think classical 17th century music applied today.

Gregor Samsa - Young And Old

minimalist form of band music siya. ika nga, usage of rock elements in a non rock form. like using distortion to thicken the sound. post rock usually relies more on texture or "kapal ng tunog". sometimes it can be minimal. sometimes it can be a friggen wall of sound. heavy usage of delay and reverb rin in addition to just distortion para mag lagay ng texture. i believe this is the only genre where violins could go really well with the whole bandscape. if may vocals man, it seems part of the whole sound itself, minimal lyrics rin.

kame post-rock! hihihihihhi...  :-D

i dont mean to offend but by the looks of your username, you may be referring to "post-hardcore". post-rock is a totally different genre.

@studiowan: talaga? hehe. mameet nga. pupunta rin kami ng malaysia this october eh. by then puros post rock na tinutugtog namin

Love post-rock. Favorite ko yung World's End Girlfriend, Flying Saucer Attack, Mice Parade, et al.

And Godspeed's Raise Yr Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven is one of the greatest things ever. Very emotive music IMO

Tapos perfect wedding music yung So Long, Lonely by Explosions in the sky. Saktong pag-open ng doors tapos papasok yung bride, magpplay yung crescendo

Iba rin yung instrumental lang talaga

Up for this thread. :)

Ang karaniwan na nakikita ko e inspired by that sound.

I like my post-rock to be more on the metal side...great music for tripping out or just relaxing.

My favorite artists and albums:

Isis - Panopticon
Pelican - Australasia, The Fire in Our Throats Will Beckon The Thaw
Neurosis - Souls at Zero, Through Silver in Blood, Given to The Rising
Cult of Luna - Salvation, Somewhere Along The Highway

When it comes to Post-Metal, my favorite band would be Intronaut. Their drummer, Danny Walker is one of my favorite drummers.  :-)

Aimlessly wandering through the net yesterday evening, I found a really awesome post-rock instrumental group that takes it's cues from ambient electronica and Can but adds some really good rock drumming in their numbers.

I'm talking about the group Holy F**k.  I've been listening to album called LP repeatedly over these past few hours now.  Why hadn't I known about this band last year when this album hit store shelves?  Well, better late than never.

I like Japanese post-rock bands more than their American/European counterparts.
