same here...the passion is gone (not totally), I still enjoy playingand play regularly but my interest shifted to other things.

I started playing when I was on highschool dumaan na din ako sa madaming banda and now Im 32 and still playing but you know wala din akong na achieve sa pagtug2g ako ay isa sa mga frustrated musician ...imagine hanggang ngeon di pa rin ako makapag sweeping ha ha ha pero I keep on playing I can say na kapag pala na realized mo na hindi ka namn kabilang sa mga naulanan ng talento sa pagtugtog better do something na may talento ka but never stop playing if your enjoying, it to tell you frankly ngeyon pa lang ako nag start mag upgrade ng mga gamit I got 3 kids and working as acall center agent sometimes i stop playing but I didnt quit kasi nasa bloodline na ntin yan e kaya dont stop believing just play di mo masasabi ang swerte merong sumisikat kahit hindi magaling at meron namang magaling na walang nararating.......

+1000 ako din 32 na wala pa nararating but still enjoying playing music and still inpired pa din na mabuo ko mga licks ni satriani matagal na ako nag stop sa banda but the urge never fade dala lang ng kahirapan sa buhay at obligasyon coz i have 4 kids now kaya di ko mapursige ang hilig ko sa musika.. kung nag eenjoy ka sa pagtugtog go but kung hindi na leave it..

For my part, almost sa buong 20 years kong pag-giguitara, di ako nakaranas ng frustration against may instrument. Frustration siguro how music became so commercialized but that's another story. Nakatulong rin yung mga panahon na nasa banda ako, every day jam. It wasn't really about the skills and virtuosity para sa akin. It was all about how we make music and communicate music with our colleagues in music and with the audience. Hindi ko inalintana yung mga kaisipan na kesyo "kailangan kong gumaling na mas magaling pa sa mga ibang guitarist", or "kailangan kong bumuo na ng banda at mabuhay sa banda", or "kailangan ko pang mahigitan si kwan" and what-not.

Music is a never-ending learning, parang buhay yan. Para sa akin, ang dami ko pang hindi alam sa music and this drives me not to be let down.

Mas lalo na ngayon na I am dedicating my skills and talents to His glory. Mas satisfying dahil nakakatulong ka na makakilala ang mga tao sa Diyos. Isang araw, sa pagtanda nating lahat at nasa dapit hapon na tayo ng buhay natin, hindi ba masarap isipin na naging makabuluhan ang buhay natin through music dedicated to our higher power. I am not preaching, I'm just saying that frustration can be overcome as long as you channel your skills in music and make the best use of them habang andito pa tayo sa mundo.

but this time, i have no frustration na as a guitarist/musician,

simula ng magkaron ako ng band, variety band,
work then i enjoy my self more, ok na ok. kahit minsanan lang a isang linggo(1 - 3 days a week)
  eh ok naman hehe, sarap, eto yung fulfillment  ko sa sarili ko,
and i know sa sarili ko na malaki din naitulong ng philmusic sakin, fed up etc, mga info mga idea, so i thanks philmusic so much halos dito ko nalalaman lahat tungkol sa mundo ng musika ahaha,,

sana ok lang na maging active to ulit, para dun sa mga taong pinagdadaanan o pagdadaanan ang ganitong sitwasyon,

ganyan den ako kaso 1 yr pa lang ako naguiguitar den i ask myself nagimprove ka ba then when my OJT is done i decided to quit on playing bass and switch to a guitar i download soo may scales den 12 hours maximum time of practice time management lang magset ka nang aaralin mo lalo na ung mga tricks na fit sayo

i think a long as you keep in touch on your guitar, siguro kahit a minute day,
para lang hindi mu makalimutan yung pag ggtra nyo,

suggest ko put your guitar malapit sa place ng house nyo na nandun ka lagi,

i have my guitar non my room and sala, mas madali mu syang nakikita, mas may tendency na gamitin mo ulit sya

Actually meron!!!!! pero bassist ako, not guitarist. tapos yung bass ko echa pwera lang dito sa bahay. (I only play my bass pag may practice)

pero yung  guitar ko bida! kung nasan ako andun rin sya!

kahit wala akong banda na gitarista ako. XD

I just enjoy playing my guitar. kahit sa bahay lang.

SINO  NANGANGAILANGAN NG GITARISTA JAN?? 19 years old ako lives in QC area, I say okay naman tugtug ko, I can go with any genre, ( I know sa wanted musician dapat itong last part pero... whew wth. )

Frustrations maybe due to some several reasons and ways how to cope with it:

-gigs offering low pay or insufficient income. (commitment, just hoping for a regular gig, it will increase opportunities)
-lack of guitar lessons or thinking yourself that you're stuck on that level. (get a good teacher or watch online guitar lessons)
-passion is gone maybe of a new interest. ( need influence from others, jam with some friends, listen to your favorite bands)
-no determination and perseverance perhaps laziness. (progress is essential, always practice)
-no family support. (make it a hobby)
-prefer this

yeah, some bassists wants to play with picks and also some guitarists who sucks picked up bass.
Well, that's the common problem for the band with no passion for the instrument.

im 19 now last year of teens i start playing guitar and having my band since 3rd year high school
and im freshly graduate from two years course in computer.(nahinto ako 1 sem before mag college). so i almost 4 years in playing guitar.(3rd yr college ako if 4 yrs course kinuha ko).sana hnd magulo kwento ko hehe...
i have a band before but not exist anymore..
and i have a new band nakakatugtog naman maayos yung banda napagkakakitaan din minsan if my demand samen..
 
 
 but i think masyado na malaki yung panahon para sakin i have no achievement in playing guitar.. as a musician..
upgrade ako ng upgrade ng guitars, effets pero naisip ko para saan?wala naman din atang patutunguhan sayang pera lang at panahon!

ako frustration ko? hmm.. siguro yung tipong may gustong gusto kang tone na makuha. pero hindi mo makuha dahil wala kang gears/effects/amp? hirap! frustrate na frustrate akong makabili ng kahit anong effects/multi/gears, etc. yun. dahil sa kahirapan ng buhay. hindi ako makabili ng kahit ano. sa isang pedal nga lang hirap na hirap na kong magipon. sa ngayon isa palang pedal ko. at Boston HM-100(2nd hand) lang. yun siguro frustration ko as a musician/guitarist. pero hindi ko pinipigilan yung sarili ko na mag grow sa pag-ggitara, sabi ko nga sa sarili ko "balang araw makakabili din ako ng mga gears na kelangan ko to improve my playing" hehe.

but sa playing naman. wala naman po sigurong problema, i make sure na hindi dadaan ang isang araw na hindi ako makakahawak/makakapag gitara. and if i have time na makapag research ng mga theories and techniques nagreresearch ako, yun nga siguro, passion ko na nga siguro ang music, hehe. 6yrs. na kong nag gigitara. sa ngayon mag 2nd yr. college na ko sa pasukan. grade 5 ako nag start mag gitara. pero i'm not a shredder, hehe. yun lang. share ko lang mga sir! haba na pala! hehe.

off topic ata, pero naisip nyo na bang umalis sa banda kahit gitarista ka naman, for the reason na ung band never turned out to be what you expected it to be?

in other words may idea ka ng tunog, gusto mo ganito yung drums, gusto mo ganito yung bass, pero hindi kayo nagkakaintindihan ng band mates mo kaya aalis ka nalang.

or umalis ka ng band kasi gusto mo ikaw yung bida??

ako 4 years ago gusto ako yung bida sa band.. ako yung lead, at vocs, 

pero never naging successful pagka bida bidahan ko kasi wala nman akong lakas ng loob. hindi ako pwede maging front man fail na fail ako.

until now gusto ko pa rin namann maging 'bidaman' pero whew okay nako as main gitarist ng isang band.

Ako I think I'm a frustrated guitarist. Papalit palit kasi ako eh gusto magguitara tapos magbabass tapos maggigitara. Kaya nagquit ako. Then nung ininvite ako sa isang church, sinali ako sa music ministry tapos ayun dun ko nagamit yung mga skills ko dati na akala ko walang kwenta. Masaya tumugtog lalo na pag ang tinutugtugan mo eh yung creator ng music. Si God. Astig talaga.

Kasi iba ang satisfaction na nakukuha mo kesa pera. Unless kung income mo na ang paggigitara. Kung nararamdaman mo ito, well music is not for you.

Tapos nood nood ka lang videos. Kahit pinakamagaling na teacher pa ang magturo sayo. Nasa sayo parin yan kung papraktisin mo o hindi. Ang music hindi yan ABC na tinuturo sa school tapos magexam sasagutan mo. Its more on muscle memory so it boils down on how you practiced what you have learned.

Kahit sirang gitara o hineram mo lang na gitara yan mageenjoy ka parin sa pagtugtog nyan. Naalala ko tuloy yung friend ko sobrang halimaw mag gitara pero never siyang nagkaroon ng sariling gitara.
