I asked my friend to buy me a Boss BCB60 and a set of Seymour Duncan SH-4 Bridge & SH-2 Neck pickups all for P12,201.00

AH i love that shop! i usually go there every evening nung na-assign ako sa HK...caves of guitars and musical instruments. and you can plug in as long as you want and any guitar you want.

tom lee music is in cameron lane, it's in an alley along that lane, pero you can't miss it. isang building sha. sa ground floor, electric guitars and drums, 2nd floor sheet music, 3rd floor acoustics, hehe. sobrang nalula ako dun, grabe pumasok ako sa c.f. martin room, grabe, muntik na ako maluha, hehe. sinubukan ko lahat ng rosewood guitars nila dun, only to be disappointed, halos katunog lang nila yung jasmine ko, hehe. (baka dahil hindi pa nag-age yung woods nila, oh well.) pero grabe, going there is a whole experience, hehe. tapos dinaldal pa ako nung isang customer dun na chinese, flamenco guitarist, hehe. stayed there for a good 3 hours, hindi na ako nakapag-shopping sa hongkong that day, hehe.

I go to hong kong a lot. and i make sure i visit tom lee each time.
I bought my bass there (fender jazz bass usa). Very cheap.
even simpleng bass strings mura dun. fender bass string set= 650 pesos! dito double the price.
I'll buy all my music gear there.

OT: diba nila pinapayagan pag nakagig-bag as a handcarry? pls suggest how did you bring you epi paguwi. I saw your epi before and it was very very nice for a 20k value. :-)

naka-gigbag siya nung dinala ng dad ko... pasalubong lang nila sakin yun so sila gumawa ng paraan para lang mauwi yun. Nung una, hindi sila pinayagan ihand carry yung guitar kasi nag exceed daw sa limit yung size. Hindi pa nila macheck-in yung gamit nila dahil lang sa guitar ko. Almost 1 hour daw nila kinausap yung mga Chinese na nasa counter sa airport. Suggest kasi ng nandun, icheck in na lang daw, ehh sabi ko sa parents ko na wag ichecheck in pag hindi naka hardcase kasi 100% masisira yun. Buti na lang nakausap nila yung supervisor ng airport kaya napayagan sila. Napahirapan talaga ang mga parents ko makiusap sa Chinese kasi ayaw talaga nila... buti na lang mabait yung supervisor. hehe Kaya sabi ng mom ko, next time na bibili ako ng guitar, dapat daw yung mga available locally na lang daw para walang hassle :lol:

Para sa mga nagtatanong, may Tom Lee sa Hongkong side and meron din sa Kowloon. 'Eto yung mga addresses ng main showrooms:
Kowloon side: 1-9 Cameron Lane, Tsimshatsui
HK side: City Centre Building, 144-9 Gloucester Road, Wanchai
Sana di pa sila nagbabago kasi the last time I went there was in 2005 pa. Try ko nga bumalik ulit next year.hehe. May mga branches nga din pala sila sa New Territories, fyi.

The best talaga to put your guitar purchase in a hard case. I ordered a Les Paul through Sweetwater last month and had it sent to my hotel ahead of my arrival. As soon as I got into my hotel in Orlando, Florida, the guitar was waiting for me. I had the hard shell case wrapped in bubble paper and brought some with me from Manila. Definitely, I had to open it in Orlando to check. Ok siya, walang problema. Balot ulit ng bubble paper. Going home I had to pass through Denver and Los Angeles. Anything can happen in between - baka ibato (carriers are known to do that) or something. And sometimes TSA opens luggages they deemed questionable. As I had an overnight stay in Los Angeles, binuksan ko ulit yung gitara (tugtog ng kunti). Ok siya. Wrap ulit ng bubble paper. From LA to Manila via Narita, Japan, as soon as I got to Manila, opened it and the guitar was intact. Passing through Customs - I just had one luggage and the guitar - when the Customs man asked me if I had anything to declare, sabi ko "wala." They just let me go - no problem. BTW. make sure to put bubble paper support in the neck of the guitar. So, if you want to buy a guitar at Tom Lee, hard shell case lang and look as if you are a seasoned musician from Hongkong going home for the holidays. Kung nakabalot yung instrumento, they cannot tell if it is brand new or used. Just play the part and be confident with your actions and moves. 'Yun lang.

I bought a Classic - Spanish guitar (made in Spain) from tom lee last august, inclusive of a SKB hard-case for about PHP 20K total.
On the way back Philippine airlines had me sign a waver for the guitar upon check in, 2 other passengers also had guitars, but in soft-cases and these survived also.
I think that getting a hard-case from tom lee is not only good for the guitar but about half price compared to here, so it is a good deal as well.
The Tom Lee store in Cameron lane is excellent, they will leave you alone for hours even with the most expensive of guitars, everything is clearly marked with prices and they have a very broad selection of especially Fender, Gibson, Martin and Ovation guitars.

as far as i can recall, sheratons were $4,080 (dots were $2,850, tom delonge model was $3,400). i only saw faded SGs, $7,3xx, i think.

Hey Maxi, my bad..you're right it's at the 3rd floor. I'm always too overwhelmed with the stuff at the ground floor that I tend to forget about the other stuff they have on the other floors :-) Everything was on sale, but unfortunately I didn't get to take home any guitar, amp or pedal this time. I ended up testing everything my hands could reach. It's always fun though. I'll try to post pics sometime soon to help and update those who will be flying to H.K soon :-)

On my Oct 2008 H.K trip, I was fortunate to drop by at guitarsofa. I saw their used pedals, amps and guitars. Interesting stuff too, but prices at Tom Lee are more competitive but they had stuff that Tom Lee didn't have. Then last year January 2009 during another H.K trip, I planned to check out guitarsofa again. When I got there, unfortunately they already had closed down. According to the staff at the building they moved out but he has no idea if they closed down for good. To my frustration, I even tried to ask assistance from the front desk of my hotel back then if they could search for the business contact number via online/landline but unfortunately there was no "guitarsofa" registered in H.K. Ever since then, I heard nothing about guitarsofa.
Just recently, sa Tom Lee lang ako pumunta coz I don't know if guitarsofa closed down for good or they just moved to a new address. Maybe someone who has been there recently can drop in for the new location :-)

I love Tom Lee. I got my lite-ash tele and a good amount of pedals at very good prices. Don't expect them to have complete stock alll the time, though. When I went there last April, a lot of their guitars from Fender, Gibson and Ibanez were gone. Their sales are that good. :-)

Hey Bryan! If you're flying to Asia soon and you want stuff you can't get from there, I would recommend you to try Tokyo instead of H.K.
You're truly blessed as everything under the sun is available there in the US, which is a bit unfortunate for us Pinoys. From food, to clothing, to medicines, to schooling, and many more up to the American Dream. I do remember in a past US trip, my jaw dropped when I saw the guitar stores you guys have there. Hands down to America. Tom Lee is certainly nothing as to compared to what you guys have in the US.
But back here in Asia, Tom Lee seems to be just enough to put a smile on our faces :-)

Back to Tom Lee, as for me.. It's quite the opposite. After hours of trying out stuff/contemplating at Tom Lee and stepping out the door with words like "To buy or not to buy" lingering around my head, I never feel walking out empty handed as I make sure to satisfy and fill up my tummy in the restaurant just beside it after seeing all the GAS back in there :-)

Surely sir, though I rarely take the cab/taxi so I only remember the directions to the Tom Lee Wan Chai branch (Hong Kong side) via MTR coming from Tsim Sha Tsui (Kowloon side).

Take the MTR and go to Admiralty (red line) on the direction to Central (1 stop). Then switch to the blue line (direction Chai Wan) going to Wan Chai (1 stop).

Once you go up the escalators, turn right and just look for the exit that says "Lockheart Road". If I'm not mistaken I think it's exit C2. As soon as you're out of the station, make a right and just keep walking straight ahead. You will encounter a major intersection, just cross it and still go straight until you see "Novotel Century Hong Kong" which is beside Red Box Karaoke on your left. Once you see that hotel, make a left past it and you'll see Tom Lee on your right side which is approximately 20 meters from there.
The Tom Lee Wan Chai branch is much much smaller, but they always have different stocks as to what Cameron lane has compared to what they have. I always make sure to visit both branches whenever I have the opportunity to be in H.K. In the past (when I was a bit more hardcore), I remember I would go around 4-5 branches of Tom Lee just to compare stocks but in the end I have found that the Wan Chai branch is already the next best thing to Cameron Lane branch in terms of stocks.

i was there last december 29 and they had a 72 tele deluxe (walnut, MIM) for around 7,400 (i'm not that sure pero it's close). wala ako nakitang classic player jaguars, or any jaguar, for that matter. yung jazzmaster na pinost ni rob lang nakita ko na off-waist.

its surprising that the godin's are more cheaper here..$100USD less than guitarcenter..i thought about it but it made sense to buy it in the usa because i dont have to deal with it when traveling..if it was like $500 then i wouldnt have to think about it lol
well made guitars..it felt better than some of the fender MIM i tried here..however there was one red tele MIM(i think) that was setup really well..these two godin velocities where the one's that were setup right..

Not sure about Fenders, pero I agree konti nga gibson...
Mas interesado ako sa acoustic sa ngayon, kaya mas matagal ako sa 3rd floor (Cameron Lane store).
For Taylor and Martin, parang list price ang ginagamit nila not street price (what you usually see sa Music123 etc)
Pero Larrivee and Jose Ramirez street price.
If you want to compare wood combinations, this is a great store to visit.

Hi Oyo, I only saw 1 Fender Japan last January of this year:

There was also 1 Korean ash tele.. But most of their Fender are either US and Mexico. I'm not sure of what they currently have in stock though, but Japanese Fenders seem to be a rarity in Tom Lee. Hope this helps :-)

I was on a business trip to HK last week. Man, my schedule was so hectic that I was not able to roam around, moreso visit Tom Lee.
Only to find (on my last day of visit) that there is one branch at the same building as our office, but not as big as Causeway Bay branch which I planned to visit.
I couldn't believe what I saw ... a Taylor 110CE at approximately PHP32K lang... eh binili ko ito sa RJ at 20%off at 48K :-(

No idea. Pero sale or no sale, it is generally cheaper to buy in Tom Lee compared to our local resellers.
Take this tele highway-one for example. It costs approximately PHP34K sa Tom Lee whereas sa PP more than PHP40K ito. Muntik na ako mapabili pero naghunus-dili ako ... so I ended up buying the Digitech CF-7 :-)

So far, hindi naman pa nangyari sakin. Bumili ako before the Ibanez 7 string, in hard case. Hindi naman ako sinita ng customs. Same now with my small items na naka plastic. Maganda siguro bumili ng custom shop fender na relic para hindi isipin ng custom na bago, haha.

This is the one opposite the famous Chungking Building.
It's on the fourth floor Parsons Music.
You walk in the floor is made of tempered glass and behind it is the Slash signature LP.
Next step is some Gibson tied to a Transformers franchise.
Next one to that IS the Page LP.
They had a Gibson VOS going for HK$50,000.
They had a J200 Epiphone that sounded sweet for HK$4000 plus.
A micro terror, dual terror, dark terror Orange amps.
This store is definitely brand new and a bit small but definitely worth checking out if you want to see some Gibsons.

What is wrong with this shop? Sales people who are arrogant and clueless, $50,000 custom shop relic fenders just being precariously placed on top counters. &19,000 EJ strats just on the floor racks on a corner of a busy pathway.
I went their to buy a Boss TE2 yesterday i asked them do you have a new one and they said only the display....i said okay ill take it. Then he tells me there is no box for it. I tell him i want a box and prefer a new one.
He said it will take him 4 months. i asked him you mean to tell me you have it on display....for sale and THAT is the only BOSS TE2 in HK!!??
Told me he will call the other shops and call me on Thursday.
I ufikncg hate that shop. When my amp was acting up i wanted to take it to them coz i bought it there and they told me they are not the distributor for Gibson anymore. I told them well it is still an amp and you fixed it once when the switch was broken.
They said they couldnt help me there anymore.
Im glad they lost the license to sell Gibsons.

In shanghai, they had a big store before...they sell everything overpriced..and they dont even have much stuff available..service was bad..hey closed up shop pretty quickly..My only regret is i wasnt in SH when they closed up shop..couldve have talked with manegers to let go of their branded,aging and dusty display models..they even had a am std strat with a huge chunk of paint peeling off...couldve made a nice relic..hehehe

$50,000 guitar was laying face down on a counter top which was already piled up with miscellaneous items. Guitars on this price range are normally hanged head level high with a lock on the neck.
Last time i was there the EJ strats where hanged on shoulder level. They look like indonesian strats on the floor rack stands. As i was randomly pulling one out to test the pedal was surprised it was an EJ strat in red and another one in gold finish by its side.
The place is a mess i tell you.

I was at HK recently, visited 3 branches: Causeway Bay, Tsim Sha Tsui and Wan Chai.
Will post pics soon. Causeway was the first place I visited on the 2nd day of my trip, scored a Blackstar LT Distortion there.
Was gunning for a Blackstar LT Dual, wandered into the main branch at Tsim Sha Tsui and demoed it, but was spirited away as we had an appointment to keep. :-(
Wanted to hang around and chat with the folks. I did chat with fellow kababayan who works there and has lived in HK for over 20 years. He identified me as being Pinoy, and generously offered me a store discount if I decide to purchase a guitar. It was a "Proud to be Pinoy" moment :mrgreen:

They never smile or try to break that ice.
They never called me back for an update on that Boss TE-2 that i wanted to purchase.
I had to call most of the shops around HK.
No TE-2 in HK.

sobrang sarap bumili dyan pag chinese new year, sale lahat! maghanda ka nga lang ng napakaraming pera dahil sobrang dami mong mabibili haha! sarap lang!

Si Kookie rin nag-assist sakin when I was looking for a George L's cable. He told me just to get their generic cable as it uses the same cables. He assembled it for me while I tried the guitars. Spent my money on other items na lang. Eto pic ni Kookie (Yung may highlights hehe). Ang bait sobra! Mabuhay ka Kookie. See you next time! BTW, sa kanya din pala nakabili ng fretless Warwick yung office mate ko. 10k ata lang haha

Went to TST Tom Lee last month and got to try one of the custom shop fenders there. It's a reliced piece and the most expensive guitar i've ever laid my hands on so far (HK$63,000). Lo and behold, not one attendant bothered me when I tested it on a Fender DR amp ^-^ ^-^

On the contrary, bro, this is actually the worst time to be there as most stores are closed on Chinese New Year. Some even stretch it to a week. The best time to go there and shop like there's no tomorrow is between the second week of July down to the last week of August. That's their sale season.

anyway i've read wala na daw yung "kookie" guy sa tom lee, may iba pa bang friendly face that i could look for sa store?
i just want to check-out secondhand guitars, TC electronic effects, pick-ups, recording stuff, or at the very least decently priced elixir strings. hopefully somebody can point me to the right direction, it would be very much appreciated!

I was fortunate to buy something from this store last November 2014, and actually the first person to enter their store , pumila pa for opening haha! Then I went directly to the guitar effects section since it was sale at that time -- the staff immediately handed me a guitar and let me select what effects that he should set up, I ended up buying the NS2 and OS2. :-D :) and the price is so cheap! I was rooting for a GE7 but my girlfriend already looking at me badly --dalawa lang daw! haha! :-o
My girlfriend is set to go there this november again, so may mga papabili na ako ulit :wave:
