Dude.. hindi ko ata na explain ng maayos or in detail yung drum head sa recording.. pero hindi ko na i-explain bro.. hahaba lang yung thread.. someday makaka punta ka din sa studio na halos walang sound yung drum heads then you will understand what I am saying.. (no flames no sarcasm, experience is the best teacher sabi nga nila)
I know exactly what you mean. another thing, I DO record drums in a studio. and I know stuff about post production and mixing. and also, I'm not saying you're wrong, its just that its too much of a hassle to do post production just to produce that DESIRED sound rather than just trying to tweak the heads and tuning of the drum.
and I've been to several professional recording studios that have dead-sounding drums, and they are planning to change their heads from thick ones, to single ply ones. case in point, AUDITIONS AUDIO SOLUTIONS, Katipunan QC. This a studio where SOP(yes, the GMA sunday concert show) records their tracks.
I don't know, it seems like you're the more experienced one on the field anyway. it's just my opinion. after all, im young and still not that experienced in drumming.
as you've said, no flames. just my two cents.
