Other blues guys use LPs (humbuckers.. fat tone..).. take Joe Bonamassa, Jimmy Page, B.B. King (not an LP but a 335 w/ HBs).. all of them are blues gods..

both of them are versatile guitars with their own respective limitations.. get a tele, slap in some rail-type pickups and have a coil split feature so you'll get a piece of both worlds.. or get an LP and wire a coil split feature for the similar reason..
any of them would be good.. cliche reply, try them both..
but seriously.. try both side by side, one might sing better to your ears than the other.. one might play better than the other too..
