuckers pag live)! Galing din sa Showmanship yung keyboardist… Performance level talaga!

They did 3 or more rock tunes before doin’ “ open the eyes “ w/c again made the crowd jump up & down. YUMANIG ang Araneta coliseum. Just when the crowd thought that it was the last song, Sonicflood did 2 more numbers. Grave energy nila!  Finished the set w/ an acapella  of  “I Love You Lord”…

thanks for the honest review jimy! we were the front act band, HISound, i was the guitarist with the strat, hehe. ganon ata talaga pag front act eh, medyo lower levels yung mix than the main band. nung setup kasi we only had a few minutes of soundcheck, ni hindi na kami nakabuo ng song during soundcheck, hehehe. i was actually disappointed with the equipment setup for us. pero, what the heck diba? hehe. they made 2 setups, one for sonicflood, another for us, amps, drumset, keys. yung amp nung isang gitarista (the one with the black guitar) was a fender twin. mine was a lowly marshall valvestate na kulang kulang knobs, hahaha! the bass amp wasn't working during soundcheck, hehe. ayos diba? pero yun nga, worship na lang, hehehe.

so yun, we had no idea how we sounded though, hehe. pero it's not to our glory naman, hehe.

anyway, comments ko lang sa sonicflood. generally they sounded good, as a band, they were tight. so good yun. medyo di ko lang type yung tunog nung gitarista, hehehe. yeah for one yung dirty tone nya was harmonically rich, hehe. pero i found it too loud and matalas. parang feeling ko kulang sa macho, hehe. but the guitarist was good, hehe.

yun lang naman, di na ako magco-comment sa set nila kasi di ko naman alam most of their songs, hehe. only the familiar ones, hehe. pero generally sobrang ok yung concert. ganda ng testimony nung lead vox, sobrang nabigyan ng buhay for me yung song na "i could sing of your love" if God did the same to you, you'd really sing of His love forever, hehe. galing talaga! praise God for that concert.

thanks for the honest review jimy! we were the front act band, HISound,

i was the guitarist with the strat, hehe. ganon ata talaga pag front act eh, medyo lower levels yung mix than the main band.
You mean to say wala kayong sariling sound engineer or tech to handle the boards?

nung setup kasi we only had a few minutes of soundcheck, ni hindi na kami nakabuo ng song during soundcheck, hehehe. i was actually disappointed with the equipment setup for us.

Napaka unprofessional pala nitong Ovation productions kung ganon! may discrimination sila w/ local artist/front act.

pero, what the heck diba? hehe. they made 2 setups, one for sonicflood, another for us, amps, drumset, keys. yung amp nung isang gitarista (the one with the black guitar) was a fender twin. mine was a lowly marshall valvestate na kulang kulang knobs, hahaha!
Sayang bro, kung alam ko lang yun, makakahiram tayo ng half stalk na Marshalls, Laney or even Mesa Boggie Triple Rectifier Tube Amps. Sana ikaw nalang gumamit ng twin tapos naka house, mas maririnig kapa! (si Egay ba MD nyo sa CCF)?

the bass amp wasn't working during soundcheck, hehe. ayos diba?

In fairness, lumutang yung tunog ng bass sa third song. Hartkee ba gamit nya? sa Sonicflood, Ampeg yata na top of the line...

pero yun nga, worship na lang, hehehe.
that's the most important thing bro! to God be all the glory, honor & praise!
not to us, to Him alone. Privilege talaga yung maka tugtog kayo dun... sans the technical flaws, you guys played to worship God & give glory to the King of Kings! ( hindi para sa audience who came to hear "open the eyes" ). I'm sure all of us here at this thread are proud na kapatiran namin ang nag front act! kung patas lang sana mga gamit, malupit din rhythm section niyo. but then, again...
"the eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him"...(2nd Chronicles 16:9)
Job well done bro! Kudos to HiSound!!!

so yun, we had no idea how we sounded though, hehe. pero it's not to our glory naman, hehe.

anyway, comments ko lang sa sonicflood. generally they sounded good, as a band, they were tight. so good yun. medyo di ko lang type yung tunog nung gitarista, hehehe. yeah for one yung dirty tone nya was harmonically rich, hehe. pero i found it too loud and matalas. parang feeling ko kulang sa macho, hehe.
hindi ko nakita kung combo amp lang gamit niya kc nasa extreme right kami nka pwesto eh... sa tutoo lang mas maganda tunog ng amp ni Rick, (lead vox), I believe it's a Laney. ganda rin ng clean sound ng SG niya. Sarap sana mag solo sa ganung set up!

but the guitarist was good, hehe.

yun lang naman, di na ako magco-comment sa set nila kasi di ko naman alam most of their songs, hehe. only the familiar ones, hehe. pero generally sobrang ok yung concert.
the last time I experienced this was Reuben Morgan's worship/concert.

ganda ng testimony nung lead vox, sobrang nabigyan ng buhay for me yung song na "i could sing of your love" if God did the same to you, you'd really sing of His love forever, hehe. galing talaga! praise God for that concert.

yup we didn't have our own sound engineer, hehe. wala, startup band pa lang kami, hehe. yung isa kong band, building bridges, we have our own tech and equipment, hehe.

whoa, hehe. di naman sa ovation productions yung problem, hehe. i think it was with the sound provider, yung ovation yung nag-organize lang nung event, hehe. the reason why we only had a few minutes of soundcheck, kasi yung sonicflood tagal nag-soundcheck eh, hahaha! and we also spent time praying muna before the concert, hehe. so ok lang din, hehe. disappointed lang ako dun sa amp ko, haha! pero oks lang.

sound provider ka ba bro? yup si sir egay yung MD ng CCF before, ngayon hindi sha mashadong active eh, busy ata sa wanders circus, hehe. yung "clone" nya ngayon yung medyo nage-MD, hehe. (yup sir egay successfully "cloned" himself, hehe. nakahanap sha ng child prodigy at tinransfer nya ang kanyang powers, hehe)

yung bassist namin gamit nya trace elliot speaker amp, hahaha! yung bassist ng sonicflood yung naka-hartke lang. walang ampeg nun sa setup.

thanks for the encouragement bro ah! we'll try to do better next time, with better equipment, hehehe.

yung amps nung guitarist nung sonicflood were two vox AC30's. nakatapat away from the stage and mic'd. siguro hindi nya na-compensate yung brightness nung amp. yup for some reason mas trip ko yung timpla nung laney, hehe. crunchy yung clean tone nya, hehe. sayang medyo lubog lang sha sa mix. sayang nga eh, meeron marshall na head na nakakalat sa tabi nung laney, hehe. sana yun na lang ginamit nya, hehe.

anyway, thanks again for your comments. meron ba sa october? balitaan nyo ako, baka pwede sumali yung building bridges band, hehe. thanks bro!

oh yeah. it's been all over the internet these past few days. it's kinda sad especially with the fact that he was a pastor.

i think the ones who are most affected by this is yung mga talagang may terminal illness and was inspired by Michael Guglielmucci's "struggle". and now that they all know that he's a fraud, they could easily lose hope again.

sa totoo lang i sang this once na sa praise and worship and i also gave Michael's testimony. it's very disappointing lang na ganun pala yung totoo.

pero. i just hope that God's power would transcend over this situation. ika nga, it is not about the songs, it's about the one we are singing to. and sana instead of condemning or labeling Michael as a fraud, we should pray for him like what real christians would do.

Yeah, I was really shocked when I heard about this news. I was also sick for qoute some time and lost all hope until God answered my prayers. Madami pang revelations about his alleged porn addiction "daw" and Planetshakers has taken his name out sa mga albums na sya mismo ang nag-produce and nag-sulat.

But still, I agree with you this song is about the goodness and faithfulness of God that He is our refuge and strength.

yup. oh well.

we have to admit that the songs we sing to God are written by mere sinners. but that shouldn't hinder us from worshipping kasi we are not singing songs for the writer/singer's glory but for the glory of our Lord. as christians, we should not let these kind of things be a reason to be disappointed, kesyo masamang tao yung gumawa ng song or sinner yung gumawa nung song. and if you come to think about it, sinners din naman ang ating mga pastor. by nature, all human beings are sinners and that doesnt exempt the pastors/ministers diba? and the ones who wrote the bible are also transgressors.

Mr Guglielmucci, who was a pastor with one of Australia's biggest youth churches, Planetshakers, inspired hundreds of thousands of young Christians with his terminal cancer "battle", has been exposed as a fraud.

Ironically, just a few weeks back, the band Planetshakers had their album launching here at SM malls...

What's amazing about this is that people's reaction is more of compassion rather than condemnation. Who are we to judge him in the first place? kung sino satin ang walang kasalanan, siya ang unang pumukol ng bato!

what's just sad about the whole scenario is the negative implications fm. critics of our faith...parang naririnig ko na naman ang mga in laws, neighbors, colleagues ko na; " Ganyan ba mga Born Again?, akala mo banal, makasalanan din pala"...

Although we are not pleaser's of men at  sa Panginoon  lang tayo mananagot, we have an obligation not to let our brethren stumble w/ our actions. Lalo na yung may position at pinagka katiwalaan sa ministry...
