hey joseph!

i know how to fix it, but i still blame myself for it.  preventable sana yung mga boo-boos.
i didn't check the drill press if its 90 degrees.  apparently not and it caused the cutter to tilt at an angle, thus making one side of the circle a bit bigger thus making a gap.
i didn't flood the veneer with super glue kaya madaling napunit when sanded.
well, its all part of the learning process :|
i'll work on the redwood top but the spruce i'll have to start over.
man, i hate wasting a pretty good top.  maybe i'll set it aside for another project, i don't know...

thanks joseph :-)

i see

you may want to hook up with junx to get good tops especially german spruce :)

regards

On the red guitar,I used mahogany.Red stain then Nax ceramic topcoat.Copied the body style from Peaey's PDx series Tragic model.Neck is korean made.On the Explorer I used tanguile.I was in a graphics phase back then so I had it painted with a flame design

I told the painter to spray at least 5 coats.I let it cure for 2 weeks, then brought it back to the shop for rubbing and buffing.I guess the coat is still at least 1mm thick

ok storytime...

i drove my wife to a place where she was told can be a place to set up our small business.  the property belonged to her mom's friend.
it was a large compound, i was walking around and i saw this:

what the?!  so i took a closer look.  and behold:

kamagong baby!

and mystery wood that were huge!  i put a sawed off coke bottle so you can get an idea how huge they are.

so apparently it's been sitting there since the 60's.  the father had a furniture business back then and he died so the planks were left there in a huge shed.

i want to buy a few planks!  but i would have to wait monday until the family friend returns.  i was told its not hers but her brother's.  so i hope i can convince them to sell a few planks of the stuff.

wish me luck :-D

just came from my parents' house.

i got most of the red colored wood (dunno what it is, but me likey-likey :-D) and brought them home.  it's the same wood i made the hollowbody 7 string with.  around 50 years old, they're beat up and some are with nail holes.  adds character.  i just need to process them, get rid of the nails, run them through a jointer (i don't feel like doing this by hand :-P) and a planer, and then store.

more for my stash :-D

now whenever i go jogging around my neighborhood i look at construction sites, especially those with houses that are about to be torn down.  you'll never know what may turn up :-D

Sir hindi kaya kalantas ito?

di ako sure eh. kasi yung mga kalantas na nakita ko sa iba hindi kasing pula nito.  baka nga, pero ewan ko lang. it could be anything, but now that i made a guitar out of it, i don't care what it is

here's how the wood looks like as a guitar:

i love the nail marks  8-)
i have planks of this stuff that can make 2 or 3 guitar bodies, i think

anyway madami pang kahoy sa bahay nina erpat at ermat pero kinuha ko na ang mga pula.
i left a lot of planks there still, and i'll come back for them one day :-D

i really hope they're willing to sell.  when i looked at the planks i only saw about 3 of them that can be made into instruments or instrument parts.

i'll be bugging my aunt tomorrow.  i hope that

1.  they sell
2.  they sell at a reasonable price
3.  that the planks i think that are suitable are really suitable.  its hard to tell just by looking at the ends.  i want a few back and side sets :-D

i'll let you guys know once i get an answer.
