MT-2 + SD1 -- eto special mention. nagka-warmth maski pano yung MT2.
yung 2nd pedal nag-aact as booster. ganda ng resulta. :-D

dun pala sa tatlong unang combos ko, ang hinahabol kung tunog yung ala-Marshall hi-gain crunch. ayun nakuha naman niya. kaso yung BD-2 + OD100 combo, kelangan ko magcut ng konti sa bass ng OD100, para magtunog marshall. astig nga e, yung reklamo ng mga tao na may basscut daw yung SD1 kaya pangit.. nagkakasilbi talaga pag nag-cascade ng pedals gaya nun. nagiging tight yung tunog para tumagos. :lol:

OD3,Bad monkey,TS808,Foxrox Zim,Mesa Boogie V-twin,Damage control Womanizer,Maxon 0d`s,fulltone OCD and Fulldrive2,G2d,too many to mention.It all comes down to personal preference. :-D

hehehe may pedal na kahit mag isa lang cya maganda yung tunog and can do blues to highgain stuff all you have to do is roll the volume from your guitar tonebone trimode,koch, emma blues to metal kaya.... blues to classic rock tube driver di muna kailang ngan ng combination

try a TS9 >> MXR Distortion+ combo. or kung makascore ka ng MXR Distortion III, better yun.
lately i've been into distortion/OD >> transparent booster combos. mas nareretain kasi yung character ng dirt pedal kung transparent booster ang kasunod. the OD-3 is one great booster :)

a bit OT, but ive always been curious about this:
what if you want an MT + EQ for your dirt sound, but for your lead sound, you want OD2 + TS7 only, without the EQ + MT2? ... how do you manage to tap dance yourself out of this stomping feat? hehehehe

tanong lang: if you say that a pedal is a booster, where in the chain are going to put that?
for example: SD1 and the Ts808. if you want the Ts808 as a booster saan mo sya ilalagay sa chain? guitar+ SD1+Ts808? or guitar+Ts808+SD1?
I've been cascading dirt pedals as well. but i'm not sure which one of them is the designated as the booster. :oops:
so if i may request kung mag kwento kayo paki specify kung paano yung arrangement sa chain :-D

i guess depende sa tao. personally, kung ganyan setup ko, with the TS as booster ang magiging sequence ko ay: guitar-TS-SD1-amp. while it won't give that large of a volume boost compared sa kabaligtaran, may added harmonics at slight compression siya na dagdag, good for solos. yung kabaligtaran, in my experience hindi ko masyado trip ung resulta kahit malaki yung volume boost niya. nababago masyado at nakukulayan yung tone.
yung BD2 as a post OD pedal boost, yun mas ok ang resulta niya. siguro kasi, mas transparent ang EQ ng BD2.

mahal kuha ko sa ydr dahil sa tax... dito ko binili sa europe ydr ko... around 110 euros... hehehe mahal lugi ako... pero sulit naman dahil gusto ko talaga ang crossover ng overdrive hanggang sa semi fuzzy tone ng ydr.

Kahapon nakuha ko na ulit TS9(808) ko and I tried boosting the Budda Phatman (9am gain ko) with the tubescreamer (0 drive 2pm level ) ... Ayos sobrang creamy ng distortion nya... PANALO! :-D

so i guess you can call a pedal a booster regardless of it's position in the signal chain right?
i only use two dirt pedals at the same time when doing solos. i always have my SD1 on my pedalboard. If i use it in conjunction with my DS1: it's Guitar - DS1 - SD1 - amp. I use the DS1 for rhythm and step on the SD1 for solos( low drive, high volume).
But for heavier stuff i use a different setup. I take the DS1 out and bring my SD2 into play: Guitar - SD1 - SD2 - amp. I set the SD1's drive on full and and Use the SD2's crunch channel for solos(crunch drive set to less than half- around 10 o'clock). if more drive is required i turn off my SD1 and switch to the SD2's lead channel.

Which is better to cascade with a BD-2 (the BD-2 serves as the drive pedal, looking for an OD boost): -ProCo Rat2 -Boss SD-1 -Boss OD-3 -Rocktron Austin Gold
or any other recommended OD pedal...

Current na ginagamit ko pong setup is: mxr dist+ >vs jekyll and hyde Pinaglalaruan ko pa settings to get the sound I like, kaso medyo ok na ko e. Fun din siyang pagbaligtarin, (vs jekyll and hyde > mxr dist+). Tapos ang cute pa nilang pagtabihin sa TS808/TS9 para red-yellow-green. Stoplight config. :-D

amp <------ sd-2 (crunch mode, gain and tone at 12:00, ) <----- ts9 (9:00 position lang ang drive, 3:00 ang tone) <----- guitar

adam from KSE uses a maxon OD808 into a hughes & kettner triamp. basically a dimed tubescreamer into a high gain amp set for midgain. nothing against boston, pero i doubt it.
OTOH, i've heard pretty good high gain sounds coming from a DS1/MT2 in front of an overdrive. depende nalang sa OD, kase some pedals can't really take a hot signal from just anything.

MI Audio Crunch Box + MI Blues Pro. The 2 pedals are similarly voiced so you can use the Blues Pro for low-mid gain applications, the CB for High gain. Together you can have ultra high gain. :-D :-D

If I put it on my board I have the crunchbox first, then the Blues Pro. As for settings, just try them out yourself. I also have the CB running at 18volts.

i'd do it differently though. i'd set the BM on unity volume with gain set midway (or wherever there's breakup). i'd put the DS1 infront of it, set the DS1 level to 75-100%, and adjust the gain on the DS1 to the point where i get a decent chugging sound.
of course i've never done it, so i guess wala palang kwenta yung sinabi ko (nyek). but i've done it with a modded DS1 (made louder by bunyok) and a TS9. i'd probably never do it with a stock DS1, though, kase mahina volume ng stock in my experience..

that's worth a shot. :) try mu din yung 3 dirtboxes in a row. pero lahat sila mababa lang yung gain. parang 3 distortions used as cascading overdrives. i've done it with a DS1, a marshall drivemaster, and a.... naku hindi ko na maalala yung pangatlo hehe.
ang ok kase sa cascading gain stages, for me, is the relative ease i can go into a controllable feedback. basta alalay lang sa gain levels.

actually, it's quite the reverse. dialling the contour knob to zero maxes out the mids, not scooping it. :-D

I'm currently enjoying my Lovepedal COT 50 + Eternity cascade. The signal is clearer with just the Eternity on but I get meaty dirty rhythm tones with both on.
I didn't like the Zendrive + Eternity cascade. In my opinion, masyadong imposing kasi sa tonal characteristics yung Zendrive so di ko na masyadong marinig yung tone ng Eternity. A Zendrive cascaded with a good booster such as the RC Booster, Catalinbread Super Chili Picoso or HBE Germania might work better though.

Sir Ian!!! Yep. The best investment I've made so far. Akala ko nga kumpleto na tones ko with the fulldrive, kaso kailangan pa rin pala ng tenga ko ng distortion at isa pang OD. Next target ko would be the GT-500 next year.
Aha, hmmm... Kahit unahin mo yung Zendrive sa chain?

mi audio crunchbox and blues pro. From low gain-hi gain OD/dist at may fuzz p s blues pro if you want. Magkalapit ang voicings at very versatile combination. Matipid s battery at pareho madali dalhin. Simple layouts pa. :-D

BK Butler Tube Driver pushed by a ProCo Clean RAT. the tube driver can stand alone actually pero pushed by the Clean RAT, reminds me of pushing my Blues Deluxe with a SD-1 hehe. :lol:

masarap din yung old combo ko, TS-9 + DS-1, macho din, hehe. kasing macho nung bluespro + OCD, pero kulang sa cuts, haha. (gets nyo ba?)

ito nakukuha ko ung mga tunog na gusto ko... sa timpla lang ng eq dinadaan... pag od kasi gamit ko lang ung sa amp ko kasi swabe naman...
ds-1 --> hm100 --> eq100
ang lakas ng chug chug nito kapag metal mararamdaman mo ung chug chug sa palm mute.

@stat!c Ako dati naka Jekyll and Hyde (OD channel) -> Big Muff nagandahan naman ako gives me different flavors for my fuzz/distortion tone. More fuzz without that big a volume boost. The other way around (Big Muff -> Jekyll and Hyde) is great for lead. Sobrang lakas mag-cut sa mix dahil sa uber mids. Since halos Tubescreamer din naman yung OD channel ng Jekyll and Hyde, I would assume na pareho makukuha mong tunog. Problema ko lang is lakas ng noise kapag naka-on ng sabay.
Btw, grabe choices sa Fulltone GT-500 -> Fulltone Fulldrive2. Different flavors of OD and distortion and different setups for the OD-distortion chain.

@stat!c Go for it bro. Really can't go wrong with that combination. As for noise suppressors, kaya naman bro if it cuts the signal (like the Boss NS-2) kaso kung suppressor talaga (like MXR Smart Gate or Rocktron Hush), not much use kasi di nila pinuputol yung sound e. Ay, tsaka don't count on my memory of the noise bro. Bigla kong naalalang mataas pa pala ako mag-set ng gain noon. I think hindi naman magiging that big a problem ang noise lalo pag ginagamit mo yung isa to just boost solos or whatever. Just make sure na patay ang isa sa dalawa kapag tahimik moments. Tapos kung US ang Big Muff mo at pag nag-sawa ka sa kanya, PM mo ko. Nami-miss ko na yung Big Muff ko dati e. :-D
Ay try mo rin yung DOD 250 or yung YJM nila. You can also try a Boss SD-1. Also try an MXR Distortion+ (OD siya with a fuzz clipping stage). Ang chain ko dati e Jekyll and Hyde -> Big Muff -> Distortion+. Kumpleto na ko sa lagay na yun. Yung mga sumunod na pedals ko puros GAS na.
(Though hindi ko pa rin pakakawalan yung mga Fulltone ko ngayon. :-D)

Found the solution using Maxon OD808 and dirt channel of amp. I thought I was looking for a COMP/SUSTAINER before but the combination is superb for sustain and dynamics, helped me a lot in bringing out legato runs which sounded bland before.
I'm pretty happy with just 2 pedals right now, this OD and Morley BH-2 :evil:

use the DS-2 as your main dirt + use the badmonkey to boost the ds-2. Bad Monkey's drive at lowest drive (a well known booster setting)

mi audio crunch box..volume(depende sa amp) tone at 47% and gain at 50%(depending if i use a strat with bridge single coil or strat with bridge humbucker)
sa strat, sounds great on the neck pup..really creamy when both the ts808 and crunch box are on. when i use the bridge sc pup, i have to lower the tone for my bridge pup..about 50-60%...depende cguro sa gig...
on a MIM strat that ive got that has a floyd rose bridge and a dimarzio bridge hb...im very happy with the tone.
kaya nga tuloy, dillema ko ngayon na parang gusto kong dalhin ang mexicanong strat sa vegas, sa susunod na tugtog ko.
ang hirap kaya mag greyhound na dalawa ang dala kong gitara tapos ang pedalboard mo, kasing laki ng flat screen hdtv.. :lol:

Kramtone ZDC -> Seymour Duncan Lava Box -> Fender Blues De Ville drive channel (for boost)
When either one is turned on, ok na for rhythm. Malamig yung ZDC, may bangis yung Lava Box. But when both are turned on along with the drive channel, suave pa rin. No unintentional feedback kahit lahat online. Medyo mababa din kasi ako mag-set ng gain. Parang biglang lumiliwanag lang yung tunog mo. But when you want the harmonics to sing, walang kahirap-hirap hehe. :wink:

My friend owns those,he said... WHOA! :-D It really sounds great especially if modded the MT2 to "no more ngongo" specs and the SD1 to ts808 specs(he didnt say what kind of modding)

i personally use, and is in my pedal route, ang DOD YJM308. great for ma-treble na sound.. i usually boost it with a BOSS BD-2. but kung distortion, PROCO RAT2 gamit ko. with the 'distortion' knob at 4 o'clock, nice, warm distortion sound! at 9 o'clock, cool, overdrive sound. i use this with my single-coiled guitars..
if i have to keep two? the Proco RAT and the DOD YJM308. works well too with my semi-hollow..

The neat thing about the TS808->FD2, is that you have actually 3 cascading gain stages. i.e. FD2 drive = crunch, FD2 drive on boost = overdrive, TS-808 + FD2 on boost = distortion. :-)

Since I use a line 6 dm4 and vox duel overdrive, its either the ts-808 settings + vox duel od for boost or the Line 6 Drive (the gain cranked a bit) + Vox duel od.
Personally, I'm happy with that. :-)

from what i've read and tried,
1. whichever pedal is last is what will give the more predominant tone and character; 2. if you like to adjust your sound from dirty to clean by rolling off the vol. knob of your guitar, then place the OCD first in line after your guitar; 3. if we were to follow convention, then it should be od > distortion, where the od pedal is set and used more as a clean boost with less gain. 4. when cascading gain pedals, it is best to keep gain and vol levels low on each of them.
Personally I prefer od (e.g. 808 or fd2 or od3) > distortion (e.g. OCD or Rat), with the od set for cleanish boost, and the distortion set low for crunchy chords... just so it doesn't get too over-the-top when both pedals are on.

Anyone here has tried Rocktron Austin Gold Overdrive. Kakabili ko lang kay Shredmaster26 nun, unang testing ko pa lang na-inlove na ako. Dalawang OD ang gamit ko, bad monkey and yung Gold overdrive nga, ganda ng tunog!

my set-up: DIY modded SD9 + stock Ibanez TS10 - my sd9's been modded to have mids (tnx for sir randymarsh with this!), but adding the ts10 as a booster, mas pronounced ang mids at tonal character nung sd9. yung preset ng sd9 ang tweakable tapos yung ts10 poste lang as clean boost.
try ko sa susunod TS808. :wink:

yup, lahat ng OD kahit minimal lang gain maga-add talaga. If gusto mo mag-add lowend, palitan mo sd-1 ng bad monkey or pag dami budget, bb preamp ;)

Jekyll + Maxod Rod 881 = Super warm and super fat :-D
I usually leave the Jekyll turned on with the gain all the way down to get that slightly saturated fat sound on my cleans. I just use different pickup configurations to change the voice of my tone. Then, just stomp on my Maxon for that either overdriven or distorted sound. Jekyll is pretty good in boosting your low end and as for the Maxon Rod 881, it gives that nice tubey feel of a high gain amp. :mrgreen:

I have a Marshall MG30DFX, I used to boost it with Joyo Vintage overdrive. It gets fizzy to me when boosted with a distortion pedal like shredhead and sa sobrang gain, nagiging marumi na yung playing ko.. YMMV. :-D

Joyo Vintage Overdrive + EHX Metal Muff
using the OD in front of the Metal Muff allows for less distortion level on the Metal Muff. the individual notes can be allowed to ring out (as opposed to higher levels where everything comes out as mush :lol: ). the OD setting is the usual high level, low drive (gain), and the sound is really tighter. I find this metal tone better than the stock modern gain of the Blackstar HT-5R. your mileage may vary though :)
a compressor just after the guitar also adds to the tight sound. the effect is very subtle, but it's there :-D

TOD is placed before Metal Muff? Wala talaga masyadong magiging difference kasi mataas na yung gain setting ng Metal Muff. Ubos na yung headroom na ipupush nung TOD.
Pag naman TOD after Metal Muff, magiging parang volme booster ang purpose niya.

Tama si sir Chino, mataas yung gain ng Metal Muff mo
Naka VOD and Metal Muff din ako(VOD before Muff), yung VOD ko is 9oclock gain, 3oclock tone, full volume. Tapos yung muff ko naman 9 to 10oclock gain lang. Halata yung difference yung difference pag naka engage yung VOD, mas tight siya and kahit 9oclock lang gain nung Metal Muff basta may VOD high gain parin naman.

TS808 (my personal unit is a clone, a Joyo Vintage Overdrive) + MI Audio Tube Zone. Nababawasan yung "sag" nung Tube Zone kapag binu-boost ng TS808 (clone) yung unit. Adjust-adjust na lang sa gain para bawas sa noise :-)

if you want cheap OD as boost pedal... try mo JOYO Vintage OD.. di pa ko nakagamit nun pero I am using JOYO Ultimate Drive as booster.. placed it after my Shredhead... maganda naman ang result nya as a booster.

sa distortion di masyado ko maarte, ang important naka poste yung ts808 sa sahig..
but strictly i'd go for this config.... gtr->distortion->ts808->amp...

this makes perfect sense. at least more variety in terms of tone, I decided to go with Boss OS2 overdrive/dist pedal, I think it has a similar sound to the sd1 at low gain setting, pus i have the option to crank it up to use it as a distortion or I can use it to boost my TS9 or vice versa, hehe, ang dami kong sinabi, tnx for the tips mga sir.

This may be out of the topic already...but having owned a Dirty Bomb, I think the best partner for it is a thick-voiced high wattage amp with a 12" speaker (or more). it can really stand on its own with that setup. :-)

This is what I have, and it delivered most of needed tones so far:
Ganito set up ko dati tas nilagyan ko ng MXR 10 band EQ. Very versatile set-up, you just need to spend time so you would know what settings that would fit your needs

Base sa youtube demos,
TCE Dark Matter + TCE MojoMojo Perfect combination for an amp-like sweetness. With some MXR 6band EQ, maybe this combination is the one im looking for.
Never tried it though. Hopefully will get a Mojo OD tomorrow to test it out. Have a darkmatter & a mxr eq in hand.

Tried combining 2 bizarre pedals, Boston OD-100 and Mooer Blade. Sarap ng tunog! Di ako heavy dirt user, ginagamit ko lang sila sa solos ng songs pero nakalow pareho gain nila pero sobrang full ng tunog nya! Yung OD-100, bass-mid heavy, yung mooer blade treb heavy kaya kumpleto tunog nya.

No combi is the best, all of us will give you a different answer, too many factors to consider, guitar, amp, cables, acoustics and even your ears lobes( we all hear sound differently), its still a matter of trying everything out yourself. Good luck

it is a good pedal. Check out dirt pedal shootouts on youtube! I think SOH is one of the best pedals in that price range...

i've had the chance to use a OCD v.3+FD2 (TS variant) for a few years.
was fully satisfied until i down played my setup to just 1 OD pedal but for what it was, it really worked well. either solid state or tube amp that setup worked well.

Ocd + any ts based pedal hehe gives you a pushing a tube amp feel. I cant go super high gain ala mesa but it will give you a very good marshall tone

i am doing that sometimes i replace it with other OD for boost or EQ but SD1 is the best for me doesnt suck tone on my Fuzz gives a thicker and sustain note i love it !

1) Usually kung gain boost, mauuna yung overdrive. 2) Kung volume boost naman, mauuna yung distortion (pero at some point, the last drive pedal in the chain dictates the overall tone output). Pwede din ng ganitong setup kung naka tube amp ka to boost the tubes for slight breakups or more gain from the amp itself. 3) Experiment.

What kind of boost are you looking for? Gain boost? Mid boost?
I've owned a GT-2 before and I've found that it has plenty of gain on tap. Something I'm comfortable of not boosting anymore for two reasons: 1. It seems sufficient 2. It will be extra noisy (given that it's quite a noisy pedal on its own)
But if you're looking for a mid boost, try placing an EQ pedal after it. Or if you're looking for a volume boost, place a clean booster after the GT-2.

Hmm .. okay. Well honestly, I just want slight more sustain and harmonics lang sana. I don't know ah .. pero para kasing bitin pa yung sustain ng gt2 sakin eh .. para bang may kulang pa. :-( Although nandun tlga yung bigat kung un lang din paguusapan. Thanks for the info btw .. ^^
