Hehe. Syempre di kami papahuli...
Graduated from UP Manila BA in Org Communication - 1992 Finished Master's degree in Public Administration from UP Diliman - 1995
I played countless concerts sa Little Theater of UP Manila (kahit simple events like English Week, etc.) and sa UP Diliman Fair and related events during those years I was in college. My gear then was a Rudy Disipulo Roadtone guitar. My OD pedal was home-made by a bandmate's cousin. And my amp at home was a little Fender X-15 (Bullet Reverb) amp. Before that I just plugged into our home stereo's mic input. We played classic rock covers -- Cream, Led Zep, JDLC, and--of course--blues.

Eto UP joke:
In a UAAP match at the Aranets, DLSU and Ateneo people were heckling each other during a game between those two schools. All of a sudden, some DLSU brats brought in Gary V. This kinda frustrated the eagles and most of them said:
"Hah, someday you'll be working for us."
Some UP guys heard this and made a comment:
"Hah, someday you'll be bribing us."

2000 - B(S) Computer Science...
this was at the time where you had to take some different (non-CS) subjects to get a BS instead of a B... go figure.
Played only once in my college stay... Maskipaps late 1996 or early 1997... was hanging out with the CS org and they found out I could play... did a couple of Gin Blossoms songs, hehe.

played at UP Fair sa diliman nung 04,05,06 and recently 07. Pinaka memorable yung 05 saturday night, we played at around midnight before us was The Youth and after us was PNE. Ang galing nung line-up nung night na yun, alternating yung "big band" and UP band. :-) ayun bago kami tumugtog nagtatalunan yung mga bollocks tapos nung kami na nagsiupuan lahat hehe.

Didn't have a band in college, but had one in high school. It was the grunge era, and the highlight of our highschool lives was the UPIS school concert of '93 or '94, sa aming multi-purpose hall. About ten to twelve bands signed up, and the opening act of the show was Eraserheads, who reportedly agreed to play for a measly two cases of beer or something. We played, as expected, pearl jam, stp, nirvana etc and i was using a borrowed RJ Rokker. We rehearsed at Alberto's near Q-mart, and we'd jam at around 4 a.m. cos that was the only available slot on short notice. After jamming, mang jun would serve us breakfast of pandesal and dairy creme.
First ever concert that I watched was 3DB, at the sunken garden featuring The Hayp, After Image, and the Dawn. Dunno if that was back in highschool or early college.
Back in college, I wouldn't miss watching UPM's Elvis shows. Mga coņo mga classmates ko sa BA so i'd usually go alone. Naku never ako nagsawa sa kakulitan ni Romeo Lee. At laging merong "mabangong usok na kay puti" in the background. The original Pu3ska was always fun to watch. Hehehe.
Law school, fair na lang na aattendan ko, usually because i'd get stuck in the libe or my class would end at the time the show started so what the heck diba. Fifty pesos, endless fun.
After law school, i joined a band with four ateneans, whose thread incidentally got transferred to "Anything Goes Talaga." Hehehe.

Gitarista ng UP EcoSoc band band band (AKA hot lava, AKA bluvudu). We used to play blues based rock and roll (Aerosmith, Cream/Clapton, Black Crowes, Hendrix)

several times kami nag UP Diliman Fair. pero the last one we pulled out around midnight kasi usog ng usog yung sked, napagod kami kakahintay... :-(

The Dawn.... that was 1994, right? Their last run before going on that long hiatus. I saw Francis Reyes once or twice walking around UPLB back then. Missing that show was one of my biggest regrets in college. Hehehehe. Of course, I didn't know at the time that they'd eventually reform.
The Youth at River Maya lang yung pinanood ko talaga nung time ko. Ironically, mas madalas ko pa napapanood ang Datu's Tribe ngayon.

Ang tugtog na ginawa ko lang noon eh harana sa Sampa, Ilang saka Kamia, (sama na rin ang Kalayaan girls).
Pinaka-memorable na UP fair, 1996. 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. talaga ang tugtugan sa Sunken Garden. Saka yung Openhouse ng Narra na sangkatutak na banda ang dumayo (1995).
Wala akong gear noon sa dorm. Ang pampraktis ko lang eh yung luma kong Lumanog. Jamming with LFS sa Vinzons rooftop, jamming sa 2nd floor ng AS, manood ng jamming ng Backdraft (Jigs, asan ka man, tugtog ulit kayo!!!).
Wag palang kalilimutan ang Maskipaps. Babae yung vox namin dun, ala indido girls (lalaki nga lang ang drums, bass at lead, wahehehe)

oist is also from up.. diliman to be exact.. ex-FA schyuwdeynt.. hehe.. madalas kami nag-gigitara sa labas ng studio, tapos nagpapasahan ng new scales and techniques.. minsan dun naman ako sa steps ng Palma pag vacant time ko sa GE's... blues to j-rock to metal <actually we call it death aluminum... hehehe...> to pinoy rock to tugtugan ng bulag to bioman theme on my friend's trusty marshall amp and sunburst strat.. di ko pa nadala yung electrics ko dun kahit minsan..
parang nobela na to ah.. hehe.. :-D
but i don't consider myself a guitar slinger.. di ako ganun kagaling to be called one.. :-)

I use to hang out at the UP Diliman Library Walk from 1973 to 1976. My ex was a MassComm student then and I was there everyday! Most people thought I studied there. Is that counted? hahahahaha

I use to hang out at the UP Diliman Library Walk from 1973 to 1976. My ex was a MassComm student then and I was there everyday! Most people thought I studied there. Is that counted? hahahahaha

Now I remember that. hahaha I think maybe 25 centavos. hehehehe xchange rate then was P3 to $1. My memory fails me. :(

wala ba kau napapansin during the last few up fairs?parang nawawala ung quality ng music?di na rin maganda ung mga konsepto ng fairs,puro rakrakan walang patutunguhan.i remember way back 95-98 magaganda pa ung mga konsepto,may reggae nyts,blues at rak n rol.ngaun bukod sa chopsuey ung lineup walang lasa ung mga tumutugtog.bakit walng dong abay,gary granada,joey a,noel cabangon,jerks,trop dep,pepe smith sa mga nagdaan na fairs?puro na lng ba pulpol at pacute na banda patutugtugin?
just thinking guys parang masaya yata na bumuo tau ng org o grupo na bubuhay sa mga ganitong legendary acts.just my opinion though.

Kontakin nyo yung nag-oorganize ng fair. Dati kasama pa ko dun sa paghanap ng mga tutugtog. Kita ko nga yung line-up sa peyups.com ng mga nag-perform nitong mga nakaraang fair, alang wenta.
@bakit, di na rin kasi siguro nakikialam ang mga frat. Dati pasikatan pa sila kung sino ang makukuha nila. Naging amuyong nyo nga pala ako, di lang nagtuloy.

i was there :) great concert. parang huling huli na talaga. mejo madami kami nun kasi kasama namin yung mga naghihintay ng bus para sa hum trip to ilocos sa madaling araw. those days were really nice for rock concerts. there was one almost every week.

Bibigyan ka ng plastic na pangbalot ng kamay tapos babalutan din ng plastic ang platong lalagyan ng ulam at kanin. Four pesos lang may kanin at ginisang upo ka na! Kung medyo galante, 12 pesos ang inihaw na liempo w/ rice. :-D

Si Aling Lina saka si Aling Zeny (me utang pa ko don). Pag birthday ko binibigyan nila ko ng isang bilaong bibingka saka isang bilaong maha at pansit.

It was really sad when he passed away kasi most of us UPD based bands circa 2003-present dun madalas...pero shout out to duane for continuing the bluberi experience hehe, astig ka tsong! :lol:

UPLB ako, pero post-grad sa CEAT,under grad ko sa ibang school. Diploma in Electrical Engineering major in Power Electronics! two years lang yung diploma course and graduate ako nung 99. :-D

dun sa UP Manila, istambay ako sa pillars at sa corridors with my Lumanog acoustic gtr, tuned to open-G, figuring out Robert Johnson, Skip James, songs etc. you could say i was also busking, not for money, but to get attention from d chicks. ;-)
ang lunch ko nuon, monggo or togue + rice. extra rice pag napasarap.
sa Public Ad dun ako kumakain sa abandoned old bldg. rice + fresh cooked sardinas and noodles! sarap!

guitar and gig: ang vacant ko nun 10:30am to 2:30pm, tapos p.e. na (football), 10:30 palang nasa oval na ako, quick lunch tapos guitara na hanggang 2:30, wrote lots of songs there, yung gitara ko (lokal na strat) may secret compartment lalagyan ng 8-), gitara lang at smokeout for 4 hours...one time bigla nalng may helicopter :-o si ramos yata, ka-praning ampucha...

yung latasia fusion lilipat na dahil amgkaka road widening daw at nasama yung place nila dun. di ko sure kung saan lilipat. diba kaya lumulubog ng ilang cm per year yung sunken dahil sa underground stream pati kaya bawal na daaanan yung sa may lib din at kung bakit may m lagoon hehe? yun lang naaalala ko sa geol 1 ko eh hehe

03-***** art studies UP DILIMAN. didn't know some of the guitarists I look up to are from my beloved school, to top my list would be sir deltaslim. i saw him play at fete 06 and i would say he is one of the greatest guitarists i saw play live in my entire life, along with his great great band, soul benders. :-) well maybe because i got the blues too. hehe :-D

03-***** art studies UP DILIMAN. didn't know some of the guitarists I look up to are from my beloved school, to top my list would be sir deltaslim. i saw him play at fete 06 and i would say he is one of the greatest guitarists i saw play live in my entire life, along with his great great band, soul benders. :-) well maybe because i got the blues too. hehe :-D

pero P100 lang naman sa conspi? tipid ka na lang muna ng panginom o ibang bisyo para makabayad entrance. o kaya kung magde-date ka ng chicks mo, dun na lang kayo para sulit -- date na concert pa. baka ma-in the mood pa, gf mo pagkatapos makining ng mga soundtrack ng adult movies. ;-)

i played Strats w/ previous bands, incl during college. with Firebottle and Soul Benders, either mga naka Tele or Strat na mga kasama kong gtrst, so LP/SG na lang ako. better for slide too e.

Nag-stage act kami. May isang prop pa nga akong sinipa sa stage ng CS Auditorium, tapos by accident tumalsik papunta sa isang kaklase. :lol:
nyahaha. kami sir report lang e, took it last sem. ang dami ko pala groupmate nun na music major, yung isa guitar major pa, tapos yung isa sax ng bridge ata ngaun, si paul. tapos nung first day namin suot ko yung org shirt namin (UPMC) tapos nakasulat yung instrument sa likod (guitar) tapos nung nalaman ko na taga CMu sila hiyang-hiya ako haha! :roll:

we were asked to do a report for hum 1 and we decided to do a play instead of the usual report.my team leader asked who can play guitar and i volunteered.he then asked me if i could play in notes or whatever and i nodded,hehe di ko alam na he meant classical pala.so there i was playing basura by the youth complete with arpeggios of which i am no master.pilosopo daw ako,notes naman ang chords nun di ba?rakenrol!

I remember playing four times. Hum 1, Comm 2, STS and Agri 199. Kung pang-impress factor lang, it would have to be STS, kasi I had a bunch of pretty classmates as groupmates, and it worked to some extent.
However, the most meaningful for me was Comm 2. I had to write a term paper on the history of the damn thing and present it in front of class. I figured it would make sense if I actually had one as a prop.

naalala ko nung klase ko sa Pan Pil 17. pop culture. ang nireport ko nun tungkol sa ilang awit ng Eraserheads in relation to structuralism tsaka commodification ata yun. mejo nalimutan ko na. hehe.
tinugtog ko nun sa klase ang 'poorman's grave' tsaka 'hey jay.' wala naman talaga akong pinagpapasikatan na kras. gusto ko lang talaga tumugtog. tsaka, para maiba lang. hehe.
nag maskipaps din kami ng banda ko nung december 2005. grabe lang. naunang umakyat yung tatlo kong kabanda kasi wala pa kong gitara. manghihiram pa lang. nairaos na nila yung unang awit nang umakyat na ko't may nahiram ng gitara mula sa naunang banda sa amin. parang masama pa nga ata ang loob nung nagpahiram sa akin. hehe. kung nandito ka man, pasensya na pare. pag sikat na ako, bigyan kita ng libreng album namen with otograp. libre naman ang mangarap di ba? haha.
tapos, marami pang ibang gig sa loob ng isang taong pagbabanda ko. natatamad na kong magkwento. hehe. ngayon, wala ulit akong banda.
oo nga pala, hindi ako taga underground o music circle. wala lang. haha. kapayapaan!

naging expert ako gumawa ng excuse letters, promisory notes, letter para sa chancellor na nagmamakaawang tanggapin pa ako sa UP for the coming sem and other related stuff.
natutunan kong d kelangan pumasok araw araw en "there's always a removal exam"

Had no chance to form a band though back then.... ako lng ang me alam sa heavy metal music sa mga kabatch ko and d pa kaya bumli ng mga gears... acoustic lng meron ako....

ako 3. meron kasi akong ChE majors na laboratory. nung unang sem, na-chambahan na yung groupmates ko dalawang chicks na cumlaude standing, kaya 1.0 ako. :-D natuwa naman silang groupmate ako kasi may tigabuhat sila ng gamit sa lab at gumagawa ng dirty work, kaya kinontrata ako for the next sem. ayun, 2 ChE labs na 1.0 ang grade. :lol: :lol:
yung isa naman, Comm 3 under kay Melanie Moraga. may angat na 0.25 daw sa grade pag complete attendance. buti na lang at masaya yung klase namin nun hindi boring. yun lang ang nag-iisang klase ko sa buong stay ko sa UP na hindi ako um-absent ni minsan. kaya ako naka-1.0 rin. :lol:

ako 3. meron kasi akong ChE majors na laboratory. nung unang sem, na-chambahan na yung groupmates ko dalawang chicks na cumlaude standing, kaya 1.0 ako. :-D natuwa naman silang groupmate ako kasi may tigabuhat sila ng gamit sa lab at gumagawa ng dirty work, kaya kinontrata ako for the next sem. ayun, 2 ChE labs na 1.0 ang grade. :lol: :lol:

It works both ways. Nagturo na rin ako sa UP (in my mid-20s then) and I can definitely say na di rin ako maka-concentrate sa lessons pag may hot girl students. :-) Pero pag sila complete attendance, mas malaki ang chances for passing. :-)

WTF is wrong with not liking an org? Nothing. But what's wrong is when you bash them in a public domain. It's like saying "I don't like Brits, so don't go to the UK..."
Anyway, I do have some objections to UP Underground's initiation rites (even though the officers are very close friends of mine, one of which is Doc of The Brew) but I still find their circle quite unique. The underground folks are a bit more of the anti-formalist folks (though some really have some chops too) while the UPMC folks are more trained (hence they have more music majors there.)
We were also supposed to put up an org in UP BTW. Ang tawag UP SideDown. Ang idea dapat lahat ng tao komedyante (no joke.) Dapat ang talent mo may leaning sa humor... Si Jocano of CAL pumayag na maging adviser pero ang problema namin paano gagawa ng by-laws dahil sigurado comedy din yun...

^^ actually sir Dodjie wala pa (as far as I know) or meron yata pero isa lang na member/alumni ng UPMC na music major, hehe. Many applied pero never really finished the app process.Yun yung isang major misconception about the org kaya daw marami natatakot mag apply when in fact most of the people there are just normal musicians who like to play hehe. :lol:

sir bakit?, correction lng po. public domain po ito, the fact that the thread does not bar anyone not from UP or not a guitarist is proof enough. i am not a guitarist but i am from UP.
i think we should each be responsible with the words we dish out especially if it pertains to other people's religion, ethnicity, affiliations, etc. it's simple matter of respect and ethic. i do not mean that you keep your opinions to yourself. being a fellow Isko, i would like to believe that you are of same brilliant mind and therefore contain brilliant ideas. the forming of a new music org is indeed brilliant. it may yet fill the need that the UP Underground and UP Music Cicle have not addressed. but stepping on the very idea that others espouse and live by hardly constiutes a fair and sound mind. it reeks of bitterness and conceit.
sir, you have maligned the UP Underground in another thread (mga bandang ayaw nyo). you lay claim the fact that what they wear and what they believe in makes them unworthy of your fair judgement and thus label them as poseurs. you mentioning all the bands of the UP Underground as not to your liking is a very valid opinion, no matter how shaky the reasons. it is noted and respected.
being a fellow music lover and musician, i condone the use of poseur/poser/posero as an adjective used to describe a fellow musician or a group of musicians. it not only insulting and degrading but also problematic. anyone can be called a poseur by anybody. there are no clear guidelines to it. you may well be a poseur to someone else.
and i really don't think that spending a litlle time with the group (UP Underground; you were an applicant right?) gives you a complete enough idea to boldly judge its legitimacy. though your words, sir, make me want to doubt your capacity as fitting leader and founder of this UP Rakenrol. but then again i do not want to doubt, for only you know that group's would-be ideals. your strong and unwavering opinion on others (bordering on prejudice and elitism) and your fierce determination to rally a group based on your ideals....hmmm....and i thought UP Underground was the only group governed by a dictator. silly me.
but i, sir, am a firm believer of vengeance. and if your apparent barrage of opinions or anger upon the two respected music orgs take root from a past slight, like a failed application or seeming unnaceptance then by all means fire away.
my thoughts on the matter end here.

sir, do not mistake opinions with attack.
an intellectual discussion on your views (much like your latest post is an opinion; very valid one in fact) but putting the term "fu....." before the org's name is an attack. saying the bands in one org are posero is an attack.
something new and unique in music is impossible. bands or musicians may have added a twist to their music but it's hardly new. all the artists you have mentioned are great artists. i have the highest praises for all of them. but their music, sir, is hardly new. they have been inspired by other artists that they have listened to. or maybe you haven't listened to their predecessors.
actually listening to some of these bands you have strong opinions against (sacramento, la passionaria, oi wag dito, the brew, chubibo, other bands of up underground) may help you notice the subtle differences and twists they have done to their music. they are quite good.
and may i ask you sir, a seemingly advanced thinker, to submit your music to criticism, scrutiny and praise.

anong nag-engganyo senyo at napag-tripan nyong humawak ng gitara? bakit hindi drums, or bass, or maracas (hehe). malamang meron din kayong nahawakan na hindi musical instrument, at sini-shred nyo rin to once in a while (using your toungue,, whooops), pero anyway, share nyo naman.
ako, nagsimula akong magka-interes noong nasa LB ako. wala kasi halos magawa dun, ayoko naman umuwi ng bahay every weekend. bale ang natutunan ko dun eh, gitara, yosi at san miguel grande with lechon kawali, da best.

My sister (who is also from UPLB) forced me into taking up guitar kse daw "mas sikat since nasa harap" I've always wanted to play drums kse. baka sinabi lang nya para matahimik nako sa kakakulit ko about drums. She taught me the basics of reading song hits while i was starting out. Now i love the guitar 2nd to my love in playing the drums.
I got encouraged into pursuing it one afternoon when I learned "Smells Like Teen Spirit" using an old song hits lying around. Nung nabuo ko yun, naisip ko, "kaya ko pala mag gitara" hehehe

I'm Cyril. I sing and play guitars for my band, Lovecore. I also do electronica using the name "silverfilter."
UPLB ako commarts. I'm a member of the UP Jammers' Club naman.
I have a Fender Squire Standard Sunburst, Washburn N1, Washburn N2, Epiphone Les Paul Custom, and an Epiphone Flying V.
I have N series guitars kse Idol ko si Nuno. Yung V, nakuha ko sa forum. aliw eh. The LP, from the Forum as well. I fell in love with how it looked kse. I never was a fan of LP's but this one turned me around. My squire naman, I bought coz I want a strat para a la John Mayer hehe
Skillwise, I can honestly say I'm not that good. No shredder. excuse ko nga kunyari Clapton ako kse "slow hands" hehe I can do solos but I don't have the speed and clarity like most of my idols (Nuno, Paul Gilbert, Kotzen, etc)
I'm more into blues, classic rock, and funk. Though I occasionally get my doze of alternative rock :-D

salamat anoemous! :-) nung nasa eng'g pa ako, mahirap dahil very demanding sa oras, lalo na kapag nagsabay yung madaming exams at madaming gigs. tas when you start to lose interest in your course, lalong nakakafrustrate when you're stuck in the classroom listening to your prof ramble about the statics of rigid bodies while you'd rather be in band practice. nagsawa na rin ako dahil since high school puros math at science na lang ang itinutok samin (pisay).
thankfully, nakapagshift ako sa art studies, which to me is way more interesting and fulfilling. aside from visual arts, we also study music theory and various musical forms so madami ka ding mapupulot pag musikero ka.
going back to your original question, hindi naman ganun kalaki yung pressure na pagsabayin yung acads at banda as long as you enjoy doing both :-)

huwaw astig en'ng pala kayo dati sir, lupet! naabutan nyo ba sila bheng at dan ng kikomachine? dapat sa UP fine arts ako kaso di pinalad, kaya agribis na ako ngayon sa UPLB :-D
so far i enjoy both, napagsasabay ko yung acads ko at the same time yung band, worried lang ako na baka dumating yung panahon na mapabayaan ko ang acads ko because of band, lalo na kung papalarin na magkaroon na ng gigs jan sa manila, but still no. 1 priority ko pa rin ang acads, iniisip ko na lang na 1 taon na lang naman at makakagradweyt na ako.. (hopefully!)
salamat ser! more power sa banda nyo! rakenroll!!

Ya know, hindi mahirap lutuin ang mixed toppings. You don't need extra exotic Thai ingredients. Ang mahirap hanapin is FRESH THAI CHILI para sa suka at patis.

ah, nalagpasan ako ng deadline sa Econ, so naghanap ako sa Diliman ng nagaaccept pa ng transferees. Educ lang nung time na yun. Then year after, nakapagshift na din. Tapos after 2years pagkapasok ko sa Econ naka-grad na rin!

What if may mag open ng guitar shop sa SC selling affordable guitars, pedals, amps, etc -- magsurvive/thrive kaya? Is there a big enough market for it? When I look at the other shops there (optical, lab supplies, etc), parang ang hina naman ng business nila pero ang tagal na nila run!
Tapos ung shop meron din sana rehearsal studio sa taas. Ewan ko kung payagan pero patok na business yun ah.

kaya lang karamihan sa mga UP bands ay suki na ng blueberri, MRS or blueroom. pero good idea yan, lalo na pagka booked na ang inyong suking studio, sa sc na lang ang jamming :-)

hehe... o heto, something to keep this going and relevant.
post kayo pics nyo busking or playing in and around the campus. di yung tipong gig sa Fair or college event ha. yun tipong pang tambayan lang, etc.
heto pics ko nung nag-busk ako and Sunday morning with my family.
nakaka miss ang sunken, havent re-visited UP Diliman since 2002. used to practice with an acoustic there every weekend nights too.

Bro I know a lot of musicians who don't need intensive knowledge of music theory but can still kick ass when they play. And I doubt that MC is shallow in terms of musicality and music talent, never was and never will.

Marami bro, you just have to find out for yourself. I recently initiated collaborations between the two orgs and it was really fun, setting up a gig with MC and UG bands playing and jamming side by side. Magagaling talaga ang mga taga-UP tumugtog.
Why don't you guys try applying hehe. I might be there if you audition this sem.Who knows, baka ako pa mag-audition sa inyo. :wink:

You'd be surpirsed kung gano karaming musicians (hindi lang sa UP), ang magagaling, but at the same time hindi well-versed sa formal music theory. el dorko and fraudulentzodiac: sorry for the term "mababaw". that's not what i really meant to say. my point is, members of a "music" organization should have musical knowledge.however, that's just my opinion. i'm not saying that the UP Music Circle should take take that direction. that's just my ideal vision of a music organization.
Bro I know a lot of musicians who don't need intensive knowledge of music theory but can still kick ass when they play. And I doubt that MC is shallow in terms of musicality and music talent, never was and never will.
i never said that MC is shallow in terms of musicality. in fact, one of my colleagues is acquainted with a few members of MC. i heard that they play well and i'm happy that iskolars don't only just excel in academics, but in music as well.
i apologize for saying that they're "mababaw". like i said earlier, music theory is a very valuable factor for a music organization. i hope that that'll clear things up a bit. i never meant to offend you guys.

Anyway, sige usapang theory kuno, once in a while I head over to the College of Music library to check out some books, lotsa good stuff there... hiniram ko dati yung "Zen Guitar", it's not a theory book per se pero it's an excellent read nonetheless. :-) Sa CAL library din there are a bunch of cool music books, yung iba non-western pa.

You'd be surpirsed kung gano karaming musicians (hindi lang sa UP), ang magagaling, but at the same time hindi well-versed sa formal music theory. Didn't have a band in college, but had one in high school. It was the grunge era, and the highlight of our highschool lives was the UPIS school concert of '93 or '94, sa aming multi-purpose hall. About ten to twelve bands signed up, and the opening act of the show was Eraserheads, who reportedly agreed to play for a measly two cases of beer or something. We played, as expected, pearl jam, stp, nirvana etc and i was using a borrowed RJ Rokker. We rehearsed at Alberto's near Q-mart, and we'd jam at around 4 a.m. cos that was the only available slot on short notice. After jamming, mang jun would serve us breakfast of pandesal and dairy creme.
First ever concert that I watched was 3DB, at the sunken garden featuring The Hayp, After Image, and the Dawn. Dunno if that was back in highschool or early college.
Back in college, I wouldn't miss watching UPM's Elvis shows. Mga coņo mga classmates ko sa BA so i'd usually go alone. Naku never ako nagsawa sa kakulitan ni Romeo Lee. At laging merong "mabangong usok na kay puti" in the background. The original Pu3ska was always fun to watch. Hehehe.
Law school, fair na lang na aattendan ko, usually because i'd get stuck in the libe or my class would end at the time the show started so what the heck diba. Fifty pesos, endless fun.
After law school, i joined a band with four ateneans, whose thread incidentally got transferred to "Anything Goes Talaga." Hehehe.
