Iniisip namin ng Conspiracy Garden Cafe mag-organize ng concert, "Guitars for Good Governance" gagawin this March or April.

UPDATE: Have been talking to Conspi about this.  One idea is to donate the funds towards production of advocacy materials on the issues of the day -- truth, accountability, and governance/social reform. Conspi already produces many of these and we can just help them with their funds.  But nothing set in stone yet, that's why I'm opening it up. Other ideas are welcome.

Ang kikitaing pera ay pwede i-donate sa witness protection fund or pang-pagawa ng mga advocacy materials on the issues of the day -- truth, accountability, and governance reform. Other ideas are welcome.

Seriously all this noise and music in the streets and in the bars will be just that...up until the Army ante's up. History is our teacher. There is no further peg in this struggle but armed struggle. We can shout in the street till we're blue in the face...but until the Army (at least) steps in, expect no change.

Count me in among those who will shout and make noise in the street until we can get other change agents to institute true, lasting reform. ;-)   Kung kailangan parati ng military para magkaroon ng revolt, when we're in a vicious spiral.   We need change in people, culture, as well as institutions.

Anyway, enuff of the politics, back to the topic... sinong bands dyan interested sumali?  Kahit solo, Bob Dylan troubador/folksinger-type, pwede. :-D

Well...the entire musical exercise is a political exercise (i.e. the gaining and maintaining of power). Many benevolent rulers of history have gained their power through military action (e.g. Oliver Cromwell and in recent times, the ousting of Thaksin Shinawatra)...so the use of force has  always had a precedent...whether for good or bad governance afterwards.

What I meant was the short term with the short lady in power. In the long run, we need to throw off this yoke of patronage politics that lays our political leaders beholden to certain interests...not necessarily those of the Filipino people at large. Yes we vote kuno but guess who holds the purse strings.

Given that short discourse cum rant, count the Emogeeks in. We could bastardize our own bastardly lyrics a little to reflect the times hehehe.

Haha funny, this thread went nowhere near the topic.

anyway...
Governance does not only involve the one who's called the President, it involves everyone including you and me. I assume sir Joric (having had his post graduate degree/s(?) from the National College of Public Administration and Governance of UP Diliman) stands not for just ousting GMA but for building a better interaction between the state (government), the private/business sector and civil society towards national development in a democratic-republic setting which is our nation. that, according to a sh!tload of readings, lectures etc. from our college, is Governance. *bow. :-)

anyway, according to my last visit to the college, there are probably 5 of us from the undergrad level who can probably contribute to this Guitars for Good Governance.

Yup. That's the crux...what next ? And what's the alternative ? We put up with this blatant corruption that will put all your unborn descendants into debt ?

True, change has its risks. Not all change is for the better, just as not all movement is forward.

I was watching I dunno if that was a news or a documentary. But one of the featured speakers said something like "as long as the rules don't change, it doesn't matter who you put into power. The players will change but the play remains the same".

Indeed we do need something more far-reaching than merely ousting a President. No I don't have a solution, wish I had. But if I were to imagine it...it would sure be far-removed from what we have now.

What we need is a government where it is the PEOPLE and not the special interest groups that actually put politicians in power. Any suggestions ? I think we could be transferred to the anything goes for talking too much politics hahehehe.
