So theres a thread for pedal boards, a thread for latest stuff bought..why theres even a thread to showcase guitar BACKS...
so heres a thread to pay tribute to our low key,behind the scenes accessory that takes all the beating from the elements..and road abuse...the humble "GUITAR CASE/GIGBAG"..

Post your photos and stories and testimonials about this lowly but very important piece of accessory...also post your insights on how you like your gig bags..snug fit? a bit loose? neck support? waterproof? thick padding? thin Padding? Plain color? Lucid Patterns? etc. preferences and dislikes..

I remember some story of guitar cases saving lives, by dodging bullets..or serving as floaters..I think BB king has a similar story in one of his songs as well...

Nice topic sir, my first ever electric guitar doesn't have a case then. Yung backpack ginagamit ko palagi, body nya lang ang napoprotektahan tapos nakalabas yung neck  those were the days na tingin mo mas astig yun kesa sa guitar case

hahaha, ako naman, pinatahi na parang pahabang drawstring bag na may SAD SACK print..tinahi ng kapatid ng lola ko..para sa genesis series..I think Its still around..tapos..nagupgrade kami bumili kami sa yamaha ng mga padded gigbags na may fender at genesis series na nakaprint sa bulsa..naitapon ko lang mga yun recently..kasi gutay gutay na at putol na yung zippers and parang nadurog na yung foam....pero daming lakad nun..hahaha..kakamiss nga..

meron din akong hardcase noon..galing sta mesa..tapos pinunturahan ko siya ng blue burst...kaso parang nabasa..tapos nalusaw yung cardboard sa loob...hahaha..hardcase crap..na walang kapadding padding...

ako padded gig bag from Bulacan...    dati meron akong galing kay electrosushi, na arbor ng dati kong kabanda, so far okay features nila pareho.... hehe... safe until now ang gitara ko and matibay pagkagawa,parang gumagaan gitara ko bitbitin, tsaka di mainit sa likod...

ako gusto ko din yung medyo manipis yung side profile...lalo pag binackpack siya..

kaya ko natuwa sa nabili kong case kasi..nagawan ko siya ng paraan pagkasya yung OFFSET na type..na swak pa sa Bulky BIGSBY....dahil may Zippers yung loob para maaccess mo yung EVA foam..front and back..so pwede mo tanggalin or ibalik..sakin..nagtapyas ako ng nagtapyas ng portions para magconform sa offset shape..buti nalang ganun...tuwang tuwa ako sa case na yun..hahaha..

Rockbox ba yan? Yun kasing sa friend ko, nagpagawa din ng gigbag sa kanila. Ampanget ng pagkagawa. Kita mo ung tahi sa loob na meron pa mga nalampasan ng makina tapos halos di magkasha yung gitara. Snug fit daw yun. Hahaha. Sa isang kaibigan ko naman nabasa ung effects nya sa konting ambon inside the rockbox case.

Sakin naman,sinave ng gigbag ko yung gitara for possible breakage.

Ugali ko dating isabit sa lock ng bintana sa simbahan yung gigbag ko during service.
One time,nagkataon na walang nilabas na guitar stand kasi nakalimutan daw sa bodega.
Ginawa ko,nilagay ko sa gigbag yung gitara,sinabit,tapos tumalikod na ko para umupo.Then bigla bigla nagswing yung lock ng bintana dahil sa bigat(Di ko inaasahan yun.)

chineck ko yung gitara sa loob kung okey.May malaking paint chip tapos yung gigbag may maikling punit sa ilalim.

Well.Malas lang talaga.Pero buti padded,di grabe yung pagkakabagsak.

Investing on a hardcase is a must. lahat ng gitara ko may hardcase.di baleng mabigat dalhin kesa naman ma-konyatan.

i usually use those beat to crap MIJ cases that came with surplus guitars. they are like 30 years old or something, and they werent really made to handle that much abuse, so i guess it is understandable. besides, they came free... never had to pay for em.

however, since we gig and rehearse a lot more often now, the japanese cases couldnt handle it, and they just ripped themselves to death lol

so i had to buy a new one. and true to what i said, i ended up with a made in china(?) one




its rather new, so it still functions well. got it for 1.8k in a local mall.... its way better than RJ and lazer. i do not know where it was made exactly (my guess is china)...

i dont know how long it holds up. if ever i end up on tour or a real gig ... im getting both a mono case and an SKB, gator, fender, etc. hardcase

if you are a normal gigging musician, a hardcase is too cumbersome. ever rode a jeep carrying a hardcase? ever walked 1K carrying a hardcase? add that with the pocket limitations of hardcases. you cannot stick a lot of things in it

Got one just like this. So useful. Not too bulky but fits most guitars (except odd shaped ones). Di ko nga nagagamit hard case ko.

Wow ang gaganda ng thread sa GC! Dapat pala nababan sa AGT si sir gandy para nakakafocus sa GC. AHAHA joke lang.

Magpipicture ako later ng cases hehe. Yung yamaha sg200 ko ang case niya is parang plywood pa yata yun. Nakita ko kasi may small parts ng black "leather" covering na natatanggal na. (I have to find a way to attach it again).

i also brought a hardcase back then. it was so heavy (a US mahogany washburn custom dime signature) ... my bandmates and i took turns carrying it (we were 16 then). by the end of the rehearsal, they were ready to fire me on the basis of the work it involves to be bandmates with me lol

If someone can invent a product to prevent  CASE BITES...

alam nyo yun..sa hardcase...pagkabukas mo lang parakuhanin..paglift mo ng guitar biglang sasara yung takip then..kaboom..tatama yung bakal ng latch sa body ng guitar...hahaha

alam nyo ba may mga nag rerelic din ng mga tweed hardcases para magmukhang vintage?! I read an article once..

anyway..I alos the like the look of these tweed cases..very "guitarist" yung dating..lalo pag medyo worn down na..haha



I would like to have one in the future..

    Gotta admit, head turner talaga ang hardcase. Un nga lang kung commute ka mejo dusa. Kaya pili ka na lang pogi at protektado ang guitar mo or comportableng bitbitin at walang hassle pero may chance makatikim ng "bonyat" ang guitar mo. Syempre dun na ako sa hard case hehehe.

this is true..hahaha..pag may nakikita akong nakahardcase lalo yung rectangular..medyo pro yung datng..kasi pag mga soft case na maninipis parang  pang bata na mag weekend guitar lessons..haha

Pwede din ba isali dito yung pedalboard gig bag? IMO, Butch Dormitoryo pinaka-matibay, yung saakin, 6yrs old na, buhay parin, zippers, strap etc., kahit ulanan, hindi talaga nababasa, and I gig with it 6x a week, hindi pa kasama mga out of town gigs, matibay talaga!
